I am so so proud to be part of the Supernatural family. I vote for Supernatural. I watch People's Choice for the fandom. The crew up in Vancouver was also watching it too. I feel like I was watching my family with my family on TV.

First and foremost, congratulations to Supernatural for winning two awards -- Favourite Sci-Fi/ Fantasy show and Favourite TV Fan Following 'SPN Family'. Jensen and Jared didn't win the Dramatic TV Actor, this award went to Nathan Fillion, who mentioned his brother voted for Jensen! (HA!) I feel so gutted that Jensen didn't win! But I am going to look pass the disappointment and look on the brightside of life instead. Less the singing, of course. Should we?

The red carpet is definitely a highlight for me. Jensen and Jared looked super hot. Danneel glowed as Baby Ackles was cheering on for daddy! Gen was stunning in that dress and hairstyle. Apart from all the Supernatural related excitement, to be honest this year's People's Choice Award as an event does look a bit flat. It has its moment -- Robert Downey Jr was always entertaining and never disappoint and that was Tony Stark right there; Kaley Cucoc was a great host; Stephen Amell looked very nervous but very hot! I don't really care about most of other winners -- The Beauty & The Beast won the Favourite New TV Drama was probably the biggest WTF moment other than Jensen and Jared didn't take home the Dramatic Award. Every year People's Choice Award is like 'Other People's Choice Award' to me. But let's look on the brightside.. Supernatural won! 

The greatest 'feel-good' moment was when The Big Bang Theory won Favourite Network Comedy Award. When The History Of Everything was played, a big smile appeared on my face! It is interesting to see to the event wrapped up with a Comedy award, and Simon Helberg made the acceptance speech! To me, it was probably the most hilarious and best moment of the entire show! I love this show, it was a great speech from Simon.

Premonition - People's Choice Awards

We are only hours before the People's Choice Awards. There are too many awesomeness to look forward to. I don't think I can sleep tonight. And just now, literally, I had a premonition about how Jensen and Jared might behave during the Dramatic Actor Award. 

1.) Jared wins: Jensen screams like a fangirl. The mic is too low for him. He is too excited, he takes his shirt off. 

2.) Jensen wins: Jared screams like a fangirl. Jared grabs his face and attempts to kiss him, but Jensen pushes his face away.

3.) Ian or Paul wins: Jared and Jensen throw their ties on the floor and yell "Not fair!" They fight on stage. 

4.) Nathan wins: "Firefly reboot, anyone?" 

I may actually watch it the red carpet live tomorrow on UStream!

Supernatural 'Remember The Titans' Details; Episode Titles Update

The Supernatural gang is surely keeping fans excited during this hiatus. After we welcome Gen to Twitter @realGPad and Danneel's pregnant news plus all the PCA stuff, we are not getting a break! Before we know it, Supernatural will be back on your TV! 

Anyway.

SpoilerTV has posted some preliminary details on 8.16 Remember the Titans. The episode will involve Prometheus, Haley and Zeus. This episode is written by Daniel Loflin and directed by Steve Boyum. Someone give me a Greek mythology book to read now! Did you know: "Prometheus is a Titan, culture hero, and trickster figure in Greek mythology..." It is also a name for space ships. I want to see Richard Speight Jr to return to the show. 21st Century Fox Mambo is playing in my mind as I type this. Yeah, I am this random!

Baby Ackles Is Happening! Congrats to Jensen & Danneel

If the parents are super hot, the kid usually has the genes. I know where Baby Ackles get the exceptionally good look from. 

That's right, fans! Jensen and Danneel are going to be parents!! Congratulations to both and their families. OMG! This is OMG! 2013 is going to be a great year for both. We now have more information on the role of Jensen and Jared at People's Choice Awards taking place this Wednesday. We know they are scheduled to appear, but now? We don't know if they will win anything, but they will also be presenting an award. Either way, you WILL get to see both of them on stage! Excuse me, while I faint!!

Defending 'The Hobbit'

In recent days, websites such as SFGate and CNN have named their 'best and worst' films of 2012. Some of their choices are unanimous. How does one approach the judging process? Are they merely opinions? If so, whose opinions? Are we supposed to look at the 'snooze' factors or box office success? Are we reviewing the film maker's artistic and/ or technical approach, script, performances etc..? The Hobbit makes it to some of the 'worst film of the year' lists. My response is: REALLY? Is it just me or you too think it does not deserve it? This Means War, I get it. But The Hobbit? COME ON!

I don't think anyone in the film industry has an intention to make a bad movie so that they can make it to the 'worst film of the year' list. Even Scary Movie and Fantastic Four have its moment. Watching a movie can be a very personal experience. I cried throughout the last movie of Harry Potter, and my friend didn't. She joked that may be she is heartless or may be she is now more mature and a different viewer than she watched the first Harry Potter movie. Some of us, who have already established an emotional connection with story and characters because we grew up with the books, may find the movie adaptations awesome (or not). Other audience watch it because they are forced to, keeping someone's company, or it's a hot day so they may as well enjoy the aircon, or they watch it because someone else told them it's good, or perhaps they got a freebie. Of course, your opinion on a movie is entirely yours. When you've been watching movies all your life, as an audience, you'll know a good movie when you see one. Does a movie move on emotionally? Does it make you think? Does it make you laugh, cry or angry? All these contribute to the way you think about the movie. I went to a baby shower just after I saw This Means War, a mother told everyone it was the best film she's seen in her life. I mean, whatever makes you happy, dearie. Oh and.. I watched This Means War because it was a freebie.

In my opinion, The Hobbit is NOT a bad film and it certainly doesn't deserve to be on the 'worst film of the year' list. I get the movie, I have a connection with the story and I appreciate it. Why do I have to defend The Hobbit? I just have to! I am this tiny insignificant blogger who defends The Hobbit, just like Bilbo defends and fights for his friends.

The Hobbit is certainly a lot darker than the book, which was intended to be a children's book. I enjoy reading Lord of the Rings books much better because it was darker and more intriguing. Some people criticize that The Hobbit took the wrong approach by going for the much darker feel and look, and therefore the 'feel' of the original book was missing. Some scene in the movie certainly reminds you of Lord of the Rings -- the Shire and the Misty Mountain battle. I don't think the mountain trolls were ever funny in Lord of the Rings, do you? Martin Freeman's young Bilbo and the many personalities of the dwarfs make the movie successful. I don't think the quirky nature of the book was completely missing. And it was done as a children's film, it may look like Willow instead.

I am not campaigning The Hobbit to be listed as one of the best films of the year, and if you ask me to be super critical about The Hobbit, I do have a few points to make. I thought the point of view could be focused on Bilbo a bit more, I thought at times the point of view of storytelling was a bit here and there. Some scenes were longer than it should, but that's price they have to pay when the book is split into three movies. The Hobbit is closer to Lord of the Rings movies than the book, but I have no problems with it. No major characters have died yet and some dwarfs are too good looking!! I opted for the non-3D version of the movie, because I don't think 3D movies are worth it in general, unless it was filmed with 3D cameras from start to finish. If watching the movie in 3D is the only choice, I guess I have to suck it up and deal with it. But I did have a choice!

I went to watch The Hobbit without any expectation, I didn't even plan to find any Easter eggs. But I really love the movie. I thought Martin Freeman's performance as Bilbo was fantastic and his Bilbo was more fun. He certainly put his own stamp on the character, which was portrayed by Ian Holmes in the previous Lord of the Rings (who also made a guest appearance in The Hobbit). The Hobbit is about Bilbo's adventure 60 years prior to Lord of the Rings. One of the most anticipated scenes was the appearance of Gollum, and his interaction with Bilbo. It was a great scene. I also love seeing all return of a few characters -- Ian Holme's Bilbo, Frodo, Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel and Saruman -- and the Eagles still gave me the goose bumps. Is it just me or do you love seeing the Dragon too? 

The Hobbit tells a great story with great dialogues and performance, the message and the nature of the characters and their struggles stay true to the book. I did shed a tear when the hobbit finally picked up the courage to help his friends to fight the bad guys, so that his friends can rebuild their home. To me, that's a classic hobbit thing. The message is embedded in this movie and the three before it. I wish people would just stop picking things to hate and compare, because The Hobbit just does not deserve to be seen as one of the worst movies of 2012. The Hobbit was a great movie -- the script is not lazy, the production is not lazy, the performance is not lazy -- this movie was epic in every sense of the word!

The Hobbit reminds me of the good things rather than the bad. There were a few cheers from audience at the end of the movie and I walked out of the cinema feeling satisfied. And if the media tells me The Avengers is one of the worst films of 2012, I will start throwing punches! It made it to some 'most overrated movies of the year' though. Whatever! As long as nobody names Twilight as the best film of the year, my faith in humanity remains intact.

Ackles & Padalecki Scheduled To Appear at People's Choice on Jan 9th

Happy New Year!! Do you have any New Year's resolution? I am taking one step at a time and enjoy life at the same time. One of the biggest wishes I have is to see Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki to appear live in person, on the red carpet and on stage at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday 9th January. Good things do happen!!! It's been announced that they are scheduled to appear, according to the following promo.

Both Jensen and Jared are up for the Best Dramatic Actor Award. Supernatural is up for the Favourite Sci-Fi/ Fantasy TV Show and Favourite TV Fan Following. As a show, Supernatural has won the Favourite Sci-Fi/ Fantasy TV Show before, but Jensen and Jared never won any individual awards. Could this be the year of CHANGE? Could this be the year to see one of our boys to give an acceptance speech on stage? They all practice that moment -- the nominees are.. and the winner is -- how will their reaction be like? They will probably make fun of each other.

People's Choice Awards is one of those funny things just like the MTV Awards. It's a fan thing. You see Twilight and Bieber more than you see someone like Helen Mirren or Maggie Smith. Winning a People's Choice Award probably doesn't mean anything to anyone, except it means the world to the fans because fans get to see their favourite stars to appear live in person on the red carpet, on stage and after party. It's a great way to promo a show. But fans want new hot photos and videos. We want our precious!

Supernatural 'LARP and the Real Girl' Description; Episode Titles Update

The guys are thrilled to discover the Queen of Moondoor is none other than Charlie (guest star Felicia Day). The three learn that a fairy (guest star Tiffany Dupont) has been commandeered to harm people and the only way to stop her is to find her master. Thank You 2012, I Was Entertained This Year

If you are reading this feature, it means the world didn't end on the 21st December and I have recovered from the family Christmas madness. I know some of you are disappointed about the end of the world -- especially one super X-Files fan who believes in Chris Carter for the past 20 years. The truth is most of us are happier to see other people saving the world from the apocalypse or living in one or killing zombies on TV shows and movies. I don't know about you, but my entertainment is set for the next few years! The world is not perfect, but at least we are giving the opportunity to escape into another dimension the moment we turn on our entertainment devices.

An affogato isn't the same without ice cream. When it's Supernatural, if there is no angst no drama, it isn't fun. 

One of the biggest changes that we saw this year was the changing of the guard from previous showrunner Sera Gamble to Jeremy Carver. I was very sad and worried to see Sera go but the announcement of the return of Jeremy Carver at the same time was comforting. Apart from Ben Edlund, I cannot think of anyone else but Jeremy Carver to helm the show I love so much.

I am very happy with the direction of season eight. The core of the show still remains the same -- it is about the brothers saving people hunting things, the family business! But Jeremy and the writing team are putting details under the microscope. We are digging deeper into details within details, just like when we write academic papers -- we dig, we research, we focus on different aspects, but the paper is still the same subject matter. On Supernatural, we are seeing our heroes -- Dean, Sam and Castiel -- gaining different perspectives about each other, family, life, friendship, hunting and monsters. These new perspectives are hovering over the core theme of the show -- the brother relationship. 

Off the set, the cast has a very busy and fun year too -- Jensen's Angeles is like one of the best songs I've heard all year; Jared and Gen became first time parents; Misha, Vicky and West welcomed a new family to the family; Supernatural was in Hall H once again at Comic Con; and I am proud to be an attendee at one of the conventions this year in Chicago. The magnitude and charisma of Supernatural is unbelievable. As Eric Kripke said, Supernatural is like seeing his kids growing up and going to colleague. We are proud to be fans of Supernatural. 

In terms of other shows, I was really sad to see the end of Lost, 24 and Smallville. I asked myself: what am I going to watch and blog about now? I was desperately looking for good new shows to watch and I was concerned that I won't find any. But time has changed! We live in the beginning of the golden era of the genre shows!

We are seeing a wave of awesome genre shows in recent years and most of them are worthy to stick around -- Arrow, A Game of Thrones, Once Upon A Time, The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diary, Grimm, True Blood, Revolution, Dr Who, Falling Skies, Being Human and Warehouse 13. With S.H.I.E.L.D is in development, television is going to be better! And I hope we will see medical dramas and procedural cop shows to die down a little, because I think TV viewers have enough of them! They are all the friggin same! And if anyone is looking for a new reality show idea, STOP! JUST STOP! Unless it involves the Ghost Facers or Derren Brown, I don't want to know! 

Eric Kripke's new show, Revolution, is kicking ass! Comparing the show with Lost and Supernatural is not unheard of, but Revolution is the new Lost in terms of the scale and epicness. I told myself, this show cannot fail! Kripke's work deserves to be seen by more people and people need to know he is very good at what he does! Now we have to wait until March to see the second half of season one of Revolution.

Apart from Revolution, I most look forward to the return of A Game of Thrones. I love a HBO show and I hate a HBO show. The hiatus of A Game of Thrones is as long as a season of Supernatural being on air. How is that NOT insanity? I am currently reading A Dance With Dragons, I probably will revisit A Storm of Swords soon to get ready for season three of A Game of Thrones. The TV series is known that the TV series will not follow the book chapter by chapter, in fact I am a little disappointed how little Dany's prophecies were covered in season two, but it is still more than acceptable for television. A Game of Thrones is a great show! The book series is much bigger than Lord of the Rings. It is the most epic thing I've read. I hope season three will be really epic. Mr GRRM, please hurry up and finish writing The Wind of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

Once Upon A Time is becoming a favorite show of mine. I really look forward to the arrival of Hook and Cora, and how things will develop with Emma. I hope we get to see Baelfire. Please! Please let Nail be Baelfire! I am rewatching season one now, and I want to get up to speed so that I can blog about theories and my wishlist.

2012 has been a game-changing year for Joss Whedon and Marvel going forward. The battle between DC and Marvel intensifies in 2013 as Superman, Iron Man III and Thor 2, and more to follow in 2014 and 2015 with Captain America II, The Avengers II and (hopefully) Justice League. Marvel's phase II is in place, and DC is playing catch up. But this battle will set the trend and define the entertainment business for the next decade. It will also be the decade that belongs to the geeks!

But who will come out as the winner? Let's not kid ourselves, it is war! Fans love Whedon, it was the best decision from Marvel to involve him for The Avengers and other projects such as S.H.I.E.L.D. What would the complacent DC do to compete? We will compare them, we will criticize them, we will see Comic Con as the main PR battle ground for the studios. This is exciting for fans! I cannot wait to see Twilight to get out of the way (and I wish the 50 Shades movie will never see the living daylight). I want more superheroes movies.
