Amanda Oakleaf Cakes has done it again! This time the creative baking team has created a life size Darth Vader cake for the Star Wars Celebration VI which held last week in Florida.
The 6 feet 7 tall Vader was over 500 lbs and fed 600 fans. What about the ingredients? Well, I have not seen this kind of numbers for baking. According to Amanda Oakleaf Cakes, it took the following to make Vader:
386 eggs
2 gallons milk
3.5 cups vanilla
118 cups/ 32 lbs flour
103 cups/ 46 lbs sugar
57 lbs butter
210 lbs of our home-made marshmallow fondant
Man! I wish Creation Con orders a life-size Impala or Dean or Sam or Cas for their Supernatural Conventions!!
Check out Amanda Oakleaf Cakes for details on the Vader Cake.

S.H.I.E.L.D - The Television Series
Joss as Hawkeye.. no.. wait..what? |
This is so exciting, right? How long have fans been waiting for Joss to return to television to tell us good stories? How far have we come as a fandom to see good things happen to this great creative man who is called Joss Whedon?
Over the past few days, we have read about the Whedon-created-Marvel-related ABC television series. Looks like it has been named S.H.I.E.L.D. For those who are not familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D. it stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate. It is a long standing organisation in the Marvel universe and it has been mentioned in the recent Marvel movies -- Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. Did you know, the fictional location of the Avengers HQ is on 890, 5th Avenue, New York. Why do I know these things? Because I am Chloe Sullivan. Oh wait.. wrong franchise! But hey, I have done my research, check out the Ultimate Nerd Guide to New York City which has a map of many fictional locations as depicted in Marvel comics.
Back to S.H.I.E.L.D. According to multiple reports, the TV pilot has been green lit by ABC. Don't expect to see RDJ or Chris Evans in it. But if they are on the show I am your very friendly Stay Puft Marshmallow man. Over the past few days, fans and blogs have been naming their dream cast. As you would have expected from die-hard Joss Whedon fans, we want the entire cast of Buffy, Angel, Horrible and Firefly to be on the show. And I have a feeling that we might see a few to be cast. As long as Adam Baldwin is in it, I am good!
Joss also talked about some of the deleted scenes in the newly released The Avengers DVD and also the S.H.I.E.L.D. series. Check out his interview with Vulture.
So, who is your dream cast? What do you want to see in this excited television series? Let's hear it!

Supernatural Convention - This Weekend in Vancouver
Let the squeeze-fair begin!
Some of my best tweeps are there having the best time in Vancouver. I am jealous. I really am! But I will watching their live tweets and all the craziness from #VanCon on Twitter.
Mark your diary and check your time zone. Get yourself a Twitter account and save search #VanCon and names of guests. I don't know about you but I won't miss a second of it!
Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural will take place this week August 24-26, 2012. The final schedule is posted. Jensen and Jared will once again appear on Sunday only. And according to the website, there are still tickets available. If you are in town or change your mind and don't mind the back of house kinda seats, do it!
Apart from J2, other guests include (first name basis unless they have the same first names) -- Misha, Jim, Matt, Richard, Pellegrino, Sheppard, Julie and Julian. Steve Carlson will appear on Friday during the day as well as the evening concert. Russ Hamilton (Supernatural's Location Manager) will also be there. I am kinda hoping some additional crew member to be there, like Jim Michaels or Guy Bee.
Finally, something exciting is happening! Jensen and Jared's next convention will be at home in Dallas, and then Chicago!

Joss Whedon Returns For More Marvel Stuff
This is the news fans, including myself, have been waiting for. It has been confirmed last week by Marvel Studios that Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with the studios for film and television for the next 3 year. He will write and direct The Avengers 2, and will help develop a new live television series for Marvel TV at ABC.
We know Joss was thinking about it and wasn't sure. But news about his involvement in The Avengers 2 is welcoming, I am so happy I am going to cry. Quality is ensured. Happiness is guaranteed!
It's no secret that Marvel's next phase is to extend their presence in television. Joss' creative contribute will possibly set television history for the next decade or more. Imgaine if a Marvel television series is picked up and do a 'Smallville' (i.e. run 10 years), it will make fans very happy and entertainment is endless! It is also interesting to note that ABC is having success with Once Upon A Time, so they definitely have an existing audienceship of family viewers and they will have no trouble attracting other fans to watch Joss' creation. The CW is capturing that superhero fanbase of WB/ DC as Arrow takes the center stage in Fall. Healthy competition is good and it's the fans who will benefit from the superhero genre. Move over cop and medical dramas!
It's been awhile since Joss has a television project, so whatever Joss is doing, it will excite fans in ways we have not been excited before. Yeah.. I said it.

Revolution Extended Preview; Life After People
It is like watching a movie trailer, except it isn't a movie trailer. It is the extended trailer for Eric Kripke's new epic baby. Although I am not sure if 'baby' can be epic.. but there is always a first time. So here it is, the extended trailer of NBC's Revolution, premiering on Monday, September 17th on NBC. Check your local guide for details.
I don't know Tracy Spiridakos who plays Charlie in Revolution, she was on Syfy's Being Human, but I don't remember her at all. It seems that Charlie could be similar to A Game of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) in terms of the journey of becoming a strong female character. Charlie is prominently featured in the trailer, and for some weird reason I really like that take on the strong female character. Tracy Spiridakos, like Emilia Clarke, can be a superstar by the end of the season!
I have NOT watched the finale of Once Upon A Time, what does it mean to Giancarlo Esposito's character? Intriguing! I am three episodes away from the season one finale of OUAT, I may or may not start writing about it as fairytale is not my usual forte.
There is a documentary by the History Channel which I got into a few years called Life After People. It is probably one of the most intriguing documentaries I have seen ever! It is features a series of amazing computer generated footages on what might happen on Earth if humanity suddenly disappear. Real life scientists, structural engineers and other experts also talk about a number of scenarios, and the impact of human extinction on the environment and the civilization humans left behind. If you are really into the post-apocalyptic genre, I highly recommend this documentary. You won't be disappointed with the footages and the scenarios the document presents. I got the DVD from a local store, I am sure it is easy enough to find a copy.
PS -- I have been swamped with writing papers for my study, which is good in a way because I really want to do well and I am really a lot about writing process. I have a few fun special feature ideas which I would like to focus on in the next few months for the Impala's Trunk, and don't forget the Supernatural season seven awards feature (written by my Twitter friends and myself). So busy! Before we know it, season eight of Supernatural will be here!

Supernatural News Catch Up!
Source |
So, this may or may not be news to you, depends on how much you like or hate spoilers. Ty Olsson (Battlestar Galactica; Men in Trees) will play the recurring role of Benny (aka Dean's 'friend' from Purgatory); and The Hollywood Reporter has reported exclusively that Lauren Tom (Men in Trees; Futurama) will play an "intense and overbearing mother to one of the characters on the show." I love Futurama, but never watched BSG or Men in Trees, so I don't know too much about them but Supernatural does not disappoint with the casting of their guest stars, the show always casts great actors even stun demon #1,2,3! Now, I am just waiting for Jesse Heiman (played Fernando in Chuck) to be on Supernatural! Oh.. and Tom Welling and Gillian Anderson.
OK.. moving one! We do have one returning guest star we all love! Mr DJ Qualls (aka Garth 'Mr Fizzles'). Last time we saw him it was in Party On, Garth. Awesome! I can't wait see DJ at the Supernatural Convention in Chicago in October!! Woohoo!!
Another MUST SEE at the Con is Misha Collins!! YES! On Monday, the CW Boss Mark Pedowitz has once again said some very positive things about the future of Supernatural. He very much likes the show to go on as long as he is here, he is a fan of the show. I like this dude! Pedewitz also reveals that Misha will be in at least eight episodes this season. Source TVLine.
Misha also gave a very semi-Misha interview at TCA, like.. he actually answer the questions.. LOL.. He talked about the 'born again new' Cas who is more like the one we know in season four and five (but I want to see more of the stoned version of Cas as appeared in The End.. HAHA); on the maturity of all characters; and teases a bit about the Purgatory stuff. Source The Examiner
Jeremy Carver recently also talked about the 'back to basic-case of the week-on the road' formula and the overall direction and make-up of season eight. And confirmed he indeed has a three season plan, which could take the show to season ten. Source The Examiner I am really really intrigued as to how Supernatural will look like under Jeremy's direction. I am so looking forward to the return of the show! October 3rd, can you come sooner please?
