Supernatural Season 7 DVD & Blu-Ray -- Release Date & Details

Mark your diary! The release date for both the DVD and the Blu-ray Supernatural -- The Complete 7th Season is September 18th.

Both the DVD and Blu-ray will include all 23 episodes, plus bonus material such as featurettes, commentaries, deleted scenes and a gag reel. The Blu-ray will include exclusive additional featurette, and UltraViolet digital downloads of the episodes (available only in the USA). OH BOO!

No words as yet as to which episodes will have commentaries and who will be featured in the commentaries. It's pretty safe to speculate that Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Robert Singer will be doing the commentaries. The surprise, if any, would come from the cast themselves doing the commentaries -- i.e. Jim Beaver doing one for Death's Door, or Misha Collins doing one for The Born-Again Identity, or Jensen doing one for Time After Time, or Jared doing one for Plucky. Who knows! That's just me talking! And you know what I've always wanted? The behind the scene interviews and/or footage from Comic Con. A fan can only dream!

"The seventh season of Supernatural put the Winchester brothers in a terribly lonely place.  After losing their good friend and ally Castiel at the beginning of the season, the writers systematically stripped away many things that they loved, including Bobby's house, their beloved Impala, and then Bobby himself.  Although both Castiel and Bobby returned towards the end of the season, it's clear that Team Free Will isn't what it once was.  Not to mention the fact that they spent the season dealing with flesh-eating monsters called Leviathans."

DVD Release: Supernatural Season Five

Hurray! You can pre-order the Supernatural Season Five DVD on Amazon.

I don't know the release date, but I assume it will be at the end of August or September, it usually comes out a few weeks before the start of the new season.

According to Supernatural Fans Online, there should be a commentary by Eric Kripke, Robert Singer and Ben Edlund on The End. You will also see unaired scene from The Real Ghostbusters.

Supernatural 5.16 Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid Official Synopsis; More DVD Art; The Padaleckis & DVR news

Thanks to the awesome Kryptonsite, here is the official synopsis of episode 5.16 Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. We see Bobby's wife!! Supernatural returns on March 25 on the CW.

"IT’S BOBBY’S WIFE! — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate Bobby’s home town where the dead are rising from the grave but instead of attacking humans, they are happily reuniting with their families. The brothers turn to Bobby (Jim Beaver) for help but he tells them not to worry about it and to leave town. Suspicious, Dean investigates and comes face to face with Bobby’s dead wife (guest star Carrie Anne Fleming) who has no memory of what happened to her. Once the zombies start turning evil, the boys tell Bobby he has to kill his wife but he refuses. Episode written by Jeremy Carver, and directed by John Showalter."

Finally, some DVR news. It's so scientific I don't understand anymore. I think the whole world including you grandmom should be watching Supernatural!

Supernatural Season 5 - More DVD arts (volume 1)

More DVD arts have surfaced. Thanks to the Crossroads Podcast and the fake Eric Kripke Facebook page. There is one episode commentary by Eric Kripke, Robert Singing and Ben Edlund on The End. I was hoping Jensen and Jensen would do a commentary on Dean and Dean.

As you can see on the backcover of the DVD, there is one commentary on The End by the Eric Kripke. I am hoping there will be more commentaries from Jensen and Jared and the rest of the cast on Changing Channels or The Song Remains the Same.

My Supernatural Bloody Valentine clips; Another Hellatus

Valentines Day with Cupid, Huggy Bear and the Winchesters

Needless to say, I am on lock down. So here are a few clips if you want to be spoiled. Episode 5.13 My Bloody Valentine airs Thursday 11 February on The CW.

Castiel (Misha Collins) helps Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) hunt down Cupid (guest star Lex Medlin) on Valentine’s Day after townspeople start to kill each other for love. However, after Cupid tells them he’s innocent, they discover Famine (guest star James Otis), one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, has arrived in town. Mike Rohl directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.

Oh Hell-Hellatus!

Oh Hell!! I knew another hellatus was coming, I was hoping it to be a mini one, but this is long! That's right folks, Supernatural will go into a six week hellatus.

SpoilerTV reports "Vampire Diaries and Supernatural will go on hiatus after the February 11th episode and won't be back till March 25th. On the bright side as on March 25th they will have no breaks until the season finales on May 13th."

Review: Supernatural season 4 DVD - Limited Edition for Aussie Fans

Thank you Warner Brothers! Thank you so much for including the Comic Con 2008 panel footage into the DVD. I have only watched a few clips on YouTube, but this is really awesome! Nice and clear! The 2008 Comic Con was attended by Eric Kripke, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Sara Gamble and Ben Edlund.

It was really awesome to hear a number of great questions from fans that are not cliche. For example, some Bella related questions were well asked. Bella is not one of the loved characters by most fans, but I don't mind her and I don't miss her either. I like it when Eric Kripke and Ben Edlund were honest about Bella, they were critical about the development of her character and discussed how they would do it differently so that it would work better. If Bella is tied to the mythology of the show a bit more, her character would have been more interesting. And I agree.

This bonus disk is well presented with the panel footage and some montage from season 4. Although I would have loved to see some behind the scene interviews from Comic Con, but this is a good start.

I have once expressed that the DVD should always include convention footage as they are rare and overseas fans can enjoy the highlight. I hope the season 5 DVD will have the Comic Con 2009 footage.

Another thing to add to my wishlist: I hope the Supernatural: Complete Series on BlueRay (when it comes out in a few years time) would have some new rare featurettes.

To me, I think SG1 has the best featurettes, the DVDs have plenty of commentaries, interviews, individual character profiles, video diaries from the cast, convention footage, directors series (which follows the director of a particular episode, kinda like a director video diary) and the making of some key episodes and more.
