Spoilers, episodes and air dates

BEWARE OF SPOILERS

Details and spoilers of the last 5 episodes of Season 4 are posted on
BuddyTV. Basically the remaining episodes will not be aired consecutively and we will have small breaks in between. Here are the schedule according to Supernatural TV.

4:18 The Monster at the End of the Book - April 2nd
Dean and Sam are fictional characters in a novel called Supernatural. I want to see them on the Simpsons or South Park.

4:19 Jump the Shark - April 23rd
The so-called third Winchester brother will be his appearance.

4:20 The Rapture - April 30th

The army of angels will return and play a key role as Dean nears his ultimate destiny. Humm. Sounds like this will be the Two Towers for Supernatural. A religious title huh? Google it!

4:21 When the Levee Breaks - May 7th

Dean's idol Led Zeppelin has a song called When the Levee Breaks.

4:22 Lucifer Rising - May 21st

Will Lucifer rise? Can the Winchesters stop the last seal from being broken?

I do suggest you to keep checking just in case! I'll post any updates here.

My thoughts after watching 4:17 - It's a terrible life

This episode surprised me. I was expecting another What is and what should never be (episode 2:20), but I didn't, which is fantastic! Dean and Sam had no memory of who they were, they lived in a corporate world as Director of Sales & Marketing (Dean) and Tech Support (Sam). Something 'not natural' happened, strange things happened to their colleagues that caused them to commit suicide. Full recap can be found on BuddyTV. I'll discuss some of the highlights here.

Where do I begin? OK.. let' start with the irony.

Dean Smith

Occupation: Director, Sales & Marketing
Favorite beverage: soy latte

Favorite food: salad
Diet: Lemonade with cayenne and maple syrup
Favorite music: None, but he listens to NRP
Car: Toyota Prius
Family: Bob, Ellen and little sister Jo
Boss: Mr Adler

Sam Wesson

Occupation: Tech Support
Favorite beverages: coffee
Favorite food: unknown

Favorite music: unknown
Car: unknown

Family: unknown but was engaged to Madison.
Boss: unknown

Dean Winchester

Occupation: Hunter
Favorite beverages: beer and possibly purple nurple
Favorite food: cheese burger and pie
Diet: What diet?
Favorite music: classic rock
Car:
1967 Chevrolet Impala
Family: John, Mary and little brother Sam
Boss: None. But looks like he will be getting a lot of mentoring from Zachariah.

Sam Winchester

Occupation: Hunter
Favorite beverage: demon blood
Favorite food: unknown.. whatever Dean eats I guess

Favorite music: unknown
Car:
Travels in 1967 Chevrolet Impala
Family: John, Mary and big bro Dean
Boss: none

Dean was so corporate, totally reminded me of someone I know. Sam was tech support.
Funny, I was having the SAME printer problem the other day at work but I was the one on the other side of the phone.

Deep down, Sam Wesson knew he was supposed to be doing something else. He always knew. He was convinced that his dreams were real, it's like he lived this life before as hunter.

Whereas Dean, he was a typical corporate executive, he earned good money, he had a bring future and received a great bonus from his boss Mr Adler. He was happy I guess, his life was better that others who worked in a cubicle. So he'd never given much thought about sea-change or whatever, he was a corporate drone who was concerned about company profit, the GFC and his portfolio. Hearing Dean saying those words were really funny!

At the end, Sam was trying to convince Dean that they should hunt together as partners. But Dean was more concerned about the realistic details: the money, the living standard and health insurance.

Zachariah - the pep-talk

I will start by saying this: I like Zachariah. I think he is a good angel. And I think he is a good boss. I think he is a mentor that Dean needs. When Zachariah was revealed as an angel, I was expecting another Uriel. But instead I see this angel who is actually giving Dean some encouragement and I think Zachariah geniunely believes that Dean can do it, he will be successful, he will stop it. I think perhaps Zachariah will give Dean the resources he needs to fight.

Everyone who is close to Dean said a few words to comfort him.
But it doesn't matter how many times they say "It's not your fault", Dean is not going to feel better and he can never forgive and forget what he's done. He broke the first seal and he tortured souls in hell. So the pep-talk was important.

The introduction of Zachariah is important, because I personally feel that this is it, it is happening. He is getting his ducks in a row and preparing for battle. Perhaps Zachariah is doing what he does best as a boss, to delicate tasks and pairing up angels with humans to fight this war. He needs his soldiers to stay sharp and strong, his soldiers need to be clear about their objectives. That's why he is here to give Dean the pep-talk and to make sure Dean doesn't forget who he is and what he does best - HUNTING. He is one of the best hunters in the business, he loves hunting, saving people. Zachariah reminds Dean that he is better than he realises, he should stop whining about his hole, his daddy issues and all his insecurities. STAND UP AND BE WHO YOU REALLY ARE!

Like Obama said "YES WE CAN!." Dean! YES YOU CAN DO IT!

It's an interesting filler episode. It's a filler episode until the last 5 minutes, which makes it possibly the most important turning point for Dean at this point of the story arc. If the writers decided not to address a solution or closure to Dean's insecurity and guilt now, this could drag on and on and becomes one of those perpetual pathetic moments in soap operas. Should this not addressed at this point of the story and if Dean has to make an important decision about the apocalypse etc in the near future episodes, I don't want to see the writers to just quickly write/ address it in 5 seconds and I will be like "huh? that's it? he has just decided to do that now?".

Other random thoughts

Ghostfacers - Check out their website seriously! Dean and Sam getting some ghost hunting advice from the GF. JACKPOT! REAL GHOST HUNTERS! And GF was referring to the Winchesters. Classic! Love the GF!

Don't call me Sammy - "Did you just call me Sammy?" Sam "Don't!"..

Dean drinking WHAT? - Whatever detox thing Dean was drinking.. can I have some of those?!

Overall, it was a filler episode up until the last 5 minutes. It was a funny and clever episode. Sera Gamble doesn't disappoint! It's 4 out of 5 for me.

The song that was played at the beginning of the episode was A Well Respected Man by The Kinks. You can download this song from iTune.

Ghostfacers official website

Dean (Smith) "Finally! Real ghost hunters!"

Watch and learn about the real ghost hunting, check out the Ghostfacers official website.

Promo 4:18 - The monster at the end of this book

Official synopsis:

"Dean and Sam are shocked to discover a series of comic books titled “Supernatural” that accurately detail their lives as demon hunters. They track down the writer, Carver Edlund (er.. as in 'Ben" Edlund?? haha), who explains he has visions of the brothers that he then turns into comic books. Chuck reveals that Lilith is coming and she has a plan for Sam. Directed by Mike Rohl, written by Julie Siege."

Hilarious!

I've read some spoilers about the last 3 episodes of Season 4. I am not going to post them here, until I feel that they are a bit more 'official'. But if you have read it, you will know what I am talking about. But so far, the website who posted this spoilers has been quite accurate. I wonder where people get their information from! It's so so cool.

Reviewing It's a Terrible Life this weekend. Hope you enjoyed the episode.

AJ Buckley on CSI: NY & Supernatural

This interview with AJ Buckley (aka Adam from CSI: NY and GhostFacer Ed from Supernatural) was posted on TVGuide today. Two very different roles, but I like AJ, I think he is cool. Can't wait to see the GhostFacers giving Dean & Sam advice on ghost hunting.

Don't miss It's a Terrible Life this Thursday on the CW. I am sure this episide is far from terrible. To see the Ghostfacers in the preview clip again, click here.

How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

I came across a meaning of the episode title "On the head of a pin" on Wikipedia.

"In modern usage, this question serves as a metaphor for wasting time debating topics of no practical value."

21 March 2009

My thoughts after watching Episode 4:16 On the Head of a Pin

"Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek"
Alastair singing 'Cheek to Cheek
'

So much happened and revealed in the latest episode of Supernatural: On the Head of a Pin.
I won't do the recap, you can read about it on BuddyTV. But I will cover all my afterthoughts, theories and questions.

"The righteous man who begins it, is the only one who can finish it."

Dean's life is getting worst! He was sent to torture Alastair to extract information about the angel killing crisis. He didn't get any information out from Alastair who really was one tough cookie! But during the torture session, Alastair told Dean that he was the one who broke the first seal. Alastair said to Dean that when a righteous man sheds blood in hell, as he breaks, so shall it break. You see the reaction on Dean's face, it was heart wrenching, but it was also the best "holy crap, I really screwed up" moment.

In the hospital, Castiel confirmed with Dean that what Alastair told him was true. But Castiel also told Dean that the righteous man who beings it, is the only one who can finish it, Dean has to stop it.

So Dean broke the first seal, which explains why Castiel rescued him from hell.
But what exactly must he do to save the world?! Regardless what Dean thinks about stopping the apocalypse, looks like he is the only man who can do it and he must. Surely he has doubts (he is only human), he is depressed, he doesn't believe he can do it. But he will come around and do his job like he always does. I think Castiel will do anything to help and he will make sure Dean succeeds.

In the last episode,
Dean told Tessa that he thinks he's been given a second chance but she said to him that there is no such thing as miracle. But I think Dean is right, in a way this is a second change to make things right. He is the one who broke the first seal, but he also happens to be THE Dean Winchester - a hunter, a good man. If it was another man, the story would've been different. So if there is a chance to stop Lucifer and the apocalypse, he MUST do it.

What's on Sam's dinner menu? Demon blood served by Ruby

Sam has become so powerful thanks to Ruby's demon blood. Not only Sam can exorcise a demon but he can actually kill it effortlessly! But does this explain what Azazel's end game is? Sam might think that he is doing this for a greater good, but I am afraid this dark power will take over him one day.

As for Ruby, I have no doubt she is 100% evil. She doesn't do this because she loves Sam or whatever. She is part of some evil plan. She admitted in Season 3 that she was ready to follow Azazel's plan, that is, to follow Sam.. the boy who is supposed to lead the army of demons. But there is more to it, I hope we will find out soon!

Traitors in the garrison

Alastair told Sam it wasn't a demon who killed the angels, it was something else. Later, we find out that an angel can only be killed by another angel. Uriel revealed to Castiel that he was recruiting angels from their garrison to free Lucifer. He was the one who killed those angels with Lucifer's sword and he only killed those who said no. Uriel wanted Castiel to join him, but I am glad Castiel didn't listen to Uriel and he fought! Castiel's kung fu wasn't good enough to win but Anna came to the rescue. Uriel was killed by Anna and saved Castiel.

Castiel told Anna that he has doubts and he doesn't know what to do, he is considering disobedience because something is not right.
I actually have no problem with Castiel's doubts, because this incident proves to me that Castiel is a good angel. He has doubts because he knows something is not right and he wants to do the right thing for the right reason.

On Castiel's kung fu fighting

It seems to be Castiel needs more kung fu training! Sure, he is no Jack Bauer, but I thought he would be much stronger (physcially) than what we've seen so far. He lost the fight with Alastair in Heaven & Hell, he lost again in On the Head of a Pin twice (Alastair and Uriel). Come on Cas! Show me some kick ass angel tricks! Having said that, I thought Castiel's telekeneisis and his power to put people to sleep are cool.

Other random thoughts

It's also interesting that this episode kinda feels like a Castiel centric episode. He gets a lot of air time! I love it! Christopher Heyerdahl is brilliant as Alastair! He deserves an award for this role! How evil (and funny) was he?!

Theories and
questions
  • I have a few thories based on this episode, I think Castiel will join Anna, helping Dean succeed their way. Kinda like Jack Bauer, he only wants to get the job done, bypassing the chain of command and standard procedure for a greater good.
  • Sam will use his power to kill Lillith but I think there are still others who can break the seals too. But we have to look outside the square. Demons breaking seals, we get, but this episode gives me a hint that there might be other angels like Uriel who just want to raise hell.
  • How many angels had Uriel recruited? He only killed 7 angels, angels who refused to join him in his quest to free Lucifer. How many actually agree to join? There are more insiders in the garrison and yes, BOTH Castiel and Dean have to be careful. There is also a possiblity that whoever is giving the order to the angels is actually the one who wants to free Lucifer. If so, they are really screwed! There are uncertainty, lies and deceptions amoungst the angels, perhaps this is the biggest test of all, this is the judgement day for ALL (humanity, heaven and hell).
  • Will we see more angels from the same garrison as Castiel? What role will the new angel Zachariah play?
This episode gets 10/10. EASY!

More clips on the new episode: It's a Terrible Life

A few new clips of next week's episode, It's Terrible Life.

This is my favorite! Dean and Sam are actually taking advice from the GhostFacers?! This is hilarious!

The synopsis once again:

"Dean is a corporate man who enjoys health drinks and listens to news radio vs. rock stations. He works at a company called Sandover Bridge & Iron Company alongside Sam who is in Tech Support. It seems as if the two do not know each other. However, after co-workers start committing suicide at an alarming rate, the two find themselves working side by side to solve the murders."

My thoughts after watching Episode 4:15 Death Takes a Holiday

I have one immediate thought after watching this week's episode Death Takes a Holiday:
I am now officially scared of Sam.

Dean!

The Siren episode opened the can of worms. Dean is not ok with Sam, he knows Sam is keeping secrets from him and there is nothing he can do about it. He must be frustrated! The angels told him to stop Sam, he knows Sam can use dark power, deep down he knows something nasty is coming. The whole world is on his shoulder. Dean wished he left with the Reaper, so that he could leave this terrible painful life behind. Dad and Sam would live and Sam possibly won't turn dark if it wasn't for Dean. Dean blamed himself for a lot of things. He needs to go to therapy sessions, but no, instead he talks to strangers about his feelings some times.

Dean is so dead inside.. but I think he finally accepts the fact that God has given him a second chance, and like it or not, he is part of the army of heaven. But the Reaper told him there is no such thing as free lunch, something nasty will happen. Dude! Dean is not an idiot! Not that he follows his order from Castiel, he does has his original thought and he is not going to smite the whole town just because he was told to.

Also, no matter how upset Dean is, he can always eat!

Bad Sammy Bad!

Sam's dark power is getting stronger and stronger.
He can do what other powerful demons can do! It was very enjoyable to watch Sam using his power in this episode. You know he has been practicing, you know he is improving and he is indeed getting stronger. He kicked some bad asses! But at the same time, like I said before, I am scare and it breaks my heart to see Sammy goes dark. And the stuff Pamela told Sam before she died, I would have said the same thing. Please Sammy stop!!

Pamela - R.I.P

I always felt that Pamela is more like a big sister to the boys. It was probably the first time she revealed she didn't want to be part of the heaven and hell fight. But still, she helped and she was the casualty.

What the hell? Guess again!

The return of Castiel was awesome! So it's revealed to us that there are angel proofing scripts/ curses. But thanks to Dean and Sam helped to stop a seal being broken and Alastair (played by the very cool Christopher Heyerdahl) was captured.

I wish Dean changes his attitude towards Castiel, but I see where he is coming from. Dean is very black and white, demons are bad, he gets it. But the angels are supposed to be good, but look at Uriel, he doesn't like human and he doesn't care about human lives. Dean still doesn't know why he is different, he still doesn't know what God wants him to do.
I think he is taking precautions, he is not blind!

Death Takes a Holiday was a very solid episode. It's a 8/10 from me.

The Office: The Terrible Life of Dean Winchester; a smorgasbord of interviews

Interview with Sera Gamble

Maureen Ryan posted an amazing article today on her blog.. When I said amazing, I mean amazing. Please read it
here. She interviewed writer and producer Sera Gamble, who once again gave us A LOT of information on the remaining episodes of Season 4, including the 'office' episode called It's a Terrible Life. Dean (aka an office worker Phil) will be drinking latte* and concerned about the GFC! *I heard it's a soy latte!*

Sounds like a crossover between The Office and Devil Wears Prada. AWESOME!

Is it just me or do you want some interviews with Eric Kripke too? Also, I wonder if Team Supernatural will be at Comic Con this year. I hope they will.

Misha Collins answers questions from fans

I love TV Guide. Read the full article here. Misha reckons Castiel is scared of scary movies.

More interview with Misha

Misha also did an interview with Sci-Fi Wire. We will get to see Castiel's boss. Could it be the new angel Zachariah (played by Kurt Fuller)? Previously reported here.

My Amazon orders just arrived today! I am so happy! They arrived earlier than expected! I have John Winchester's Journal and Season 3 Companion.

This week's random thoughts

Harry Potter & Twilight

I've been reading the Twilight series, I am currently reading Eclipse (the 3rd book), I think I am half way through. I can't seem to get into Eclipse like I did with the first 2 books, may be I was on holiday or may be everything is getting repetitive. Not sure. But I've decided to give it a rest and re-visit Harry Potter and the Half Blooded Prince. The movie is coming out and I cannot wait!!! I've seen the trailer like a thousands times, and it just reminds me the stuff I love about Harry and co. Harry and JK Rowling = the winning combination!

Watchmen

OK saw the Watchmen today. I don't know too much about the original graphic novel but I knew the themes will involve nuclear war, politics, vigilant and the usual superhero stuff. And I want to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I guess the movie didn't disappoint. But I want my superheroes to be superheroes. Ozymandias is a superhero turns bad.. And I am not sure if the Comedian was ever a superhero. Dan
Dreiberg's sideburn bothers me at times (you can send all your hate mails to me for this comment). I struggle to like Dr Manhattan and others. May be they are meant to be likeable? I am not sure. One thing I like about the movie is the soundtrack. I thought the songs were great choices and I think they work great with certain scenes. The great example is the opening scene, Unforgettable was the backdrop of the murder of the Comedian.

Upcoming movies I am excited about

1.) Harry Potter & the Half Blooded Prince: KICK ASS!
2.) Angels & Demons: I need to finish reading the novel, but revisiting Harry first.
3.) Terminator Salvation: I have been waiting for the green light, the cast announcement, the trailer and now the release of the movie.
4.) New York I Love You: I saw the trailer on YouTube, it's good and it's one of those small films I'd like to watch. This is a NY version of Paris I Love You.
5.) Star Trek: Well.. I am not so much, but my friends are excited about it. I think Sylar/ Zachery Quinto looks funny as Spook.

Lost

I am now fully up to date with the current season of Lost. And it's been awesome! My current favourite characters are Daniel Faraday, Sawyer and Dasmond. I think it's really refreshing to see Sawyer as a changed man and I am absolutely loving this season!

Oh.. a message to Channel Seven.. I can't love you at the moment. Why? Because you have once again demonstrated your inability to schedule a great show like 24.

Jensen Ackes in the Venice Magazine

Jensen did a hot photo shoot and interview with the Venice Magazine.

Check it out

Death Takes a Holiday - 4 spoilery clips; JDM & Lily Allen on Rove

Four clips of the up-coming Supernatural episode, Death Takes A Holiday are all over the web and YouTube. Here is my favorite. Also check out MovieWeb.

Lily Allen anyone? She was on Rove last week.. She is so funny! I like her stuff.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was also on Rove 2 weeks ago. He looks amazingly fresh. I am going to watch the Watchmen tomorrow. I will post review here.

06 March 2009

It's a terrible life - synopsis

"It's a terrible life"

IF THE WINCHESTERS WEREN'T HUNTERS -- Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) are living very normal and separate lives. Dean is a corporate man who enjoys health drinks and listens to news radio vs. rock stations. He works at a company called Sandover Bridge & Iron Company alongside Sam (Jared Padalecki) who is in Tech Support. It seems as if the two do not know each other. However, after co-workers start committing suicide at an alarming rate, the two find themselves working side by side to solve the murders. James Conway directed the episode written by Sera Gamble.

Source SpoilerTV

Sounds like it will be kinda like "What is and what should never be".. but both the Winchester boys are not aware of this. Very very cool!!

Misha Collins interview at the 2009 Film Independent's Spirit Awards

Misha Collins attended the 2009 Film Independent's Spirit Awards. Misha is an associate producer of the documentary Loot, which was nominated in the Truer Than Fiction category. See the full interview here. He also talked about Supernatural of course!! Nice!!

More details on MBV3D DVD & Blue-Ray

I am so getting this!! Personally I am exciting about the four pairs of 3D glasses that come with the pack and 2 featurettes. Details here.

With six pairs of 3D glasses in my house, I think I'll need a box for them.

02 March 2009

Ten Inch Hero; My Bloody Valentine 3D; Garden State; Sam is Hulk

I saw the trailer of Ten Inch Hero a few days ago, it actually looks quite good. I think I am going to watch it. I don't think this film will be released in Australia, so I am going to buy the DVD somewhere. Jensen looks pretty weird, but I've heard some good stuff about his performance and the film. So I will put this on my to watch list. The DVD is released on April 18. Check the official blog for more details.

The DVD & Blue-Ray
of My Bloody Valentine 3D will be released on May 26. According to MovieWeb, you will also get a 3D glasses. I have already collected two 3D glasses from the cinema, just in case I have friends over for the DVD later. I was going to watch MBV3D again, but I am going to spend my money on the Watchmen, which is in cinema this week.

The search for Garden State is over. I finally watched this film on the weekend. My local video store never fails to surprise me, they actually have 4 copies! I like the film a lot. I like the soul searching/ going home story line. I like the story, I like the performance of Zach Braff and Natalie Portman. And I love the soundtrack. For some reasons, after I watched Garden State, I wanted to re-visit Sweet Home Alabama, so I did. I cried every time I watched this movie! Dang! I was trying so hard not to, but I couldn't help it when I watched the scene where Mel went to the pet cemetery and when she visited Deep South Glass, realising it was Jake who opened the store. It's a beautiful film!

My last random thought of the day is about Sammy Winchester. I think the rest of Season 4 will focus on how Sam uses and controls his power. Let's face it, Sam has the demon blood in him and he is practising his power with the 'help' from Ruby. He is doing it! There is no turning back and he knows that. Kinda like Hulk I guess.. you have this power and it's dangerous, but how do you control it and what do you do with your power?

Last but not least... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENSEN!!!
