Afterthoughts: Episode 4:19 Jump the Shark

*Spoiler alert if you haven't watched this episode*

When I first heard about the 3rd Winchester brother, I wasn't sure about it. I just don't want the 3rd brother to ruin the show. I just couldn't see how it would work in a long run. But I kept an open mind when I watched the episode. I've got to trust Kripke right?!

To me, episode 4:19 Jump the Shark
has the Season 1 vibe and it almost feels like a John centric episode. The guy has been dead for over 2 years but he is still much alive in the show. In Jump the Shark, not only we met Adam, the secret son of John, later in the episode we found out that John was on a case in this town years ago saving people, hunting things and started a new family! There is something very 'John' about this episode.

On John's secret family, perhaps it's like what Dean said, John was protecting Adam and his mother, he didn't want them to be part of any Winchester family business. But here is what I think. Could this be the place John escaped to whenever he felt he needed a break?
Doing something normal? Visiting Adam and his mother? Taking Adam to a baseball game on his birthday? I think it was more being a responsible father to Adam and doing something normal with him. I don't know if it's just me or not, the photos we saw in this episode of John, Adam and the mother were happy photos, John looked genuinely happy with this secret family. So I just think that perhaps deep down John wanted this and wanted to be around to get away from hunting. To be honest, if John didn't want to be there, I don't think he'd be there at all.

It's interesting to see how different Dean and Sam reacted to Adam.
I was with Dean, I thought Adam must be a shape-shifter or this job was a trap. But Sam, as usual, did his research and checked him out. He was pretty much convinced that Adam was a real person and accepted Adam as a brother from the beginning. But we didn't see much from Adam, he didn't question or had doubts. I guess he was convinced that Dean and Sam were his brothers when they told him. But then he is not really Adam, he wanted to fast track to DINNER TIME.

The last scene of burning Adam's body reminded me of John's funeral, where Dean and Sam burnt his body. Dean was wearing the leather jacket in both scenes and the photography of the scene was similar, i.e. we saw Dean's face through the smoke of the fire. I thought this scene was very well crafted. This scene really reminded me how much the boys have changed since John's death.

Overall, I thought this episode was fine but it's not one of my favorites. It's 3 out of 5 for me.

I am more excited about next week's episode The Rapture. I know I am repeating myself again, but I really am! What kind of person is Jimmy? Will Jimmy get along with Dean more or Sam more? Is Jimmy funny and completely different from Castiel? Only thing for sure, Jimmy can change his outfit before Castiel returns or he's stuck in that trench-coat for a lot longer.

Update on the Convention DVD - you still have time to tell me why I should love you....

To all my Twitter followers, the organizers of the AHBL Supernatural Convention has posted an update on the website about the Convention DVD.

"Event DVDs will be available in TWO WEEKS from the event weekend. You will be able to order these through the CURRENTLY INCOMPLETE Hub Shop." Source

Fans should be able to order the DVD from the first week of May. Not sure when the order will arrive and I don't think it's restricted to Australian fans only (but then again, I am not sure.). But that doesn't matter, because TWO of my Twitter followers will receive a copy each. Just tell me why I should love you and send you the DVD for free in 66 characters via Twitter. Winners will be announced on May 4th 2009 (Sydney time.)

Why Australian time and why May 4th you might ask? It's because all new episodes of Supernatural will return to Channel Ten in Australia on May 4th. So on such special and supernatural occasion, winners shall be announced.

Two new clips - The Rapture

I am going to repeat myself... I am so excited about The Rapture, more so than the last one. I am really looking forward to this one.

Promo for 4.20 The Rapture; Description of When the Levee Breaks & Lucifer Rising

Promo for episode 4.20 - The Rapture

Personally I am very excited about this episode. Castiel is back (sort of), and we meet Jimmy! Where did Cas go? How?

PS - I am trying to hard not to read anything about Jump the Shark, I haven't watched it. Going to so do in a minute. I've been told 'it's almost epic'.!

Description of the episode 4.12 When the Levee Breaks

"DEAN AND BOBBY TRAP SAM IN THE PANIC ROOM — Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) lock Sam (Jared Padalecki) in Bobby’s panic room so he can detox from the demon blood. However, as Bobby sees more seals are being broken he tells Dean they should let Sam out to help them fight the impending apocalypse. Dean disagrees and goes to Castiel (Misha Collins) for help. Sam and Dean have a big blowout confrontation. Directed by Robert Singer and written by Sera Gamble." Source

What a combination!? Robert Singer & Sera Gamble! This is going to be EPIC!

Description of the finale of Season 4 - Lucifer Rising

"Sam and Ruby try to kill Lilith; Zachariah and Castiel tell Dean he must play his part in stopping Lucifer."

*Already started to think what to do during the Summer hiatus!*

New interviews of Jensen, Jared & Misha (Channel Ten)

When they don't stuff up, Channel Ten is actually quite good and it is my favorite TV station in Australia. I hate them sometimes but that's because I care. (Have I covered my ass ok there?)

Channel Ten did a few interviews on YouTube this week on Jensen, Jared and Misha.

Angela said the boys are here for the SUPANOVA Convention.. GET THE NAME RIGHT!!!!! It frustrates me when TV people don't do research and get their facts right. They are supposed to be professionals! AIYA!!

Supernatural nominated in 5 categories at The Constellation Awards

Supernatural has been nominated in 5 categories at this year's Constellation Awards. I really want them to win. I just think the show truly deserves some recognition. Details here.

Nominations include:

- Best Male Performance in a 2008 Science Fiction Television Episode
Jensen Ackles in "In the Beginning"

- Best Science Fiction Television Series of 2008

- Best Technical Accomplishment in a 2008 Science Fiction Film or Television Production
"Monster Movie" Cinematography, Serge Ladouceur

- Best Overall 2008 Science Fiction Film or Television Script

"In the Beginning" Jeremy Carver

- Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Film or Television in 2008

I like In the Beginning, however, as the season progresses, I'd prefer some of the latest episodes to be nominated. Personally, I would single out Heaven and Hell, On the Head of a Pin and Monster at the End of the Book. I think Jensen really shines in these episodes. Jared also shined in After School Special. And I think if there is ever a category for supporting actors, I think Misha Collins should be nominated for his work in Monster at the End of the Book. If there is a best guest star category, I'd nominate Christopher Heyerdahl for his role of Alastair. Finally, I think Monster at the End of the Book is the overall best written episode this season for the show.

Spoiler: "I am the prophet Chuck. I will be back."

I am excited! I am declaring myself as a fan of the prophet Chuck. He will be back! Ausiello revealed.

Question: Got anything on the Supernatural finale that you don't have to block out with hundreds of asterisks? -David

Ausiello (EW): Comic book geek-slash-prophet Chuck will be back! See, no asterisks!

AHBL Supernatural Aus Convention 2009: Photos & videos from the Auction (Jensen, Jared and Misha)

This is my favorite part of the entire convention!

I love the Auction. It was the highlight for me. It's interesting because the 3 boys (I mean MEN*) don't get to be in the same scene a lot, Jensen and Misha have a lot of scenes together in comparison to Jared and Misha. So it was really good to see all 3 of them together on stage having fun and joking around. Totally unpretentious. Great stuff.

*Fans sometimes said "Hi Boys.", and they will be like "MEN.. we are MEN."

I kinda expect to see the great chemistry between
Jensen and Jared, but seeing them live on stage was something totally awesome. Not only that, Misha was great fun too!! He made a surprise appearance on stage to help out on the charity auction (the charity is the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia). I wish I could to re-live that session again.

Misha actually quietly entered the auditorium and stood near the door where my seat was. I didn't know until a few people started taking photos. He was great! Just smiled and just stood quietly listening to the J2 panel. He also laughed a bit whenever J2 said something funny. Jared was throwing lollies around and I think Jared saw Misha by the door, so he threw it really far and Misha threw back. But I am not sure how many people saw Misha did that as it happened very quick.

Misha gatecrashed the J2 panel.

Misha was given a chair by the MC, but Jensen and Jared sat in front of Misha and tried to hide him.. It was funny!

So anyway, Jensen and Jared were given a plain white t-shirt each to draw on. Audience to place their bid while they drew on the t-shirt. Misha was providing some commentary.

They didn't draw a picture but they wrote some stuff on the t-shirt. Jensen has 'I am with Stupid' (with an arrow pointing to Jared and Misha), but then Misha moved away, leaving Jared there! Jared has "I gave $____ to charity." (The dollar amount was added by Jared when the final bid was in).

Jared asked Misha to sign the t-shirt, and.. there was.. arh.. some interesting.. humm... 'action' on stage!! Here we go, see it yourself! This is also most part of the auction, including a message from

Also, this is weird.. but I just found out some rankings have been posted on my YouTube Channel. Thanks y'all for viewing =) Supernatural fandom rocks! I do this for y'all, especially those who couldn't be there. I know the feeling, so when I can do this, I'll do it for y'all. Of course, it's all about the hot content of the videos. Thanks again!!

AHBL Supernatural Aus Convention 2009: Photos & videos from the J2 panel

Jared gatecrashed Jensen's panel: Jared was throwing chairs, water bottles and lollies. It was funny.

And whenever there was a question for Jensen, Jared would start throwing things around. Jared also threw some lollies to the audience.. I didn't get any =(

Because Jared joined Jensen after Jensen's solo panel, the Powerpoint slide was still showing Jensen's picture so Jared asked the organiser to change it to, so we could see Jared on the slide too.

Jensen had to stand up, because he said he was getting old. (NEVER!)
Anyway, there was this question for Jensen about how he prepared himself for cry scenes. Jensen gave some serious answers and Jared also added some points. Jensen just kinda sat there and was like "dude thanks for answering for me!" It was funny! Jared loved spinning in that chair! Here is the video.

Stay turned for the final report on THE AUCTION -
which is my favorite part of the entire convention!

AHBL Supernatural Aus Convention 2009: Jensen and Jared's Entrance to the Auditorium

EPIC!
(Please note: These videos have just been uploaded. It could still be processing. So please be patient.)

Jared's entrance to the auditorium: I would've used Carry On My Wayward Son as the music for the video. But it's still good.

Jensen's entrance to the auditorium: If they didn't use Eye of the Tiger as the music, it would've been so wrong!

MATT: In a word, sorta. The boys will hear from Rufus in Episode 21, which is titled "When the Levee Breaks" and airs May 7."

Jensen Ackles as Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil 4) - Rumor

OK.. so I know this rumor has been circulating forever. However, thanks for Supernatural Hunters' Addict for posting this, IMBD has listed Jensen Ackles as Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 4 (rumor). Check this out, click here.

IMBD is usually a good database source. But I can't find anything that will confirm this. And certainly nothing from the studio Screen Gems (Sony). BeyondHollywood.com has some articles in relation to the script development of the movie, but nothing about casting or whether the movie is a go.

I guess we will find out when it becomes true. Let me know if you come across anything on this.

If you don't know who Leon Kennedy is or what Resident Evil is, check it out here.

My thoughts after watching 4:18 - The Winchester Gospel

Awesomeness doesn't come any more awesome than the Winchester Gospel. I've been watching the show religiously, but I have no idea I have been watching a work in progress Gospel. The Monster at the End of the Book was such a clever and entertaining episode. Kudos to the writer of the episode Julie Siege. But why did they make Dean and Sam look like Fabio on the book cover?!

Based on the promo and episode description, I thought this would be another comedic filler episode. I was wrong, but I've never been so happy for being wrong!

Meet Chuck the Prophet

A modern prophet, Chuck Shurley is 100% ghost-proof!

I thought Chuck was just some random dude with psyche power or the trickster was the one behind this 'joke'. But instead, it was revealed that Chuck was a prophet, his work would one day be known as the Gospel of the Winchester. Chuck is protected by an archangel. Mess with Chuck and you go bye bye.

I have the same reaction as Dean and Chuck when Castiel said Chuck's work will be known as the Gospel of the Winchester.. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING?! But thanks to Misha Collins' top notch performance and excellence delivery of his line "No, I am not kidding you." I am convinced that this is not a joke, I repeat this is not a joke. GENIUS IDEA!!

I like the construction of Chuck's character. He is a writer, he is in his PJ more than in jeans, beer and whisky are part of his writing process. Dean thinks he looks like a guy who writes for the Penthouse forum than a prophet.
But imagine how a prophet looked in the old days or how they dressed or what they did for a living and imagine Chuck dressed in robes and wore sandels with longer beard. It's interesting when Castiel said to Dean 'you should see Luke', he probably looked worst. It almost feels like this is some sort of inside joke between the angels. I don't remember seeing any TV dramas or movies that make such references in the way Supernatural does. If you know, please let me know.

Castiel is unsure how a prophet was chosen but
according to this website, "God's prophets did not live easy lives. Most were persecuted, ridiculed, often living in grave danger for their lives, and nearly all were ignored.." I guess that's exactly who Chuck is, he might not be important to people now, but what he has written and what he is about to write will become something so much more important... THE GOSPEL OF THE WINCHESTER.

I thought Rob Benedict was a great choice to play Chuck. If he didn't get this right, it will look silly. I mean he was actually quite funny in a way that he was clearly freaking out about what was happening to him. That was really enjoyable to watch. But he was more serious when he was talking to Sam in the motel room about his behaviour and
drinking demon blood, Chuck said to Sam that he's got to know this is wrong. If this is about saving his brother Dean, sure go ahead. But if it is about being strong and being in control, this is bad. I still struggle to read Sam sometimes, what's on his mind?

I think apart from the angels and demons, Chuck is the only human being who knows everything about the Winchesters, he knows the details about their life, their pain and how the boys feel about each other even when they are not clear about that sometimes. Chuck may not write eveything in the book, but he knows absolutely everything about the boys. To see him talking to Sam about getting stronger because of the demon blood is really interesting.

Chuck was helpful at the end of the episode when Dean put him in the same room as Lillith and it was awesome! "I am Chuck the prophet." That's all he really has to say.

Who is the monster at the end of the book? How much does Chunk know? One thing for sure, I don't think there will be a happy ending.

Other random thoughts

If Dean prays, Castiel will come. I wonder how much Dean will pray in the future. This is a major development of Dean's character and I think we might see this to develop further.

It occurs to me that food is part of the mythology of the show. If the Impala is the 3rd character, then Dean's food is the 4th character.
But please note, the word Dean and Tofu will not be in the same sentence ever again. They are not meant to be a happy couple.

Talking about the 3rd character of the show, poor Impala! I can feel the pain when the rear window was smashed. Remember, I am the trunk of Dean's car!

Is it just me or do you also find that
Lillith was different from what we've seen before? I mean, isn't Lillith supposed to have a child-like mannerism? Remember what Katie Cassidy did to this character when Ruby was possessed by Lillith. You can still see the child-like mannerism of Lillith. But the Lillith in this episode didn't resumble the Lillith I've seen on the show.

One last important question: does Sam do Dean's laundry?

This episode is so good I want to pray every night.. In the name of Dean, Sam and Castiel, Amen.
