Who loves rumors? Me! But having said that they should always be treated as rumors as oppose to information that has been officially confirmed. That just it! Not that I am expecting Supernatural to be cancelled after season seven from a fan POV, I just prefer to wait for the confirmation from the network. Right? I mean, people just believe whatever is out there regardless the source. So I won't post any serious rumor about season eight.

This is no rumor, Misha Collins is indeed returning to Supernatural. PUNKD has tweeted this photo of Misha, Victoria and West arriving at the airport. WIN!!!!!

Random Wednesday Edition - Supernatural; Green Arrow; Revolution

Supernatural is on a mini-hiatus, and so I am doing my own Supernatural rewatch. Where there is a commentary, I'll turn it on. I am up to 2.20 What Is And What Should Never Be (with Eric Kripke's commentary). Such a great episode and I love Kripke's commentary!

Anyhoo.. here is a very cool winner banner for Supernatural. I love it! Kinda weird, because it's not so CW like. But it's awesome!

The CW's Turn On Sizzle promo is kinda hot too if it features more Supernatural.

While we are talking about the CW, KSiteTV reported that new information has surfaced about the Green Arrow pilot based on the casting call. Check out the full article here. I am semi-excited about it. I like Green Arrow in Smallville and I think Justin Hartley was awesome as Green Arrow/ Oliver Queen. I think he should play Green Arrow in the new series, but then again, it's likely that the network/ EPs want a fresh face (not necessary new). Jensen Ackles anyone? I know I know! The guy is doing Supernatural and he probably doesn't want another long-running TV series... I am just saying!! As you were!

The father of Supernatural Eric Kripke is doing a GREAT job on the Revolution pilot according to J.J Abrams. PLEASE MAKE IT! MAKE IT MAKE IT MAKE IT! This is the one show that I am most looking forward to. WHY? Eric Kripke + J.J Abrams = WIN! Here is J.J's interview where he talked about all his babies including Fringe and other new TV pilots.

On other Supernatural news, SpoilerTV has reported that there will be another hiatus after episode 17 (March 16), which works perfectly for me due to my travelling schedule. Not sure when it will return, but I am guessing may be 3 weeks at least? Watch this space!

Review: Supernatural 7.12 Time After Time

Where do I even begin reviewing such awesome and flawless episode of Supernatural?

I was so tired by the time I got to the airport.. having zero caffeine in the bloodstream is never fun. But this week's Supernatural put me in such a great mood. I watched 7.12 Time After Time four times on the flight home. I almost had to put a sign up for the flight attendance -- do not disturb.

During the viewing of the episode, I totally laughed out loud! In fact, I think I clapped my hands a few times. Time After Time is no doubt my favourite episode in season seven so far. It was done right with the time travel concept (and it isn't a time travel episode if there isn't one Back To The Future reference, right? OMG that was totally awesome). The episode's pace in storytelling was fantabulous! After his great work with Slash Fiction, Robbie Thompson penned another awesome episode. His script reminds me of those written by Jeremy Carver. I hope Robbie will continue to write more episodes and to inject more awesome ideas to the show. I for one really want to read the script of this particular episode.

Jensen Ackles nailed it once again, his comic timing was flawless. This episode must make it to Jensen's portfolio to showcase his talent in comedy. Jensen is causing global warming! I won't be surprise if mother natural is feeling the hotness too. We always know Jensen can act. Time After Time is just another awesome example how awesome he is.. (yes, I use the word 'awesome' a lot.) I love the fact that Robbie Thompson did his homework and stay true to all the Dean elements -- you can see the Dean stuff he injected to the script was aligned to his character. You know this is the kind of things Dean would say or do.

Jensen and Nicholas Lea had great chemistry. They made one hell of a team! The Untouchable, right? Do you also watch to watch The Untouchable again, or is it just me? We will inject so many Supernatural references! Nicholas Lea totally nailed the role as Eliot Ness. I love his character! I love it! Eliot's words of wisdom will hopeful help Dean to understand it's a blessing that he is alive, he is making a different, the dead ones would want him to do justice. Writing Eliot Ness as a hunter is the most OMG awesome idea since the prophet Chuck. This concept is up there on the Wall-of-Weird-But-Awesome-Idea since Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, Sense & Sensibility and Sea Monster and the up-coming movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Have I mentioned I love it?

It's no surprise to most fans that Jody Mills was this 'old friend' as mentioned in the synopsis. I love seeing Jody Mills in the episode. I can totally see her role will continue to evolve should the writers feel that she can fill Bobby's shoes, so to speak. What I love about Jody is that she brings that 'mother voice' to the show. Having a father figure has been an element to the show when it comes to relationships. We used to have Ellen, but sadly her character didn't stay as long as we wanted. I think Jody has the potential to be a recurring regular character and I think her support can make a different to the boys' fight with the Leviathans. While she is not a hunter like Bobby, again I think, her 'mother voice' is just what the boys need right now.

Although Sam and Dean were mostly in separate scenes in this episode, however I totally feel the brother dynamic. I love how Dean was inspirited by Back To The Future. I love how the brothers knew each other well enough to come up with a strategy. I love Sam in this episode. And his hair is oh-so-long! I also love how Sam totally embraced Jody as a partner for this case. I love how Sam was concerned about Dean's obsession with Dick Roman and hoped that his brother was watching Anime (which really is an artform), instead of news about Dick.

Sorry Sam, you didn't get to wear a fedora. But can you imagine? I think his hair is too long for it?

I save the best to last. How about 1944? If I am stuck in 1944 and if Dean Winchester is there too, I totally would love to stay and just stare at his hotness. We all know how hot Dean is even if he isn't wearing anything (oh wait.. what..?). But when Dean put on his suit and a fedora…. OMG.. excuse me while I faint… I so want a DVD commentary for this episode.

What about Jason Dohring's Chronos? I admit, I don't know Jason Dohring's work all that well, but his appearance excited a lot of Veronica Mars' fans. I thought he did a great job. One thing though, Chronos' prediction of the future wasn't all that riveting, which could be a good thing.

Time After Time was done the Chicago way. This episode did not disappoint. It is certainly the Frontierland of season seven. So much hotness. Shameless for having a totally super fangirl moment while writing this review. Here he is again!

Supernatural will go into a mini hiatus again after this week's episode Time After Time. 7.13 The Slice Girls will air on February 3, 2012. Here is the synopsis:

DEAN'S ONE NIGHT STAND HAS SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS; THE VAMPIRE DIARIES' SARA CANNING GUEST STARS --- Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate a case where the victims' hands and feet have been severed and each have been branded with a strange symbol. While Sam does some research at a local university, Dean heads to one of his favorite places to investigate -- the town bar. Dean strikes up a conversation with a local named Lydia (guest star Sara Canning, The Vampire Diaries), and the two go back to her place. I think this episode is Jerry Wanek's directorial debate, Jerry has been the Production Designer and now a Co-Producer of Supernatural.

Speaking of the crew of Supernatural, one of my favourite directors Charles Beeson is now on Twitter. How did I not know about this? I love him! He also directed TVD, Fringe, Person of Interest, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to name a few. Woot! I had a fangirl moment when he tweeted back.. *faint*

Jarpad at TCA 2012; More PCA Awards Follow Up News; CW's Cult & Deadman

First thing first, Jarpad is funny and we all know that. He is like a kid on Xmas Day, and everyday is like Xmas. Jarpad is always in a good mood and you can really feel the happiness when you see him live on stage, whether it be a Supernatural convention, ComicCon or any press panels.

This morning, the CW put together the 'Bad-Ass Boys of the CW' panel as part of the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour. Jensen should've been there, but Jarpad said he was working. Other panellists included Kistoffer Polaha, Wilson Bethel, Shane West, Ed Westwick and Joseph Morgan. Reuters has a summary of the bad-ass panel. I found a good collection of photos from Zimbio. You know I can't help it, here are a few I'd like to borrow from that website. Photos by Frederick M. The CW also produced a day planner with photos of their talent inside.. thanks to Danielle Turchiano for sharing the following page/ photo from the day planner on Twitter today. You can follow her on Twitter @danielletbd, she is a huge supporter of Supernatural. I don't know if this day planner is available for purchase, I doubt it, but good to just look at the picture! Yum!

I love how the CW is getting some recognitions out there at award shows, and I think despite Supernatural's big win didn't make it to the main broadcast of the PCA, I think the CW knows Supernatural is a big brother of the network. The cult status, the popularity and the fanbase of the show is bigger than it seems on paper. I really like the CW thank you banner. There are two versions. You can see both version on Spoiler TV.

The Huffington Post's Laura Prudom has this awesome article about a conspiracy theory towards genre shows including Supernatural and the politics behind the snub from PCA. Here is her 'Supernatural wins at The People's Choice Awards, but is there evidence of a genre conspiracy?' article.

As you can imagine, fans felt kinda cheated by PCA. There were loads of questions on Twitter to the crew of Supernatural, including Co-Producer of Supernatural Jim Michaels, he tweeted that they were informed that neither of the awards the show was nominated for would be part of the broadcast. Fans never really have faith in the industry/ network, the politics and the discrimination against genre shows is madness. Genre dramas have always been treated like a second-class citizen. The men in suits will always be the men in suits (they are Leviathans!), and the press is the press. Thank goodness we have fan bloggers who are passionate about this and internet is an outlet for our voices.

In other news, it's been reported that the CW has picked up a pilot of a mystery drama called Cult. Eric Kripke's Deadman is still on the table. TVLine's Matt Mitovich also tweeted that the CW boss, Mark Pedowitz, told him that "the Deadman pilot is very much in the mix for development season, awaiting first script".

It's also been reported that the CW boss has indicated the network is finalising a deal for a pilot order to Arrow, an hourlong superhero drama based on DC Comics’ Green Arrow. I, for one, don't mind Justin Hartley to play Green Arrow. I think this role is his to take! Here is the report from Deadline Hollywood.

Supernatural Wins Two People's Choice Awards

I broke my fast this morning with the announcement of Supernatural being the winners of two People's Choice Awards -- Favorite Network TV Drama and Favorite Sci-Fi/ Fantasy Show. After all the relay of votings from fans across the globe, Supernatural has won two of the biggest awards of the night. Fans have spoken! I am so proud of the show, the crew, the cast, the network, the studio and the fans. So proud to be part of the fandom.

Supernatural had no representatives on the night to accept the awards for whatever unknown strange supernatural reasons. But Jensen and Jared had a little thank you message for fans. Let's celebrate this win with some purple nurple and pie!

This should be good news, right? Supernatural may get a full ride to 10th season, I assume? CW and WB know this is really great news.. People's Choice is no Emmys or Global, but fans have spoken and Supernatural's cult status is like.. EPIC!

Sera Gamble's New Interview; Will Supernatural Go Home With a PCA?

So.. People's Choice Awards is taking place today Wednesday Jan 11 in LA! Will fan's favorite Supernatural win the FAVORITE NETWORK TV DRAMA award? I guess we'll know very soon! It should! Considering the way we voted non-stop! And fans want to see Jensen and Jared taking their pants off again on stage (I am only assuming they will do something crazy like that on stage!) WIN WIN WIN!!!

Should J2 appear on the awards night, I believe this is the first time they are on stage for PCA. Here are some predictions by Life Goes Strong.

Sera Gamble recently did an interview and told us nothing as usual..LOL.. I mean.. in a good way.. I mean.. this interview isn't that spoiler! Except, the biggest thing that I didn't know already was the return of [SPOILER] Mark Pellegrino. BOOYAY! She is so fulling intended to bring Bobby back! Misha will be back.. and we all have been expecting that! Looks like there will be more Frank and Garth (D.J. Qualls). Awesome! Read the full interview here.

Review: Supernatural 7.11 Adventure in Babysitting

The hiatus is over and we witnessed one of the better mid-season premiers. Let's get right into it the stuff I wanted to cover.

My emotion is now automatically adjusted after the festive season. I have come to terms with the fact that Bobby is dead. But I think his spirit is still around. Supernatural is very good with referencing the past. In In My Time of Dying, Tess told Dean how angry spirits were born. In Roadkill, Molly was a ghost and she didn't even know about it. In House of the Holy, Father Gregory thought he was an angel, but he was just a vengeful spirit. I think the disappearing beer is a big clue, it's obvious that it was Bobby's spirit who made Dean's beer disappeared and Bobby didn't go with the Reaper. Bobby wanted to stay long enough to help the boys to fight the Leviathans. I think another 'farewell' will come, like Dean and Sam will eventually give Bobby the last rites.

There are many stories about sprits who have unfinished businesses. It's kinda random, but there is a movie called 2002, it's about a special police unit in Hong Kong that only operates in human-ghost partnerships -- team members always consist of one human (who can see ghosts) and one spirit (usually a dead cop). The spirit is not there forever, when time comes (like when a door or the 'bridge' appears) he will have a chance to reincarnate. Kinda like Being Human. The whole Bobby situation just reminded me of this movie. We have seen a few good hunters turned bad before, perhaps it's time to see some good ones.

The two separate stories in this episode represent the two mindsets of Dean and Sam in dealing with Bobby's death. Sam's mind was clear, he went hunting and saving people. Life must go on. Dean, on the other hand, didn't want the trail to get cold, Bobby died bringing them the coordinates. It's almost as if Dean got to the point where he was obsessed with the case, while Sam knew he had to take a step back and work on other cases in the meantime. There was a sign of desperation too, Dean paid Frank $15K for working on the case? I think it's ok, because this season's story is about taking everything (including the basic stuff) away from the boys -- Bobby and his house, weapons, knowledge, friends. Let's see how our heroes will perform.

I really like Frank in this episode. I think the advice he gave Dean about being professional, and it's deep. Smiling is a job. Everything you do everyday is a job. You're a professional.. so do your job. You can get depressed or drunk or whatever.. but how about smiling at the end of each day.. like a it's a job. That's… deep and hard to do. But if there is anyone who could do this well, it'd be Dean Winchester. He always does his job.

Adventure in Babysitting is a good episode and it gets fans wanting to know more about Bobby. There are some solid guest star performances from Kevin McNally (aka Frank) and Madison McLaughlin (aka Krissy). It is a good character episode. I like Sam in this episode, I think I may have mentioned this before. I like Sam best when his mind is as clear as the blue sky. Jensen Ackles also gave us one of the best performances in a single shot.

The wait is over.. Supernatural is back! While some of us are still digesting 7.11 Adventure in Babysitting, next week's episode is ready to rock. 7.12 Time After Time is set up to be the Frontierland of season seven.... Another Dean's Wonderland!

DEAN GETS STUCK IN THE ‘40S — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) tangle with the God of Time (guest star Jason Dohring), who sends Dean back to 1944, where he is immediately arrested by none other than the one and only Eliot Ness (guest star Nicholas Lea). While trying to figure out how to retrieve his brother, Sam is surprised by the reappearance of an old friend. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson.

Supernatural Season One Awards (Part Two) - Presented by Kara, Amy & Tiny

Welcome back! Thanks for all your feedback on Part 1. Here is Part 2 of our Supernatural season one awards...Let the awesomes continue..

BEST CHARACTER MOMENT

KARA: The book ended moments. The Pilot and Devil's Trap had mirrored scenes first it was Sam saying, “Killing this thing isn’t going to bring Mum back” and then it was Dean saying “Killing this thing isn’t going to bring Jess back.” Their reactions were the same. It just showed how both Sam and Dean had changed, how they both viewed what happened and what they were once willing to give up and what they were no longer willing to give up.

AMY: When Dean finally stands up to John. He does it twice. The first time in Dead Man’s Blood when he tells John, “That’s a bunch of crap” when John says he’s trying to keep the boys safe by not allowing them to fight alongside him and the second time is when his dad takes him to task for not calling him when Sam started to have nightmares. I loved seeing Dean do this. I think being with Sam, Sam’s influence and being a big brother again, finally gave him the chutzpah he needed to do it. I love that Sam and his relationship with Sam had, by this stage, become more important to him that bowing down to his father.

TINY: Dean in Something Wicked -- This was when we started to see Dean's true colour, we were slowly seeing his emotion and weight on his shoulders. He isn't just the smartass, womanizer, there is more about Dean, kudos to the writers and Jensen Ackles for bringing the awesome character to life. I love the flash back scenes in Something Wicked, we saw young Dean was given the responsibility to look after Sammy. The whole getting-approval-from-his-father aspect has been a recurring struggle for Dean throughout the show. I mentioned about Dean's Hero Syndrome before, Something Wicked definitely showed us how it all started.

BIGGEST FORESHADOWING MOMENT

KARA: “I’m sorry.” When Mary said that, man who would have guessed the magnitude of what she was really saying? That everything was partially her fault.

AMY: For me, this is a toss up between Home and Faith. In Home when the spirit of Mary says sorry to Sam and we don’t find out until season four that it was Mary who made the original deal with Azazel, which sealed Sam’s and her fate and set the whole damn thing in motion. In Faith when Roy tells Dean he is a young man with an important purpose, a job to do and we don’t find out until season five that Dean is the sword of the Archangel Michael. Or then again it could be Devil’s Trap when the YED tells Sam he’s special and he has plans for him and the other children like him. It’s all pretty good stuff. Really hard to pick.

TINY: In Home, when Mary said to Sam, "I am sorry." Eric Kripke is a genius! It’s simple amazing how three words can tie everything together!

MOST UNDERRATED EPISODE

KARA: The Benders -- That episode freaks the hell out of me. But that’s not why I think it’s underrated. People often forget about this episode, its got humans as the bad guys, but it shows that monsters don’t just come from Hell.

Honourable mention: Nightmare -- Dudes this whole episode set up the season two plot of ‘The special children’ and also hinted (through John's reaction in Salvation) that John seems to know what Yellow Eyes had planned.

Honourable mention take two: Faith -- The reason why I didn’t say it was the Most Underrated Episode is because I believe in the confines of the season there is an excuse to say there is a reason that it is underrated, but in the bigger view of series Faith being unjustly underrated.

AMY: People put a lot of crap on Bugs but I don’t think it’s that horrible. It’s got some good moments. There’s some nice conflict between the brothers, where we see their different views on their dad and how they were raised and then of course there’s Dean in the steam shower with a towel on his head….hmmm? I think Route 666 with the stupid racist truck concept is way worse. Anyhoooo… Most underrated? I always really enjoy The Benders. I’m not sure if it’s underrated, but it’s one that you don’t often hear people talking about. I love how Dean is so desperate in his search for Sam and like I said earlier, I enjoy deputy Hudak. I love that the monsters turn out to be humans, reinforcing that humans can be just as monstrous as the things of our worst nightmares. I love how kick-ass Sammy is when he finally gets out of the cage and I totally love Sam and Dean’s little banter at the end and how Sam teases his big brother…. DEAN: Never do that again. SAM: Do what? DEAN: Go missin’ like that. SAM: You were worried about me. DEAN: All I’m sayin’ is, you vanish like that again, I’m not lookin’ for ya. SAM: Sure, you won’t. Nawwww! Adorable.

TINY: Something Wicked -- I am a lover of all Winchester family episodes such as Home, In the Beginning and The Song Remains the Same. I think Something Wicked isn't getting the love it should. It has a lot of great stuff that helped developing characters, the brother relationship and the mythos of the show.

FAVOURITE SAM AND DEAN MOMENT

KARA: This is going to sound like a weird one. But in Devil's Trap where Sam and Dean go to save John and Dean makes the off the hand comment about how Dean used to always want to be a fire fighter. In that one moment I believe Sam saw Dean in a new light, that he didn’t see Dean as just an extension of John, but that Dean was like him. Dean wanted the normal life, but he chose to stay with John. I donno maybe I am just looking too much into a throwaway line. I blame the amazing acting.

AMY: I’m going to cop out here and say the whole of Something Wicked. Every moment in this episode whether in the present or in the past reveals something about the brother’s relationship. We see so much of what makes Sam and Dean, Sam and Dean. We see so much of why Dean is how he is with Sam. We understand them better because we see what they went through as kids. It’s no longer an abstract concept, and Dean finally get’s to rescue Sam from the creature he failed in killing when they were children. The whole thing is a great big wonderful dollop of Sam and Dean brotherness from whoa to go.

Honourable mention: Home -- When Dean tells Sam he carried him from the house on that fateful night and Sam says, “You did?” There’s just something so beautiful, innocent and intimate about that moment between them. I don’t know; it just grabs my heart every single time.

TINY: In Devil's Trap, when YEDJohn told Sam to give him the Colt but Dean told Sam that he wasn't their father. Sam chose to trust Dean. As much as John Winchester was their father, Dean was more a father figure to Sam than John ever was. Sam looked up to his big brother the most. Sam trusted Dean more than anyone. This moment really showed how close the brothers were.

FAVOURITE COMEDIC MOMENT IN AN EPISODE

KARA: Can I just say Hell House? That whole episode was full of comedic moments, but gotta love the itching powder.

AMY: Cassie’s acting in Route 666? You’ve got to admit, it’s hilarious! Ok, ok. I always giggle at Dean humming Metallica on the doomed plane in Phantom Traveller. I also like Sam’s very loud radio prank on Dean in Hell House. I love both Sam and Dean’s reactions to that one. But I don’t think of season one as being very comedic. There are plenty of snappy lines, but outside of Hell House, there really isn’t much big comedy.

TINY: In Phantom Traveller, when revealed Dean was afraid of flying. He was so scared he was humming Metallica during the flight! What I really love about this is that it was a well thought-out detail that tied up Dean, the Impala and the style of the show. Not only it was hilarious, it also explained why Dean drove everywhere and it further supported the fact Supernatural was like a road movie, the brothers travelled in the Impala across the country week in week out, and sometimes they were on the run from the authorities. Air travel was too luxury for them and did not fit into the mythos of the show.

Supernatural really gave Jensen and Jared numerous opportunities to shine as actors. Moments like this really showed their chemistry and comedic side.

BIGGEST UNANSWERED QUESTION

KARA: This is going to sound petty, but season one was the season of ‘we will see you soon’s and then we never see that character ever again. So my biggest unanswered question is what the hell happened to Missouri?

But really, How much did John actually know?

AMY: Easy, why on earth would Cassie dump Dean? Ok, ok. I’d always wondered how Dean knew to come back for Sam in the Pilot. But just the other day I read that there was a scene before that scene, which was cut. In it Dean notices his watch has stopped and hears static on the radio and he heads back on a gut feeling. So I guess that’s no longer unanswered! Oh I know! Why do Dean’s eyes bleed in Bloody Mary? What was his secret where someone died?

TINY: Why did Mary apologise to Sam in Home? -- The answer was finally given/ explained in multiple episodes in season four and five when the show revealed Mary made a deal with YED and it was never Mary's intention to raise her children as hunters. I love how Mary was never really there, but she was the missing puzzle of the whole picture.

FAVOURITE EPISODE

KARA: This is a hard one, season one was full of really strong stand alone episodes. I really enjoy Dead Man’s Blood and Devils Trap, but I think I will say Home. Home is just a beautifully written and acted episode. We saw just how that one night effected Dean with his reluctance to go back. We heard about the steps John went through between the death of Mary and then going out killing every supernatural monster he could find. We saw the first signs of Sam’s psychic powers. We also saw that John was very much alive and keeping away from his boys.

That John Winchester, I could hit him with a spoon.

AMY: Faith, as you’ve probably guessed! I think Faith is an incredibly important episode. It establishes another world beyond the ghosts, monsters and demons by introducing the concept of the Reaper, which essentially introduces the concept of an afterlife and a world beyond which the boys had previously dealt with. It also poses the question if there’s a Reaper and an afterlife, is there then a God? It was the first time we saw the boys face a life or death decision by being forced to choose one life over another. We hadn’t seen this kind of moral conundrum before. Previously, good and evil, live or die and been cut and dried, but not in Faith. It was the first time we saw how little Dean values his self. It was the first time we saw Sam step up and take on the role of big brother. It sets up later mythology by revealing Dean has an important purpose, a job to do. It’s the first time we see Dean as vulnerable as this and it’s the first time (and only time) we see him in a hoody....sorry, had to be said! It was also the first time we saw the notion of a binding spell, something that would be later used in the series by the Devil and by the Winchesters on poor old Death…some synergy here don’t you think? It’s beautifully shot. I love the grade on this episode. The colours are muted. It’s filmic. I adore the use of (Don’t Fear) The Reaper and the scene it accompanies. I love everything this episode stands for, so much of which the brother’s have to embrace later in the series. Even Eric Kripke loves this episode. He says in the Season One Companion; "It's when I first realised what the show was capable of. Here's this episode about: Is there a god? What's meant to be? And is there free will? And is your life worth the cost of someone else's life? It's a metaphysical and moral study of the boys' universe.” I think Faith is as close to perfect as this show gets and they managed to get there just 12 episodes in. Awesome.

TINY: Home -- It is one of the most watched Supernatural episodes on my TV. It was second episode with all four Winchesters in it since the Pilot. It took the audience and Dean and Sam back to the origin of the story -- Lawrence, Kansas. It has one of the biggest foreshadowing moments in the history of the show. It was the first time Sam found out it was Dean who carried him out of the house during the fire. It was the first time Sam met Mary. It has one of the very few scenes where Dean and Sam interacted with their mother, and she wasn't possessed or an evil clone. John's "I can't see my children until I find out about the truth" really got us all hooked about the family past, the story and the evil that killed Mary. Just when you thought it was just a random evil-killing-mum story, Supernatural showed us beyond the obvious, the mythos got stronger and stronger throughout the series. To me, it all began with Home.

THE NOSTALGIA

KARA: The Nostalgia. To explain this I feel like I should explain how I first started watching Supernatural. I had just finished high school and I was going on schoolies (those who don’t know what schoolies is... look it up) Anyway I was nursing a hangover, which is really what the mornings during schoolies is for. My friend, which I was sharing the house with brought the first two seasons of Supernatural and was shocked when I told her I hadn’t seen it before. We powered through the first disk and since then I had been hooked. But back to the Nostalgia. Bloody Mary will always hold a special place with me. It was the episode that my whole house sat around the small TV and watched it while eating burnt barbeque meal from the night before. And then came that scene when Mary came out of the mirror everyone was drawn in. It was awesome.

AMY: Wow, can I say the whole of the season? There’s definitely a different vibe to season one, but that goes without saying. It was the beginning and for a lot of us, it’s where we fell in love with Supernatural and fell in love with Sam and Dean Winchester. The whole of the Pilot and Wendigo make me nostalgic, so many great lines, so many wonderful brother moments. Then there’s Dean allowing Sam time with the girls in Hookman and Provenance. Looking out for his little brother. Then there’s Sam telling Dean in Something Wicked that Dean was just a kid and that he should forgive himself. Looking out for his big brother. There’s an innocence to Sam and Dean’s relationship in season one, in the way they banter and take care of each other. It’s not that they don’t love and look out for each other now, it’s just that now they do so vehemently and with such intensity it’s sort of transcended love! Back in season one, it seemed all so simple; their relationship was simple, or at least as simple as the Winchester’s relationship can ever be. So I guess for me, it’s Sam and Dean’s relationship that smacks of nostalgia. As much as I love and adore the later seasons with the rich mythology, as much as I love and adore how deep and complex the brothers have become, I often find myself pining for just a little of who Sam and Dean were to each other back in season one, before God, the Devil, the Demons and the Angels screwed it all up for them.

TINY: Home -- This will always be the one episode I talk about when referring to the core theme, season one and Supernatural as a series. This is one of my ALL-TIME favourite episodes. Home is the reason I became a superfan and the reason I am in love with Supernatural.

Supernatural Season One Awards (Part One) - Presented by Kara, Amy & Tiny

Dun dun dun… A few months ago, when Kara, Amy and I finished with our season six awards project, Kara suggested that we should go back to the beginning and give tribute to season one. It all began in season one when Eric Kripke introduced "saving people, hunting things, family business" to us.

FAVOURITE WRITER

KARA: Eric Kripke -- Supernatural was his creation and really its all his fault. He wrote the most pivotal episodes of season one -- The Pilot, Home, Shadow, Devils Trap. All awesome episodes, all embodied the feel for the rest of the series.

AMY: I’m going to say Eric Kripke for this one. I mean, he created this show and it all started here so he has to been seen as the most influential writing force during the first season. He imagined and created these wonderful characters, wrote in their voices, which, even into season seven, we can still hear. Though the boys have changed substantially, a lot of what was established in the Pilot, of their individual personalities and their relationship remains true today; they were written that well from the get go. Also, some of the lines Kripke created in season one have become staples in the fan vernacular. “Driver picks the music, shot-gun shuts his cakehole”; “No chick flick moments”; “Bitch/Jerk”; “Saving people, hunting things, the family business”; “There’s a storm’s coming, and you boys, your Daddy, you are smack in the middle of it.” He wrote the Pilot, Wendigo, Home, Shadow and Devil’s Trap. Five of the strongest episodes of the season. Home is one of my all time favourites. There’s so much wonderfulness in Home. From Dean telling Sam he carried him from the burning house, to his plaintive call to his dad asking for help, the first time we really see Dean’s tears, to Mary’s foreshadowing when she says “Sorry” to Sam. We didn’t find out why she was sorry until In The Beginning in season four! Kripke always says he had a five-year arc planned; just that one word alone, “Sorry”, makes me believe his vision for the series was pretty much locked and loaded by this ninth episode. So, yeah….favourite writer for season one has to be Kripke.

Honourable mention: Sera Gamble. In season one she was writing with Raelle Tucker. I think Sera is a beautiful writer who reveals an emotional depth in the Winchesters that very few of the writers are capable of doing. Also, she wrote Faith, which is pretty much my go to episode when I need to feel good. I love Faith. Like a lot.

TINY: Eric Kripke -- Supernatural has such as solid first season. Kripke is the genius who drove the mytho, the tone, the characterisation of the Winchester brothers, the writing (including the use of urban legends, music and the writing of the dialogues)... THE LOT! I wasn’t not really into genre shows back then but the thing I love about Supernatural is that it isn't just another show in the horror/sci-fi/fantasy category (which can well be another post as I am totally opposed to the press classifying Supernatural as ‘sci-fi’). Supernatural is a solid character driven drama, above all evil hunting/ horror stories and it's about the main characters fighting for something that's worth dying for, Eric Kripke showed me the one element other horror shows failed to project and perfect -- family.

The family theme can be found in other character relationships in later seasons -- the Harvelles, the Campbells, the Singers, the angels and even monsters have families. Eric Kripke created an unique quality for Supernatural and created a theme the show is still sticking with -- two brothers on the road, saving people, hunting things, family business. Without his vision, especially in season one, Supernatural would've gone Heroes.

FAVOURITE DIRECTOR

KARA: Kim Manners -- Why? Because he continually ‘Kicking it in the ass’.

AMY: Kim Manners -- No contest. Kim Manners was not only a wonderful director he was a mentor to many of the cast and crew on Supernatural. He was already rich with TV directing experience when brought onboard in season one. He directed five episodes in the first season and left a permanent mark on the cast and crew before his death during season four, and though he passed away three years ago this January 25, he remains a strong presence and influence on the show. Jensen says he felt Kim guiding his hand during Jensen’s directorial debut and both boys and the crew still talk about him often and with much love. We all know the bee story from Bugs, where Kim insisted on sitting in the bee filled room in nothing but shorts and a t-shirt, because Jensen and Jared had no protective clothing either. This story is still a vigorously told at conventions, all these years later. In 2011, the Supernatural studios were renamed in his honour and each and every one of us knows his mantra “Kick it in the ass”. And for me, well he was also responsible for so much of what The X Files was and he directed my favourite episode Home. I will never hear Sunshine and Lollipops without thinking of that particularly distasteful family! Kim Manners will forever be in the hearts of everyone who loves Supernatural.

TINY: Kim Manners -- He was a major contributor in setting the tone of the show. His direction helped us to understand the story and the brothers. Episodes such as Dead in the Water, Scarcrow and Devil's Trap consisted of the perfect combination that made an episode a classic Supernatural episode, setting up the benchmarks for others episodes. His vision continues to inspire the crew and new directors such as Jensen Ackles.

BEST USE OF SONG

KARA: Back in Black -- Seriously when I hear Back in Black, in my day to day life, I can’t help think of Supernatural. It was the perfect song (and theme song for the impala).

AMY: Season one set the scene for the use of music in Supernatural. Kripke is famously quoted as saying, to ensure his taste in music was used in the show, he actually put in the Pilot script “CUE MUSIC - and you can take your anaemic alternative pop and shove it up your ass. Dean plays bass thumping, pile driving Zeppelin, and he plays it loud”. Actually, he played AC/DC’s Back In Black! The music in season one was almost a character. The songs were intrinsically tied to the action, much more so than in the later seasons, where the small budget is now spent on special effects and not on music licensing. So what’s my favourite use of a song? Well, I narrowed it down to three…best I could do, sorry. Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter, which plays in Skin and will always make me think of evil, hot, shapeshifting Dean; (Don’t Fear) The Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult, which plays in Faith and which I think is one of the best music cues ever and Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clearwater Revival, with plays at the end of Devil’s Trap and the beginning of In My Time Of Dying, which probably is the best music cue ever! And you all thought I was going to say, “Highway To Hell”, didn’t you! Or did you think I’d say Carry On Wayward Son? Seeeeee! Awesome music!

TINY: Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas -- Never have I imagine myself screaming a classic rock song at kareoke! The song was first introduced to me in 1.21 Salvation. If it wasn't Supernatural, I would've missed out all the classic rock goodies and… Kenny Rogers. Carry On Wayward Son was the first of many classic rock songs I added to my playlist, the song was also the most played song on my iTune.

BEST QUOTE

KARA: You have to stick with the classic here, “Saving people, hunting things, the family business”. No other quote had been able to sum up the entire series. Also... “Bitch” “Jerk”.

AMY: Gah! I think this might be the toughest category. Season one was full of pithy retorts! I could go for just about any of Dean’s quotes here. Or any of the brother’s come backs to each other. The bitch/jerk, the shotgun shuts his cakehole, the fabric softener teddy bear. I was trying like crazy to think of a quote that wasn’t just a throw away line, one that represented the brother’s relationship. I thought about when Dean tells Sam how he wants them to be a family again in Shadow, I thought about when Dean tells Sam that the three of them, that’s all they’ve got, that’s all he’s got in Salvation, I thought about “Take your brother outside as fast as you can and don't look back! Now, Dean, go!” from the Pilot, because really, that’s where Sam and Dean started, but I settled on, “I hope your apple pie is freakin’ worth it!” from Scarecrow, just because it’s Dean and pie.

TINY: What else but "Dad wants us to pick us where he left off, saving people, hunting things, family business." This is the "May the force be with you" to Star Wars.

FAVOURITE GOOD GUY

KARA: This is a bit of a hard one for me. I had to decide how I wanted to approach this. Do I want to have for the stand alone season, or would I let the other seasons dictate my feelings. My favourite Good Guy for season one has to be, without a doubt John Winchester. He was built up to be this God among men.

AMY: Ummm Dean? Am I allowed to pick Dean? Right from the beginning it’s obvious Dean is the archetypal hero. Deeply flawed and conflicted, as all great heroes are. Loyal, almost to a fault. Selfless and brave and deeper than he’d like anyone to know. He’s compassionate and caring, but he hides it behind a shield of flippant remarks and a tough guy demeanour. Not that he’s not a tough guy, he’s totally badass, but just under the surface is a soft centre. He’ll stand in front of a stranger to save their life without even hesitating and he loves his brother more than any other person on the face of the Earth. Personally, I think Dean Winchester is one of the most beautifully realised, written and performed characters on TV, and that’s as a TV fan, not just a Supernatural fan. To me, the ultimate Good Guy will forever be, Dean Winchester.

Do I need to pick someone other than a Winchester? Probably. So, in that case, Deputy Kathleen Hudak from The Benders. I liked her character a lot. She was smart and sympathetic and I thought the actress that played her did an awesome job.

TINY: It’ll be too easy for me to name any Winchester boys.. so how about Favourite Good Woman? Missouri was my Favourite Good Woman. She was very enjoyable to watch and I wish to see her again. Dean and Sam need more 'family friends' especially NOW. Missouri was one of a few friends mentioned in John Winchester's diary. The character definitely has a lot of potentials. She needs to return to the show!

FAVOURITE VILLAIN

KARA: Yellow Eyed -- I know he isn’t seen all that much in this season, and to be fair he is more present in the second season, but the way the Supernatural writers were able to build up a character that wasn’t even seen is just remarkable. And then when this big evil, so evil that it scared their family home, possessed John. Wow. Awesome stuff.

AMY: Oh that would have to be the Yellow Eyed Demon, later revealed to be Azazel. As much as I loved Fred Lehne’s version of the YED in season two and six, the YED was never scarier or more threatening than when he was inside John Winchester, taking his anger out on Dean. That whole scene in Devil’s Trap; you just can’t look away. I think Jeffrey Dean Morgan did a great job with the YED and seeing as that’s the evil son of a bitch that started it all, he has to be my favourite villain.

Honourable Mention: Meg. I love Meg too, whichever meatsuit she’s in…even when she’s in Sam.

TINY: Yellow Eyed Demon -- Supernatural's first big bad! I think YED was like Crowley, he is so badass but he is so fantastic to watch and there is something likeable about him. Is it bad that we all love our demons in Supernatural more than angels? YED and the demons are likeable villains, unlike the Leviathans who are just dicks.

FAVOURITE GUEST STAR

KARA: I am totally, without a doubt, going to cheat in this category. My favourite guest star of season one is... Jim Beaver. Oh yeah, that is cheating. There is a reason why the character of ‘Bobby Singer’ went from just a one episode appearance to a major character for the rest of the series, Jim Beaver.

AMY: I’m going with Julie Benz in Faith. I’m a big fan of Julie, so from that respect I was excited that she was in the show. But beyond that, I liked the character of Layla Rourke a lot. She had a great outlook for someone in her position and her chemistry with Dean was undeniable. I was glad that it didn’t go anywhere, that it just ended with her gently touching Dean’s face and walking away leaving him pondering the nature of faith.

TINY: Jeffrey Dean Morgan -- This was the episode that made me a superfan of the show and John Winchester was a major factor. The appearance of John Winchester at the end of Home injected that family element that I love so much. I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I think he is the perfect actor for the role.

BEST MONSTER

KARA: Bloody Mary -- Freaking hell that eyeless chick. Supernatural had managed to not only build up a common urban legend but they were able to ‘Supernatural-lise’ it by making it their own. But not only was Bloody Mary visually awesome but also the whole story on how she chooses her victims.

AMY: The Reaper from Faith. I love the Reapers in Supernatural. The whole concept that they are there, lingering behind you, just waiting to tick you off their list and whisk you off this mortal coil is fantastic. This was our first introduction to a Reaper and consequential our first introduction to a supernatural creature that wasn’t some form spirit or monster. I gotta say, he was pretty ugly though. I don’t think I’d want to go with that Reaper!

TINY: Demons -- I think it's because the demons were so connected to the mytho of the story, and I've always been a fan of the mytho heavy episodes. Demons in Supernatural weren't just portrayed with heavy make-up or costumes or over the top dialogues, they could be your friendly neighbour or maths teacher. The show's interpretation of demons as characters is so real, it's creepy! Demons are seen in popular culture all the time but there is something unique about those in Supernatural.

BEST SPECIAL EFFECT

KARA: Mary burning on the ceiling. That effect still gets me now, and is one of the special effects that hadn’t changed, why change it, it was awesome to begin with.

AMY: I think this might be more a visual effect than a special effect, but the truck hitting the Impala at the end of Devil’s Trap never ceases to take my breath away. Every time I see it, I’m gobbed smacked! It’s just Sam going, "Look, we’ve still got the Colt. We still have the one bullet left. We just have to start over, alright? I mean, we already found the demon...” KABLAMO! Out of nowhere an 18 wheeler smacks into them! I remember watching this when it originally went to air and jumping out of my skin! Then I just sat there, mouth agape, for like five minutes! And I know it was a fortuitous piece of fate, but how the truck pushes the Impala into the camera just tops off the perfection. One of the best special effect/visual effect/stunt or whatever it is shots ever. Gets me every damn time.

TINY: I've always been a fan of the death scene of Mary Winchester -- Mary in her sleeping gown, pinned to the ceiling and then burst into flames. It was the most iconic scene of the entire series.

WORST SPECIAL EFFECT

KARA: Ok, lets just say it, the demon smoke. I am so glad they changed it to actual smoke instead of what looked like a spilt bag of black seeds.

AMY: I hate, hate, hate the special effect at the end of the Pilot, when the Woman in White and her kids turn into a black blob and splat into the floor boards in a puddle of water. It’s just terrible. I cringe every single time I see it.

TINY: Humm… I actually don’t have one for this category. Cassie?

BEST CONFRONTATION

KARA: Sam versus John in Dead Man’s Blood. That whole ‘You were just pissed off you couldn’t control me anymore.’ We had a whole season of hearing about how Sam and John butted heads, we had a whole season of Dean being like ‘yeah lets find Dad, but Sam don’t be a jerk when we do.’ And then bam!

Honourable mention: Dean snapping it at John in Salvation. The whole ‘I was dying, a monster was at our childhood home and no you didn’t call back, and that is why we didn’t tell you about Sam’s freaky shiz’. The reason why I have put this one as a honourable mention even though I probably enjoyed it just as much and thought it was just as pivotal to the characters we had seen. However this scene seems to be a little bit more important throughout the series.

AMY: John/YED and Dean in Devil’s Trap. I find this scene gripping. The fact that the Yellow Eyed Demon is inside Dean’s dad, who he worships and has been searching for all season, just adds to the intensity of the confrontation. The way Dean just perseveres with his cocky attitude, throws it in the demon’s face that he wasted his children, tells him to stop monologuing. He won’t give the YED the satisfaction of seeing his fear. It’s incredibly stupid really but very Dean! Of course it all goes pear-shaped when the YED decides he’s had enough and just goes ahead and tries to kill Dean. Still, it’s a brilliant confrontation.

TINY: When Sam confronted John in Dead Man's Blood. For a moment, I thought Sam was going to transform into the Incredible Hulk. Sam's rebellion has always been a recurring theme. That scene was almost like bridge connection his past and the shape of things to come. The whole "you can't control me anymore"/ "if you can't save him, you have to kill him"/ "you think I'll go dark side" theme pretty much started to explode from here.

Sam traces his last steps to a truck stop where the help (guest star Meghan Ory) turns out not to be so friendly. Jeannot Szwarc directed the episode written by Adam Glass.

Meet Albus Percival Wulfric Brian.

After we had breakfast this morning, we went to a comic shop. They are awesome because Supernatural was on their TV, Free To Be You And Me. And I found the latest Supernatural magazine -- special! This issue is oh-my-God-I-can't-wait-to-read as it has plenty of convention interviews, including Ben Edlund. My hero!

It's been a good day.

I have a few ideas for the next couple of features and also since I've been eating non-stop over the festive season, I will be working on a piece on food. Stay tuned!

As the files are being backed up to the Time Machine, I would like to take this opportunity to look back on a year of memorable moments that were blog-worthy for The Impala's Trunk, as well as to set sights on the horizon.

January 2011

The best New Years gift for Supernatural fans in Australia was announcement of the return of series (Smallville along with it) on the new digital channel, Eleven. Every man and his dog knew about the lack of support and promotion from the local TV network in Australia, and both shows were off air for awhile. You can't blame us for watching the shows we love so much via other channels. TV networks should distribute shows where fans choose watch it and when to watch it, right? Since the return of both shows, Eleven had been very supportive and committed, and fans are never shy in letting them know we appreciate them via Twitter.

PS: As I was composing this blog post, I saw an ad on Eleven promoting the return of Supernatural for January 9, 2012. Woot! Woot!

In January, I was also getting extremely excited about Creation Entertainment's Salute to Supernatural Convention in LA (also known as LACon) in February. Tinny and I were organising the final details for our trip. We were getting so close, I could smell Misha's cologne and I couldn't get the 'OMG-I-am-going-to-hug-Jensen-Ackles' smile off my face.

February 2011

This was the BEST month of my tiny little life. I was off to LA and New York. I was off to see Jensen & co, in LA! I haven't been able to shut up about it -- I touched Jensen Ackles!!

February 12-14 was the BEST weekend of my life. The experience was unbelievable, not only the cast was awesome, the organisers and the fans were a fantastic group of people. I also had the opportunity to meet new friends, who are some of the nicest people I've known in my life. Thank you once again for making my life brighter. I felt like my life was not the same ever since I came back, it was liberating! I embraced a new perspective and I intent to live a life that is fun and productive. Easy say than done.. I'm working on it!

My iPhone was Jensenated -- it was signed by Jensen, he laughed when I gave him my iPhone. My iPhone 3G has been officially inducted to the Tiny Hall of Fame. Thanks to Tinny for being so supportive and resourceful in finding the right box for it. By the way, it was also her idea to get the iPhone signed by Jensen.

The stage banner was the biggest pain in the ass, but in a good way. (Oh wait...that didn't come out right!) The banner was signed by all guests. That's 100 kinds of awesomes. I just need to find a place to hang it.

February 1 also marked the 2nd anniversary of The Impala's Trunk. As the 3rd anniversary approaching, perhaps I can bake a cake to celebrate.

March 2011

'Jensen Ackles' was the number one trending topic on Twitter on March 1 for a few good hours. It was his birthday in case you didn't realise. I remember I was about to go to bed and then it just happened. Supernatural fans are the best, if you don't know that already.

On the technology front, the iPad 2 was launched. I swear I couldn't wait to buy an iPad back in November 2010, I needed it for work and I needed it for the US trip. It was definitely one of the best purchases. Looks like my next iPad will be iPad 3 or 4. I still love my iPad 1 though.. It must be Jensenated before it retires.

April 2011

April is usually one of the most stressful months in my life, but no matter.. good things do happen. Supernatural season seven was given the green light in April. Not that we weren't expecting it to happen. In April, Supernatural, Jensen and Misha were named TV Guide Fan Favourites in the Sci-Fi Show, Actor, Non-Human categories respectively. Sorry Jared, you shall win Fan Favourite Hair next time.

In April, Smallville's Tom Welling and Erica Durance were on the cover of TV Guide. It was a perfect send-off for the show… I was totally ready to see the finale, in a good way of course. Who wouldn't want to see Clark finally take flight in man-in-tights...right?

As for the theatre, Thor took me by surprise in every sense of the word. It was probably one of the most enjoyable films in 2011. I hope Thor II will be as good!

May 2011

May 23 marked one year of anniversary of the Lost series finale and May 24 for the 24 series finale. Since both shows ended, I have been hoping to find some new shows to follow. With Smallville on its way out, I seriously need to find more shows to watch and to blog about.

After ten epic seasons of a show about the boy who was destined to be Superman, Smallville finally drew its curtains. The series finale was one of the best I've seen on TV. It was the perfect way to end the series. Fans should be happy to see such epic ending, I certainly was.

A few years ago, when I first started watching Smallville, I didn't think I'd like it at all, I didn't think I'd become a fan, I certainly didn't think I'd be so emotionally attached to it. It was such a great show. Tom Welling and Erica Durance are the Superman and Lois Lane of this generation.

June 2011

June was relatively quiet. My sister and I went to Supernova, the pop culture convention in Sydney, it was not a total waste of time. My sister hasn't been to one of these before, so to help her avoiding a 'pop-cultural shock', I told her not to stare at people and freak or laugh. This event gives fans the opportunity to come out once a year to go nuts and be their own version of Spiderman, Superman, Batman, IronMan and Sailor Moon! Let them!

After Supernova, I realised I've seen seven Joss Whedon cast members in real life (including Joss himself) without even try. I am a nerd…without knowing it.

In June, fans welcome Jared (@jarpad) to Twitter. Finally! I think it's a good think and we know this was legit because he did during Nashcon. There are SO many fakers and haters out there. It's good to see Jared put his own stamp on his tweeting. He is awesome!

PS, Jensen is NOT on Twitter nor Facebook. Don't be fooled by those who claim they are Jensen.

JK Rowling also announced Pottermore, an online permanent home for all the Harry Potter contents including ebooks, audiobooks, and a lot of interactive goodies for fans.

July 2011

A lot happened in July, but noticeably the cast and producers of Supernatural were given an epic welcome to Hall H of ComicCon. Hall H was the biggest room at the San Diego Convention Centre, it has the capacity of up to 6,500 seats.

Jensen and Jared are now very confident on a live stage in front of thousands of screaming fans, they were a bit shy and not too lively in their first appearance on a stage like this a few years ago. If you've been to a Supernatural con, you'd experience the chemistry and energy, it's priceless. I got the same vibe from watching the clips from ComicCon. Like other panels could get a bit awkward, simply because the actors weren't expecting the scale and the madness from fans, but Supernatural and SG1 were probably one of the best and most fun.

2011 was also the year I declare my love for Ben Edlund and Jeremy Carver -- two of my favourite TV writers. Just throwing it out there again. They are my heroes. They inspire me to think and write creatively. Jeremy Carver was also the reason I got into Being Human (US). Being one of those who haven't seen the original UK version, I am really enjoying the show. I think he and Anna Fricke are doing a great job as the show runners and writers.

Speaking of my favourite writers, Eric Kripke was reported to be working on a movie Haunted. I haven't had much luck in finding out more information on this. I hope this is a go! I am dying to see more stuff from him!

Three movies that left me a great impression were Thor, Captain America and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallow II. Captain America premiered in July, this also was one of the best films in 2011. You know you can't shut me up, I still think Jensen Ackles should have been the Capt, Chris Evans was good, but Jensen was still the fan's choice. When I was watching the movie, I couldn't help thinking what would Jensen look like in those tights?

Fans also said good bye to Harry Potter in July. I haven't watched a movie where I cried from the beginning to the end. It was exhausting! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part II was no doubt the best Harry Potter film since The Goblet of Fire in my opinion. JK Rowling is certainly one of the best writers, and the Harry Potter series will remind as one of the best, if not the best, book series I've read.

August 2011

Let the ducks swamp the Supernatural productive office… I too contributed to the DuckNation initiative. It was probably one of the craziest things I've done -- hunting for rubber ducks and Legos! Seriously! But I had so much fun… and I still have plenty of leftover Legos.

There wasn't a year went by without a couple of epic Supernatural rewatches. In August, we had the longest Supernatural rewatch ever on Twitter. We watched a total of six episodes, they were hand-picked by Jensen as some of his favourites according to the Official Supernatural Magazine.

I've previously watched Wicked the Musical three times in Sydney and Melbourne, but this was the one time I was dying to watch the show. In August, I flew to Perth to watch Wicked for the 4th time. I was so looking forward to it, I knew all the lyrics of my favourite songs. Defying Gravity and For Good were the most anticipated songs. The show and cast did not disappoint. I swear when I go to New York in 2012, I'll watch it again on Broadway! Still wishing to see Idina Menzel on stage though.

September 2011

Supernatural season seven premiered in September with Meet the New Boss. Cas's fans were concerned about the fate of the character. No worries, SPOILER ALERT, he is due to return in 2012.

It was reported that JJ Abrams and Eric Kripke were working on a new TV pilot together for NBC -- Revolution. Man! I really want to see this already!

In September, I also encountered some technology set backs -- Virgin Mobile sucks. They couldn't accommodate the Lion upgrade and their call centre was impotent. It was an epic fail that they didn't act quickly to respond to change. So backward! I eventually decided to leave Virgin Mobile after four years as a customer.

October 2011

Steve Jobs passed away on October 6th 2011. I was at work, and someone popped up from his workstation and told us the news. We spent the next hour or so online reading about the life and death of the greatest innovator of our generation. The world was never the same because of his vision. Let's hope Apple will continue to drive innovation.

My new iPhone 4S arrived and I was as happy as the one who invented trousers. It was like the best thing ever! Since I skipped 2.5 generations, I find the 4S was so much faster! Tinny also got her first iPhone. I have now converted 80% of my friends and family to switch to iPhone. I am not an Apple Snob I swear!

In October, Jared and Gen announced that they were expecting their first baby. Gen is due in 2012. So, that means, no piggybacking Gen, Jarpad!

October was also my birthday month…

November 2011

After months of searching for new TV shows to watch, I finally found A Game of Thrones. Thank goodness for that! I was so into it, I downloaded and watched the whole thing in probably in 3 days. By the time I hit the season finale, I have already downloaded the books (all of them) to my iPad. Epic! I am currently reading A Clash of Kings.

November also brought us one of the best Supernatural episodes this season. It was very sad, and I haven't talked about it for awhile because it was that sad. Death's Door was a brilliant episode focusing on the life and death of Bobby Singer. I still hope that he is not dead, but I don't know.. the more I think about it, the more I don't know what to think about it. But I guess time will tell.

December 2011

It's Xmas month!! I waited the whole year for it! I have been busy researching and baking with new recipes for cakes and cookies, getting my hair done, shopping for Xmas presses. I was so ready to go home to spend Xmas with family.

I've been baking like crazy; eating and drinking like there is no tomorrow; reading until my eyes popped out; rewatching some of my favourite TV series as planned; catching up with family and friends… I love December!

To end a year of awesomeness, my mum is now an iPhone user.

Looking ahead to the next 12 months

I am really looking forward to the Year of the Dragon. This is the year to shine.

I am really looking forward to all new episodes of Supernatural, Dean and Sam's story aside, I really want to know what will happen to Bobby; how will Castiel come back; and how the Leviathans will be destroyed? I am praying that the show will get its eighth season. That way I know I can make it to another convention. I am selfish I know! Wait for me Jensen!!

Gen and Jared will be new a Mum and Dad. Who knows if Jensen and Danneel will give us some baby news? Personal stuff aside, what I really want to see if for the boys to get a movie deal within the next 12-24 months.

I am already planning to go to New York again. While Nashcon is not happening for me, because they changed dates (and the new dates do not fit into my diary, which is kind of depressing!) I really need another trip in the US. I would love this to be a writing trip.

The Avengers is the most anticipated movie in 2012 on my list. Joss Whedon is one of the most worshipped directors of our generations. He is a fan, he knows his fan and he is an awesome creator and writer. I have no doubt Joss Whedon's The Avengers will be awesome!

One of the things I wanted to do is to expand The Impala's Trunk to a new realm, while I am keeping all the existing awesomes, I am going to canvass new experiential ideas. Hopefully I can align some of these ideas to my life as a writer.

Banana Cake Recipe -- Booyah!

I've been asked about the banana cake recipe I've been using for years, so here is it.

1 teaspoon bi carb soda
2 & 1/4 cups self rising flour
1 & 1/3 cups custer sugar
2 cups ripe banana (mashed)
4 large eggs
1 cup vegetable oil

Cooking time: 1 & 1/2 hour (slow cook at 160 c). My mum has a very strong electric oven, so I usually find that 1 hour is more than enough to bake it. Best to check it after the first hour.

This is the one recipe I've been using, people seem to like it. Hope you do too.

My Favorite Female Heroes -- Lois Lane, Sarah Walker & Elphaba

Since the launch of the Impala’s Trunk, I rarely blog about female characters. Today I will share with you some of my favorite female heroes in popular culture.

There are a few others that made it to my honorable mention list – The X-Files’ Dana Scully, Joss Whedon's Buffy, Terminator’s Sarah Connor, Stargate SG1's Sam Carter, Iron Man/ Avengers' Black Widow, Jane Austin's Elizabeth Bennett (especially the Pride & Prejudice & Zombies version); Leon’s Mathilda and Game of Thrones’ Daenerys Targaryen. But at the time of writing, I wanted to single out three female heroes who I think are the role models to the female species. Here are they are:

Lois Lane (Smallville, played by Erica Durance)

It’s known – I love Lois Lane in Smallville. I’ve never watched Lois & Clark or read the comic books. I’ve never been a fan of the Superman movies. I’ve never been a fan of Superman until Smallville. You can read about my love for Smallville here and here.

I can’t compare the way any characters were written or portrayed previously but I just love Smallville, partly because of Erica Durance’s Lois Lane. I think Erica is an amazing actress, she makes Lois 'Lois'. Lois kicks ass (including Clark’s). Her loyalty and persistence are remarkable. Her one-liners are as awesome as Dean Winchester’s. She is a true individual, she is witty and funny. Lois is perfect for Clark, unlike Lana, Lois doesn’t harass him for information, she is an understanding partner. At times, she feels insecure, but who isn't? The way she supports Clark and her friends (even Cat Grant!) when it matters, we see her true color. She doesn’t need a label to make herself look important. She is confident, she is comfortable. To me, it’s almost like she has no darkness and hatred in her.

Smallville was a story about Clark Kent before he became Superman. What Smallville also did right was the writing/ development of other characters who grew up with Clark (before they became who they were in the Superman story). What I like about Smallville is Lois’s journey in becoming a stronger person. This strong person became someone Clark could trust and rely on. She wasn’t just doing this to feed her own ego or curiosity. She wasn’t doing this to look cool. She genuinely wanted to play a role in the world saving crusade. Lois may not be a superhero with superpower, but she knew her role and she knew how to play it. She was the voice for the superheroes when they had none. She was their voice when they were misunderstood.

The chemistry between Lois and Clark in season eight to ten was particularly strong. It was refreshing because the Lana angst was gone, it was just dragging on and on and Lana, to me, had a weak mind – like the force wasn’t with her, if that makes sense?! I love the way Lois discovered Clark as the Blur and embraced his Kryptonian heritage. I love that she had a bit of fun with it too. That’s so Lois! I think because there was no darkness and confusion in her heart, her mind was clearer than Clark, and she could help him when others couldn’t. It took a strong person with a good heart to help Superman to fulfill his destiny.

And Lois has an awesome down-to-earth wardrobe and hair. I wants them precious!

Sarah Walker (Chuck, played by Yvonne Strahovski)

What I love about Sarah is that she is as strong as Lara Croft, as sexy as Lara Croft, but Sarah is likeable. I'm not saying I don't like Lara Croft, but quite frankly I don't really care about Lara Croft but Sarah is a very likeable character. She is one of the best spies, she is more than fighting and killing bad guys. She is confident, sexy and smart. She is everything Chuck wants.

Like Erica Durance’s Lois Lane, Yvonne Strahovski makes Sarah Walker awesome. She was a little known when she started playing the role (and I bet 80% of Australia don’t know about the awesome Yvonne!) But she is an amazing actress. She owns the role as Sarah Walker.

After watching Sarah’s backstory in Chuck vs. The Cougar, Sarah clearly became one of my favorite characters. Her past was such an interesting story! She was a misfit. She didn't fit in at school (and I don’t think she cared about fitting in), she was laughed at, she was bullied. She grew up with a con man father. She didn't have a normal childhood or a normal life, she didn't have any friends.

What I love about Sarah the most is that she does not like cliché. She actually struggles with the idea of normality and she has to work with Chuck on this. I think Chuck causes disruption, but it isn’t necessary a bad thing. Throughout the series, Sarah was becoming less Terminator. She has to adjust this love thing and to figure out where Chuck fits in. She could’ve been a Carina or General Beckman or Frost. But she is Sarah because of the life choices she made.

It takes a strong-minded person to make good choices in life. I don’t think adjusting her toughness and her spy life are necessary a sign of weakness. I think because her love is strong for Chuck, a new balance is for her to find.

Elphaba (Wicked, played by Idina Menzel)

It took me four shows to truly appreciate Elphaba. I think she is one of the best original female characters ever created. She had always been different in her appearance and her forward-thinking. When others were too weak to speak up and too afraid to help those in needs, she came through as a hero and defied gravity.

What I love about her character and her story is that, it wasn’t about accepting limits, it wasn’t about playing by the rules of someone else’s game. She believed everyone deserved the chance to fly. She may be flying solo but she was flying free. She couldn’t care about what others would say about her in generations to come. She was one of those people who would say, “Screw you, that’s just who I am. In fact, you go tell others how awesome I am!”

For those who were too weak to dream and too afraid to fulfill their own destiny, they could say a thing or two about the greatest witch or tell a story about how Elphaba flew away (the flying was epic by the way). For those who were strong enough, they became heroes and legends. Elphaba truly defied gravity in every sense of the word.

What I love about these stories is that they highlight the fact that these characters don’t have to fit in, they can create a league of their own, they can be heroes, they can be legends. We are always pressured to be normal and to play safe; to do what others do; to be like other; to think like others; to talk like others. I think there is a thing or two to learn from these female heroes. It's a necessity to have these strong female heroes in popular culture. Let's see more in real life.

First thing first... The voting campaign was going HOT on Twitter and Facebook recently. Supernatural fans don't fail when it comes to voting. So we voted around the clock to make sure our favorite show wins. Should they win anything (Best TV Drama or Sci-Fi), I bet we will see Jensen and Jared on the Awards night, hosted by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco on January 11, 2012. Here is a great promo for the Warner Channel. This is a cable channel for Latin America and Asia (not to be confused by Warner Bros TV Network). This is owned by Time Warner's HBO Asia/HBO Latin America Group (as a joint venture with sister company Warner Bros.)

The first official trailer of The Hobbit was released today. I have to say, this looks so much better than I expect, not that I was expecting anything less. This is going to be epic! This is definitely done in the spirit of LOTRs, I am glad Peter Jackson came on board for this. It's been like ten years since the premier of the Fellowship of the Rings.

For those who have been following me on Twitter, you'd realise I've been checking in for A Game Thrones. I've been watching and reading the series. After a few months searching for a new show or two to follow, finally I am happy to declare myself as a fan of A Game of Thrones. True Blood didn't really capture my attention, I still haven't checked out Vampire Diaries. I am disappointed with America Horror Story, I keep forgetting to watch Ringer, and I don't really care about Terra Nova, which is on the same level as Merlin -- I may watch it if I happen to be in front of the TV. I've heard great things about Homeland, this could fill my 24 hole and I have high hopes for Once Upon A Time and Alcatraz, they make it to my to-watch-list. Both Homeland and Alcatraz are coming to Australia on Channel Ten and Nine respectively.

So, back to A Game of Thrones, I intent to blog about it from this point forward, please join me in welcoming the series to the Impala's Trunk. I have just finished reading A Song of Ice and Fire, I shall move on to book 2, Clash of the Kings.

Cool winds are rising... Season two of A Game of Thrones premiers in April 2012 on HBO.

I want a dragon egg.

One last thing, another show that I am warming to is Being Human (US). This show has potential and I do love the relationship between the housemates. Not to mention it's by Jeremy Carver. And I love the soundtrack of the show, the playlist is slowly filling up. Speaking of Jeremy Caver, I have been listening to the Nerdist Writers Panel, Jeremy Caver was on the panel awhile ago, he was awesome and inspiring! I want to be Carver Edlund when I grow up as a writer. You can search Nerdist Writers Panel on iTune, this is truly gold. Let the baking begin

Every year I bake cookies and cakes for friends and family as gifts. I have always wanted to make something for them, but I suck at handcraft or painting, so baking Xmas-y stuff seem to be the way to go in recent years.

So, my baking commenced today with some shortbread. I am happy with the way they turn out. They are yummy.

Enough about me... My sister is a brilliant cook, she baked a mango sponge cake for Mama Tiny for her birthday. This is THE BEST cake I've ever tasted in my life! And it's without butter! Like.. seriously, THE BEST! The taste, the texture everything about it was awesome. It was light and fluffy, it was just THE BEST! She even made the white chocolate herself.

I hope my Swiss Roll Xmas Cottage won't fail.. we'll see! I am borrowing something from Not Quite Nigella.

Dean & Sam Go MAD

I once said, I'd love to see Dean and Sam to appear on The Simpsons or South Park, but I'll take this one! Supernatural appeared on Cartoon Network's MAD yesterday. Details here. I imagine you should be able to watch the entire parody on YouTube very soon. For now, here is the preview:

This totally made my day!!! It's confirmed, our Overlord Misha Collins, is set to return to Supernatural. (Fans applaud..) With Bobby Singer's fate hangs in the balance, the news couldn't have come in a better time.

Look, get over it, he is coming back for at least 3 episodes. According to EW and various sources, Misha is set to appear in episode 17 of this season and at least two additional episodes. How is he going to return? Will be return as Castiel, Jimmy or Leviathan?

Any theories? I don't know about you, but I would love to see stonedCas!

Review: Supernatural 7.10 Death's Door

It's sad. Who's left?

Supernatural writers like to torture their fans. It's known. I am not the only one to say this, but this review is hard! It isn't my intention to turn this review into a Bobby tribute. I may fail.

Dean and Sam aside, every now and then Supernatural would put Bobby's life in grave danger. How many times have we associated Bobby with spoilers on the death of an important character over the course of the series? But every time it was someone else and Bobby was always fine.

No one could ever escape death on the show, including Dean, Sam, the Impala, Cas, even Eric Kripke himself! Coincident or not, I was watching Salvation last night. That was Bobby's first on-screen appearance, but he'd been around way before that episode. When John Winchester wasn't here, Bobby was always there as the father figure. When crap happened to Dean and Sam, Bobby was always there to remind them to stay cool and to help them. He was always there as 'the Costner to their Houston'. Bobby was always fine. Bobby was an integral part of the show's journey.

7.10 Death's Door provided plenty of suspense. Sera Gamble did an amazing job with the script, it was a near perfect job. The dialogues were very meaty, which I love! This episode is up there with last season's The Man Who Would Be King. Death's Door is the Supernatural version of External Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and Inception. This episode took us beyond the wall even Bobby didn't want to go there. On one hand, it was really heart-warming to see what's inside Bobby's subconscious -- his memory of Rufus; taking young Dean out to play baseball; trapped in the middle of a Dean and Sam fight about Chuck Norris and Jet Li. Death's Door also showed us something we've never seen before -- the darkest and saddest events that made Bobby the person and the hunter he was. We always knew about Bobby's past -- about his wife and his drunk dad -- but this time, we witness the details of the lingering darkness in his life. Heart-broken stuff!

Dean and Sam represented two states of minds we are in. Sam was prepared to say goodbye to Bobby. He was scared and he had to find the spot that gave him pain. This wasn't a dream (or nightmare), this was real. Dean, on the other hand, was in denial. He was angry (hot!), he'd enough of burying friends. How awesome were Jensen and Jared in displaying the sorrow, frustration and pain? Dean and Sam took the supporting role in this episode but Jared's puppy eyes couldn't be more sad and Jensen's acting couldn't be more powerful!

"He is not gonna die. It's one bullet. He is gonna be fine because he is always fine. Why are you talking to me like he is gonna die? I do my job, do your job. Save him!" -- Dean, Death's Door

Jim Beaver delivered his best performance as Bobby Singer. Jim always delivered but this time.. WOW! I am too sad to think about this, but I have to ask myself -- was the episode supposed to be a hero send-off? Season seven took a LOT of things away from Dean and Sam -- the safeheven of Bobby's House (the Panic Room along with it), the Impala, weapons, knowledge and Cas. And now Bobby? Really? Could this be the last time we saw him?

Uncle Bobby was selfless, he loved the boys. He wasn't doing this for himself, he did it for the boys, they were the reasons for him to stay alive. Remember Bobby's speech in Point of No Return? He spoke of a bullet he was meant to kill himself with, but he promised Dean he wouldn't give up.

"I have two adopted boys, they grew up great, they grew up heroes."-- Bobby, Death's Door

What about Dick? What about him, right? He is Dick who is a dick! Scare and stupid. You know Dean and Sam will win and send Dick back to whatever the shit hole he's from. Better, he can go to Hell where Crowley can torture him forever.

Death's Door evolved around Bobby's desperation to open the right door to get the numbers, 454895, to the boys in waking world. (These numbers better be as important as 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42!) What do they mean? Where is the story going from this point forward? What about Cas? Will he return? Dean and Sam have lost so many friends, how much more pain can they take? How much more pain can fans take?

One final thought. Sera Gamble is a skilled writer of human emotions, Bobby's memories were well thought-out. Supernatural does really really well when it comes to presenting the depth of characters to their viewers, this is one of the strong points of the show. It's a quality not many shows have. As a hunter like Bobby, it's a luxury to have good memories. Good memories made him human, good memories kept him going. Oh God, I don't want to say it but… it was a good wrap up of the character Bobby. No loose end. He'd helped, he'd done enough in his life. (Cue.... My Heart Will Go On.) Idjit!

It's not a very long hellatus this year. All new Supernatural returns on 6th January 2012 with 7.11 Adventures in Babysitting.

So… Looks like Dean is getting some! I have no idea who this Sara Canning is, I've never watched The Vampire Diaries (don't judge me), but you luck woman you! While I don't expect a HBO style full frontal scene, this steaming one-night stand better be good or the Supernatural team will never hear the end of it!

When can we watch that episode? Episode 7.13 The Slice Girls airs some time towards the end of January 2012. Casting details can be found on TVLine.

I am kinda glad that we have a week off, because I have visitors this week. It would've been impossible to watch Supernatural and do my review. And with the silly season is just around the corner.. like 31 days to go... there are just shit load to do.

So, what can we expect from next week's episode of Supernatural? Bobby must live! He must live! He is the Uncle who lives! After looking at the photos, it kinda feel that Bobby is doing a In My Time of Dying or Inception.. may be he is in limbo?

Review: Supernatural 7.09 How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters

Written by Ben Edlund and directed by Guy Bee, How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters was a really really solid episode. If you want to test a man's character, put them in a confined situation, take all his resources away. Team Free Will has been taken out of their comfort zone by the Leviathans. They really don't know the Leviathans enough to put a battle plan together. When it comes to destroying the Leviathans, they are only scratching the surface; when it comes to the bigger plan, Dick is playing smart and we've only just discovered what their agenda is. If there is a time when we think world should've ended with the apocalypse, this is the time!

Before the Leviathans, at least we have Bobby's house as the headquarter, at least we have a base. But this is crap. Team Free Will don't have a base, their friends are either dead or not so close to them, they are truly on their own. Talking about 'we are so screwed..' This is on a completely different scale.

There are plenty of trademark Ben Edlund smartass one-liners and references. This episode alone deserves a 'How To Write Like Ben Edlund'. I actually think that all scenes are very well thoughtout in the dialogues department (not that I expect anything less from Ben). The dialogues are so good, I have to watch each scene for 3 times to really enjoy them.

The episode is jam-packed with humors and gore and has some of the best SFX I've seen from the series. For a second, I thought we are having a zombie episode, I love zombies! While there are some classic-filler-y Supernatural gory moments, we are back to the theme of season seven very quickly.

Dick! What can I say? James Patrick Stuart hits this one out of the park! This villain is growing on me. I mean, he is a villain you love to hate and hate to love. He is up there with Zachariah and Lex Luthor. He is not smart.. he is very smart. Is it just me or do you love The Rise of Dick CNN-like highlight reel? It's a clever idea from the creative team. If I were Dean and Sam, I'd love to explore the idea of going public as a counterattack. Think about it. I think the whole monster thing should go public, make the papers! Everyone should know about monsters. Everyone should know they have a Jack Bauer…. oh wait.. I mean the Winchesters. Everyone should know they are protected by the best hunters in the world.

Turducken-Slammer-drunk Dean doesn't care that he doesn't care. We have some of the best wisdoms from Bobby in this episode. I hope Dean takes those in and really think about what Bobby said. Like I mentioned many times before, Dean has a hero syndrome, every now and then, he needs someone like Bobby (or Ellen) to kick his ass and put him back on track. Man! I hope Bobby is ok…! My heart literally stopped. We've lost Cas, I don't want to lose Bobby! We still need enough characters to make season eight!

I am officially off meat for awhile.. at least until Xmas. I am not getting drunk from a Turducken Slammer. I am not going to piss off my sandwich.

After 7.10 we will officially go into the winter hellatus. Supernatural will return on January 6th 2012. It's not a long hellatus, I can even watch 7.11 during my Xmas/ NY break.. that's so awesome!!!

My Supernatural season one rewatch is on track. I am onto the last disk. While I revisit Supernatural, I have also started with A Game of Thrones. I am watching and reading the story simultaneously. I am really impressed. Like… I think I've found a new show worthy of download and possibly blogging. I'll keep you posted.

Review: Supernatural 7.08 Season 7, Time For A Wedding

Dean, I am in love.. and it's not fakeRuby.

I have mixed reaction to this week's episode Season 7, Time For A Wedding. While there are a few good things in the episode, there are some not-so-good stuff here too.

The episode was written Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin, I wish they didn't write it. This is a wasted opportunity for what could've been a really really awesome meta episode. Supernatural is usually very awesome when it comes to meta, episodes such as Monster At The End Of The Book, Changing Channels, The French Mistake and Ghostfacers (yes, the Facers) are one of my favourite episodes. Season 7, Time For A Wedding makes The Real Ghostbusters a piece of gold.

While I am fine with Becky to be the centre of the episode, I just think the writing wasn't there to do justice. I know not many fans like Becky but I don't mind her if the material was written right. As annoying as she is, I don't mind her in Sympathy for the Devil and The Real Ghostbusters because I think her support role served a purpose. But in Season 7, Time For A Wedding, the material didn't work for me this time and the whole Becky-Tweeting thing didn't work at all. It's like Dabb and Loflin tried to copy what other writers have done in the past and mashed things together in an odd way.

And why Dean needed help from another hunter when Bobby couldn't help? Dean is more than capable to work on a case like this. So that was a bit random to me.

Like I said over and over again, even in a bad episode of Supernatural there are always things I like. What works for me is Garth and the demon bad PR stuff. Garth is a good character to develop, there are some cool moments and lines from him. I'd like to see him again. DJ Qualls did a really good job, the last time I saw him on TV was on The Big Bang Theory where he played Sheldon's fake cousin. He was SO funny, I was so looking forward to his contribution to Supernatural. The character was a bit underdeveloped, but that's ok. I hope to see him again.

The demon deal story line is actually clever. But again, it comes back to the construct of the episode. The demon made really good deals and then staged an accident so that he could collect souls earlier. It's bad PR, as Crowley put it. Only if Dabb and Loflin could keep everything consistence across the entire episode, it would've been awesome! I mean, they wrote some really good lines for Crowley!

"This isn't Wall Street, this is Hell. We have a little something called integrity." Crowley made quote of the week!

I love Crowley didn't try to partner with the boys this time (like he normally would) but he told them he cleared his troops so that Dean and Sam can concentrate on fighting the Leviathans. Oh Crowley, I love you! Crowley's appearance at the end of the episode made the episode. I can forgive and forget all the awkward stuff.

Jensen Ackles' comedic skill saved a lot of scenes in this episode. The guy is so expressionistic and I love him! I mean, to be honest, Jared is not as good as Jensen when it comes to comedic moments. I love how the brothers were back to good times so quickly before the end credit rolled out. That was a bit too quick, but hey, I'll take it if they don't talk about Amy Pond.

Overall, Season 7, Time For A Wedding was a bit disappointing because we know it could've been a very awesome meta episode. I am not a huge fan of most of the episodes written by Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin but they have done some good stuff before and there is no reasons why they can't do it again, right? I just want them to be awesome! I know they can do so much better than this. They can be the next Kripke, Edlund or Carver, they just need to lift their game.

And bring back the Impala!!!! Stop Dean from driving whatever piece of crap he is driving!! We want the Impala!!

Next week's episode looks really awesome. Episode 7.09 How to Win Friends And Influence Monsters. Great title! The episode is written and directed by my dream team -- Guy Bee and Ben Edlund. Quality guaranteed!

Random Wednesday Edition - Supernatural News; Season One Rewatch

Nicholas Lea (aka Krycek from The X Files) is going to guest star on Supernatural. I am loving the guest stars this seasons. I just want them to cast me now.. oh wait.. what?

Anyhoo.. I am very excited to read about Revolution by J.J Abram and Eric Kripke. I am very happy to hear what J.J has to say about the series and Kripke. This is the show I most look forward to and I think it looks promising! It's a must watch show for all Supernatural and Lost fans. Read J.J's interview here.

Review: Supernatural 7.07 The Mentalist

Good times!

One thing for sure, I am glad Simon Baker wasn't in the episode.

You know, I never mention this and I probably never realised this until now -- I love when random characters 'get' the supernatural stuff and accept assistance from the Winchesters. People shouldn't know what's out there, but when they do know monsters and ghosts are out there, and they get help from Dean and Sam, a simple thank you is nice to see -- Jody Mills, the police in Slash Fiction, Detective Ballard from The Usual Suspects, the mother in Home, the Nigella Lawson lookalike in this episode.. to name a few characters who thank the Winchesters for saving their lives. Not that Dean and Sam ever asked for a reward or anything, it's just nice to see them getting a proper thank you, which could be two of the most difficult words to say. It's nice to see people showing gratitude and respect what they do, which is saving people hunting things..

The Mentalist is very season one to me. The opening scene is a fun one.. the anticipation, the gore and the humour were all there making this scene a classic Supernatural scene. The backdrop, Lily Dale, the most psychic town in America, was kinda fun too. The mention of Ellen was awesome! I like how in a few words from beyond the grave could make Dean go "OK, that's it! Enough of this crap, I am going to talk to Sammy."

Speaking of enough of this crap.. I am so glad SO GLAD it's all done and dusted. Sammy, stop being a bitch! Yes! Thank you writers!! Dean wasn't feeling guilty about killing Amy, who killed four people. It felt right because it was the right thing to do. But hiding that secret from Sammy was killing Dean as witnessed from the previous episodes. Let's be fair, both Dean and Sam have been through a lot of crap ever since they were little. It's easy for the Leviathans to say, "How come these guys can still stand each other?" The Winchesters never give up on each other, the family is dysfunctional but they don't leave each other behind. They stick to each other, watch each other's back. The kind of things they are willing to do for each other is extreme and sometimes creepy (like making a deal with the devil, who does that, right?) but that's the core of the show. It's a journey, there are good days, and there are bad days.

I think the original brotherly love is slowing making a return and this time, it's staying for good. I miss that! And you know what else I miss? The Impala! Baby! Dean can't drive that piece of whatever.. he needs his baby! Bring back the Impala!!! Bring back the Impala!!!! Overall, I like this episode a lot. The whole Dean-and-Sam-sorting-out-their-shit made the episode. And again, thank you Ben Acker and Ben Blacker for wrapping things up. Ben Acker, by the way, is the dude from the Nerdist Podcast, which I love! Check out the podcast when you get a chance, Ben Edlund was on one of the episodes.

Before I leave you for the night, I just wanted to get something off my chest. It's often easier to hate than to love. But I wonder if it's easier to write something you dislike than writing something you love? I think not. I love what I write and I write what I love. Sometimes I don't write perfectly, but I still write because I want to and I hope people don't hate and burn what I write.

Take my favourite TV show as an example, if I don't like what I watch and still write about it, surely that would kill me in the writing process, right? Why bother with something you dislike? It's not like you have to write about the politicians you dislike, carbon tax, unions taking strike, traffic goes into chaos when weather gets crappy. There is no need to bring something down when there is no need for it. Perhaps you should spend time on writing something you feel more passionate about. It's like a marriage, it's not about who's right and wrong anymore, but a divorce could be the best thing ever happened to a couple.

You may argue why hardcore Supernatural fans can always find something they like in any episode. Are we blind? Are we just watching the show for hot guys? It's not a bad thing to find something good in things. I don't want to be someone who always has something bad to say about everything.

OK.. so.. who is ready for a wedding???

Review: Supernatural 7.06 Slash Fiction

This review is to be read with Air Supply's All Out of Love.

What a perfect title for the episode! I was half expecting this episode to go nuts with the honey bunny scene. They kind of did, but in a Supernatural-network TV style -- you see it but you don't see it. The Winchester clones was a clever idea by the writer Robbie Thompson, who is a relatively new writer. This was his first Supernatural episode and I hope he will write more. I don't know what is it, but I think his stuff has the Jeremy Carver vibe. Robbie also wrote for Jericho, Human Target and The Cape.

This episode is what I've been talking about in recent weeks -- dialogues and meat in the script! Robbie Thompson did a fantastic job! The dialogues he'd written really got meat in them and he brought something new to the episode. I love the Leviathan's reply to Bobby, "Not quite the finish as holy water, but not as bitter as rock salt." Classy! For a Leviathan! Another thing I love about the script is the season one call back -- the Lady in White, Dead in the Water etc.. the earlier cases. I love that!

What I love about this episode is that Jensen Ackles and Jarpad get to play the Dean and Sam clones. Fans love some bad boy Dean and Sam! We've seen the bad boy Dean in episodes such as Skin, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Two and a Half Men; we've seen the bad boy Sam in Born Under a Bad Sign and When the Levee Breaks. This is the first time we them in their bad boy clones interacting in dialogues and doing full on bad things together. The conversation in the diner before they wasted everyone was very good. I love that Robbie Thompson paid attention to Sam's hair and the Impala!! Even the Impala has to be in lockdown!! Details!! DETAILS!!

I also welcome Kevin McNally to the show. It's weird to see Mr Gibbs in a non Pirates role, but I love it! I thought he brought some heavyweight acting to this episode. The dialogues that were written for him got a lot of meat and it suits him.

Is it just me or do you also love the Bobby and Jody stuff? It's about time Bobby gets some! It's so cute! And thank you Jody for mopping the floor! I am a little in love with the Montana house. It's starting to feel like a new headquarter! Supernatural sticks to the basic when it comes to their evil hunting weapons and methods, we are familiar with iron, silver, rock salt and holy water, and now.. sodium borate. I bet the Ghostfacers don't know about this one! Next time when facing a new kind of monsters, always start with the household cleaning products. You'd never know, may be Baygone can kill a Rugaru.

Of course, I love all the Pulp Fiction references. Can you imagine if they turn the whole episode into Pulp Fiction! That'd be amazing! And I love Dean singing All Out of Love! INSTANT CLASSIC DEAN MOMENT!!

Let's quickly touch Crowley. It's not unusual to see Crowley to go to the Leviathans with a business proposition. But it's unusual to see Crowley not closing a business deal. He always get what he wants, the King of Hell even got a deal with Castiel! The Leviathan in the limo acted like a corporate PR douche -- we don't need to work with you, we are that good! That's gotta hurt Crowley's feeling! Or better, angry! I think he will go to the Winchesters with the back-to-the-good-old-days speech. And by then, I hope to see the return of Castiel!! Love the organic muffins by the way, nice touch Crowley!

Now that we know the sodium borate is the holy water to the Leviathans, it's a good thing. What's next for Dean and Sam? Are they ready to bring the fight to them and end them? They will need help. They don't want to waste time on the Stunt Leviathan A, B and C, they want to big boss! I think this is where Crowley can help, and I think this is where Castiel can return. I think the dude in the limo is not the big boss, he is like Zach. Someone is higher than him... and I hope the big boss is still inside Jimmy/ Castiel, I think this is how the big boss can be killed. We are approaching the mid-season finale, the story is travelling nicely. I can't wait to see more.

Why haven't I mentioned about Amy Pond? What's there to talk about? The secret is out. She is still dead. Sam is walking away (which by the way, Dean never walked away like that with all things Sam's done in the past)... You know the brothers will be back together! Look at next week's episode, they are working on a case together in episode 7.07 The Mentalist (no Simon Baker please, can't stand the guy!)

Joss Whedon Goes Shakespeare with Much Ado About Nothing

At last year's SDCC, Joss referred to his Avengers cast as "his dream team". As perfect as the Avengers cast is, long time die hard fans know THE Joss Whedon dream team is not the Joss Whedon dream team until you hear names such as Nathan Fillion and Amy Acker.

So, the news is out! Joss completed a 12 day shoot of Much Ado About Nothing, a film based on a Shakespeare play. Joss shot the film in his house in Santa Monica, California with cast so big, I cannot contain my excitement!

I love the idea!!

For someone like Joss to make a movie with a cast this big without any leak to the media, is amazing! He really has a group of very loyal friends -- people who love what they do, love the art, love and respect Joss!

Review: Supernatural 7.05 Shut Up! Dr Phil

We know Kung-Fu!

It's not like I don't like the filler-the-monster-of-the-week episodes, it's just that I love the mytho heavy episodes in the past (and always) more. For some reasons, this is the first time in awhile that I welcome a good and fun filler episode such as Shut Up! Dr Phil. I don't know why, I guess I was just so bothered by last week's episode, I really don't like the whole putting Dean on trial thing, I don't like the idea of making Dean feels guilty. I know it only makes him more human, and I get it, but again it's the writing and the material I don't like. I officially hate Defending Your Life. May be that's why I welcome a fun filler like Shut Up! Dr Phil. Have you guys seen the funny version of Dean and Sam in the motel room? I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the actual footage. That was awesome!

There are a couple of Awesomesauces I would like to discuss this week. First of all, how often do we hear a dude screaming in the opening of a Supernatural episode? That was as awesome as Dean screaming at a cat in Yellow Fever. The dude was not good, he was very good. One thing Supernatural does really well was the scare tactics. The anticipation of Wendy getting electrocuted was well paced, it came down to the writing and the editing I guess. That was awesome!

Although Jim Beaver wasn't in the episode, but Bobby's grumpy-old-man-badass attitude was so well told through Dean's phone dialogue with him. You can just imagine the look on Bobby's face when Dean was speaking to him over the phone.

Speaking of a missing regular, I love the idea of having Cas appeared in Dean's dream. Poor guy, he must be stress! Dean feels crap about everything -- from friends' deaths to not being able to save everyone -- there is always something eating in him, that's him. When something bad happened, he feels responsible, it's always his bad. If Amy Pond kills again, it's on him. If Sam goes dark side, it's on him. The Hero syndrome -- every hero has it, Jack Bauer, Jack Shephard -- that's who they are, they are not the sharing type. It's hard to be a hero's friend or family.

I don't know why, but you can tell when the writers had fun writing the episode. The thought process like adding a bit of gore here and there was very well done in Shut Up! Dr Phil. "There were tiny beating hearts in my cupcakes" was awesome! I gotta say, writers Brad Buckner and Eugene Ross-Leming really nailed it this time! The last time they wrote for Supernatural.. well…. 99% of us didn't like racist monster truck.

There were other random dialogues in this episode, which I love! We know everything about the victim! Dewey Stevens, Rotarian, Methodist, tenor, blue ribbon pecan pie champ, asthmatic…It's a small community in Prosperity.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face when I know I am talking to Agent Sambora, whose sides are poking out.

I love the idea of having Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters in the witch version of War of the Roses (it could've been Mr and Mrs Smith). James and Charisma were so cool! They were both very comfortable in their roles and they nailed it. There were sparks between the Starks. It was awesome! I cannot think of another actor and actress who could play Don and Maggie. James Marsters had the George Clooney vibe and Charisma's hair.. OMG.. I love her hair and her party dress. I sense a return! I don't think it's a random idea from the writers to reveal Don's power to us -- he could petrify a Leviathan. Supernatural doesn't throw an idea out there and not follow through (except Grandpa.. but let's just pretend that didn't happen at all) Surely the Starks need to come back to help the boys, right?

It's not very often we see the Winchesters not finishing a job by killing the monsters. Especially in the monster-of-the-week type of episodes, they killed off most monsters 90% of the time. Occasionally Dean and Sam let them go, for example the vampire Lenore and this time they spare the lives of the Starks. May be the witches are too powerful and may be it's a 'better-get-out-of-there-thanks-for-saving-our-lives' type of situation.

Btw, let the poor man have his pie!!

Anyway, overall, Shut Up! Dr Phil was a great filler episode with a little bit of the Leviathans element. The Cheeseman is stunned but will return. Stay turned for next week's episode Slash Fiction… I love you Honey Bunny!

Avengers Assemble!

Last weekend, the cast of The Avengers made an appearance at New York Con. I was actually surprised, a little, how enjoyable the panel was. Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg and Mark Ruffalo were funny! Chris Evens was so nervous, so cute! You can watch the full panel here! I do recommend it, because it was great!

I was hoping to see RDJ, Scarlett and most importantly Joss Whedon to be there, but they couldn't make it. Which leads to my next question, when will we see the entire team of the Avengers on stage or at any press campaigns? There are definitely enough cast member to make a 2-day convention! I'll go.. For a summary of the panel, check out Film Critic.

Both Tom Hiddleston and Clark Gregg both sang on stage.. funny and awesome! And I am so glad to hear from Mark Ruffalo that his 'Ruffalised' Bruce Banner is more mature! I found the previous Banner so annoying, like he can never control himself. When he gets angry, buildings collapsed!

Can't wait to see this movie!!

Review: Supernatural 7.04 Defending Dean

7.04 Defending Your Life was written by Adam Glass and directed by Robert Singer. Adam was the writer for Mommy Dearest, Like a Virgin, All Dogs Goes to Heaven and Two and a Half Men, and Supervising Producer for tons of other Supernatural episodes.

I'll get to the point. I don't care so much for the Egyptian God storyline. Supernatural isn't known for using costumes, their approach in the wardrobe department is very modern -- even Evil Santa wears a simple cardigan, Baldur wears a suit and no angels wear wings, and Clowns are Clowns. I am not sure if Osiris fits into the Supernatural-urban-legend norm. But then again it's Supernatural, the sky's the limit. I do like the ghost dog idea and the fact Sam watches The Good Wife!

Guilt, is a very important element of the show and it is this week's theme. I've been thinking about the whole guilt thing. But you know what, enough is enough... I am going to turn this around and call it -- supernatural bullying. I have enough of these monsters and supernatural creatures giving Dean shit.

Dean is a hero, his life is all about saving people, hunting things, protecting his little brother. Dean has been carrying a lot of crap on his shoulder since he was five! Supernatural things like monsters, creatures and spirits have been bullying Dean forever -- Famine, Zachariah, YEDJohn and DemonDean basically said to his face, "You're nothing. You're worthless." They, and others, said things to devalue my hero. It doesn't matter how strong you are, stuff like that really messes your mind. We don't live in a perfect world, there are more bullies than heroes. They will always find a way to push you and kick you when you are down, just to make themselves feel more superior and important. That's pretty much how I feel after I watched this episode.

Dean feels crap most of the time, he has a hero syndrome -- he just doesn't think he is awesome! Dean's heart is pure. Why? Because Dean is selfless, he is not a bully. He helps people unconditionally. He never ever has any agenda or evil plan to harm people. Dean doesn't kill for thrills, he doesn't kill to survive, he doesn't kill to make himself feel important. He kills supernatural things because they harm people, they may have a reason or two sometimes, but they kill people. If you're a human and you kill humans for whatever reasons, you go to jail. If you're not a human and kill humans, you get Dean Winchester.

Dean reminds me so much of Jack Bauer -- everyone he'd ever loved or known, died in bad situations. Was it Dean's fault that Jo die? Was it his fault that John die? Was it his fault that everyone die? No! They died because Kripke liked killing off characters! Oh wait.. what? As for Sam, how hard was it for Dean when he had to prevent anything bad from happening to Sam, especially after John told Dean that if he couldn't save Sam, he had to kill him? How hard was it to see Sam to go dark side, and Dean felt helpless for not being able to do anything? Even if Dean didn't 'dragged' Sam back into the hunting life, everything would still happen. Dean isn't the other guy who was killed by the ghost dog, he isn't those dicks in Yellow Fever, and he certainly isn't those jerks in The Benders. Nobody should judge Dean the way they judge anyone else. Dean feels guilty because he cares about what he does, he feels crap because he still has a heart and it's a big one.

So, Osiris, dude, you shut your pie hole!

What I LOVE about this episode is the Dean and Jo moments. It's no secret that I am Team Jo. I have always loved their on-screen chemistry on the show. Jo wasn't exactly a love interest (I know this comment is debatable) and her character certainly had the potential of being a love interest but It wasn't like that. I think the right words were used to summarise Jo's feeling for Dean -- Jo idolised Dean, and she has a massive crush on the guy. (Who doesn't? Right?) I love how much Jo had matured as a character and how much Alona Tal has grown as an actress. She was so so good in this episode, Alona totally nailed this! Her compassion and sorrow were seriously moving. Her scene with Dean was so amazing, I wished she'd never left the show and continued to be there for Dean and Sam.

I am all Dean! I will always defend Dean... like, he jumps I jump. And sometimes, I almost feel like this.. when it comes to the nuts and bolts of character development of Dean Winchester, they should leave it to Eric Kripke, Sera Gamble, Ben Edlund and Jeremy Carver. Don't let anyone else to 'have a go'. If something isn't written perfectly, people will get the wrong idea. Long time fans get it, even if something isn't crystal clear, we always get it. But other fans/ viewers won't get it, they see what's in front of them.. they'll be like, "Oh is Dean is a killer?" Oh shut up! I mean, why is that even a question?

I shall conclude with this: Certainly some very important Dean scenes should have been written better under the pens and fingers of Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin, like the death of Amy Pond, I get why Dean has to do it, I get why this secret is killing him, but the scene, the secret and the situation could have been designed better to get the message across to the viewers. Adam Glass did an ok job with Defending Your Life, but it should be more meaty if you know what I mean?

The Dean stuff requires much attention and justice. I know why I am defending Dean, not only because Osiris is a load of crap, I know Dean deserves better. I know Dean is not a bully. I know Dean is a hero.

And do I even have to explain further when it comes to Jensen Ackles's performance? Give the man an Emmy already!!

Next week, 7.05 Shut Up, Osiris! Oh.. sorry.. it's 7.05 Shut Up, Dr Phil, featuring Buffy's Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters. Is it just me or do you secretly wish Joss Whedon was the writer and/or director of this episode?

The Avengers -- First Official Trailer (High Ten!)

I woke up for this.... The first official trailer for The Avengers is mind blowing..

The one thing that I most look forward to is the dialogues. From what I can tell from the trailer, Joss Whedon has nailed the dialogues and the team dynamic. In a way, yes, it's not the usual Joss Whedon stuff, if you don't know who wrote and directed this movie, you can't tell it's the work of Joss. However, once you see the character interaction and dialogues, I think you will see Joss' signature stuff. From what I can see, I think he, the cast and the crew have done a great job.

This is already one of my all time favorite movies. I cannot wait!!! The Avengers releases in Australia on April 25, 2012, that's one week ahead of the US. Take that!

I love convention weekends.. I know what it's like to be at a Supernatural convention and I can so feel the excitement. I am just so happy for fans who made it the cons and had an awesome time with the cast.

Review: Supernatural 7.03 The Girl Next Door

Supernatural 7.03 The Girl Next Door was written by Andrew Dabb and Daniel Loflin, directed by Jensen Ackles.

All living things must eat to survive and everything tastes better with cheese. Ewwwwww.

The Leviathans are smarter than the demons.. they now have a network of police and doctors to hunt down the Winchesters and Bobby. They are so screwed. They are so screwed. They are so screwed. Sorry. It's Supernatural, what do you expect?

The Girl Next Door isn't as epic as the season openers, but it's still very enjoyable. Jensen has done a fantastic job in directing his second episode for Supernatural. They've given him a heavier episode to work on this time. There are more characters to direct and some scenes are more emotional. Jewel Staite is a great actress, I've seen her in Firefly and Stargate Atlantis, I also met Jewel in Supanova a few years ago, she was here the same year as Jared. She was so nice. I thought Jewel brought the compassion element to the episode, which helps to tell a story and why Sam hasn't killed her then and now.

Back to Jensen's directing... Having two Sams to direct could be tough. Jared is in more scenes this time than Weekend At Bobby's. And we also welcome Colin Ford back as young Sammy. Colin was amazing, he has grown so much as an actor and he was SO SAM! This is the first time Colin carried the flashback story all on his own, without young Dean or John, and I think he did a great job!

What lies beneath?

Jensen is really smart when it comes to using cameras and editing to tell a story. The pace of hospital escape scenes was so awesome. We see Bobby passing a room while pushing Sam in one shot, then you see Dr SexyLeviathan arriving at the Dean's room realising he was gone. Then you switch back back to Dean passing the same room Bobby had three seconds ago, you know Dean wasn't far behind from Bobby. And then you see Dr Sexy and the nurse tried to track Dean down, who was on crutches (so cute). Dean was looking for a way out to meet Bobby at the dock. Then you cut back to Bobby racing to the ambulance. We see more Dean-chase in the hospital. Then back to Bobby who was anxiously waiting for Dean in the ambulance. You were hoping to see Dean to burst out from the doors, but Dr Sexy did.. and you're like SHIT! Where is Dean?! And then he jumped in to the ambulance. Go! Go! Go! I thought I should point out how good these few seconds were. I also like some really cool camera angles Jensen used in this episode -- the panning of the camera on Dean when he was on the hospital bed and when Bobby was racing to the ambulance. To me it's like, Jensen is not a master director, he is only new to the gig. But I think he gets it. He certainly knows how to design a scene with cameras and editing etc to tell a story. So he needs a hug! And he will get one from me in Nashcon next year!

It's very heartless for me to say this, but I am sure Sam's hallucinations will eventually become the materials for funny fanvids you see on YouTube. I love the Girl Interrupted reference! Seriously, this is how you do a Sam centric episode. I think this episode really sums up who Sam really is deep down. He has compassion, he understands what it's like to be a 'freak'. He wishes people understands him. When he meets other freaks like him, he wants to help, rather than to kill.

Dean and Sam certainly are on the same page when it comes to 'saving people, hunting things, family business'. But to dig deeper, Dean is very black and white, he is the 'if it's supernatural, we kill, that's our job' type. But Sam is more the 'our job is hunting evil. If these things aren't killing people, then they're not evil' type. Sam saw it with his own eyes when he was little, he saw it with his own eyes that Amy Pond killed her own mother to protect Sam. The show has touched on similar themes in Metamorphosis, Sam wasn't going to kill Jack, the Rugaru, unless he was evil. Turned out Jack was pushed and pushed, and eventually couldn't control himself. It's not easy, isn't it? We've seen both Dean and Sam struggled with the ideas of what to kill sometimes. Dean wasn't going to let Amy Pond go, there is no way he can know for sure that she won't kill again, if she does kill again and innocent people die, it's on him. I don't like that scene, but I get why Dean does it. Because everything has consequences. Dean has to do it. And when Sam finds out, it's gonna kill him! Things are so not black and white when it comes to the Supernatural. There will always be guilt. There will always be crap.

On other stuff, I love the idea of staying put at Rufus' get-away house in Whitefish, Montana. Oh Rufus! You're awesome even when you're dead! I love the fact the Dean is a crap TV sucker! I love the My Bloody Valentine 3D reference. I love the fact that Sam will never get Dean his pie! And I love cheese… oh wait.. what?

In next episode, Dean's on trail by an Egyptian God. Alona Tal reprises her role as Jo. Don't miss 7.04 Defending Your Life.

Review: Supernatural 7.02 Hello, Cruel World

Hello, Cruel World is very very solid episode. Once again it's jam-packed with goodies! Let's skip the recap and get straight into the discussion.

This is the way I see it -- Leviathan is scared, powerful but scared. Like Voldermont. That's why he wants to establish his territory, his authority, his army, quickly, before Dean and Sam figure out a way to kill him or send him back to Purgatory. Leviathan wants the threats to be eliminated now.

It's a cruel cruel world for our heroes, in every sense of the term. Sam is dealing with his hallucination of Lucifer and he is incapable of identifying what's real and what's not. As for Dean, he lost one of the best friends he ever had; he has to take care of his Beautiful Mind little brother; Bobby is missing; they have a new big bad to deal with; and their headquarter is burnt down.

During the course of the series, Demons and Angels have never touched the Singer Salvage, but Team Leviathan did the ultimate oh-oh -- they strategically removed our heroes from their only comfort zone -- Singer Salvage. Leviathan knows Dean, Sam and Bobby are the only hunters who could destroy him, so he wants to take them out of their comfort zone making them vulnerable as quickly as possible. The Singer Salvage has always been the one place Dean and Sam rely on when they need help and shelter. This is where they regroup, rest, and think. This is where the Panic Room is. This is the Watch Tower, this is the CTU, this is the Stargate Command, this is the headquarter! I really hope the headquarter will be rebuilt!

It isn't the first time Supernatural deals with the post-hell experience -- Sam was tortured by Lucifer and Michael. He is freaking out as he is seeing through the crack of his walls. Whereas Dean was the torturer of souls in hell, he felt incredibly guilty for his action and when he learnt that he broke the first seal, that killed him. Unlike Dean when he was out of hell in season four, Sam is talking about his problems with Dean and Bobby and admits that he is seeing the hallucination of Lucifer and it is driving him crazy. Talking is healthy and I am glad this is not a dragged on secret. Will we finally see Sammy cry like Dean in season four? I was expecting a hug in the warehouse scene!

Ben Edlund, writer for awesome episodes such as Ghostfacers, The End and The Man Who Would Be King, is at his best form! He has once again nailed this to the wall! His humours and pop culture references were all over the episode. The dialogues were very well written. I really really REALLY LOVE the way Sam's hallucination is written. It's a torture for Sam, half-knowing Lucifer is not real, but he doesn't know that for sure, this is killing him. But I kinda wish Pellegrino would stick around, because he is so enjoyable to watch. His scenes with Sam were awesome! Also kudos to Guy Bee who directed this episode. I think he handled the emotional scenes very well. I always like Guy, I can't wait to see his next episode..

Hello, Cruel World also addressed the trust issue between Dean and Sam, and I feel that we are finally moving on with this. Yes, it sucks to come back from Hell, it sucks to be a Winchester, it sucks to be a hero, it sucks not knowing who to trust. But if you can't rely on your family, if you don't care and love, the world will end. I think I am finally seeing the light, if you will. There were plenty of brotherly moments in this episode. I particular love the 'breakfast in bed scene' where Dean gave Sammy a bottle a water and protein and checked his wound. And I love the warehouse scene where Dean asked Sam to believe him -- Dean got Sam out of hell, Dean was real. Lucifer was not. Over the years, Sam has transformed from being a psychic kid to Samifer, from Soullest Sam to Beautiful Mind Sam. On one hand, yes, things will never be the same again for the brothers. But on the other hand, some things will never change -- Dean and Sam will NEVER give up on each other.

Let's quickly touch Castiel. Yes, let's touch him. He is not dead and we will definitely see Misha again as Cas or CrazyCas. Picking up from where we left off last week, we saw LaviathanCas having a hard time adjusting his new meat suit, he went to the water and I don't know what you call it -- rejuvenate? According to the Bible (and don't ask me to specify which version), Leviathan was a sea monster. So perhaps water gives him strength and he is hiding there while his troops do their job. And because Dean is keeping Cas' signature trenchcoat, we will either see Cas in a whole new outfit... or naked. Or there will be a scene where Dean gives him his trenchcoat back. I am calling it now!

Bobby has been the closest thing Dean and Sam have to a father. I know I don't talk about Bobby enough but I love Bobby. He is the Chloe in CTU, the Walter in SG1, the Dr Emil in Smallville (ok… Bobby is more important… but you get my point.) You can kill everyone else, but don't you dare touch Bobby! Bobby isn't just a father figure to the boys because Dean said so. Bobby is really embracing this idea too. I'll go a far as saying Bobby is a better father than John. Bobby is so so important to the boys, especially to Dean, I love how Dean puts it at the end of the episode, "If you are gone, I swear, I am going to strap my Beautiful Mind brother into the car and I'm gonna drive us off the pier." That's how I imagine the show should end, right? I mean, Dean can be very suicidal… I can so see him getting drunk before driving off the cliff.

OH MY GOD

We haven't seen the boys with the medic since the beginning of season two. It only happens when they are REALLY desperate. This is usually when they get help from Bobby or Cas. But calling the medic is REALLY desperate. Like... oh crap desperate.

Is it just me or are you also seeing a mini cliffhanger every week so far this season? Each episode so far was written in continuous format rather than a stand-along episode. Typically, the writers would wrap things up in one episode because most episodes were treated as a monster of the week type of episode. Usually we would only get a mini cliffhanger if the episode was part of a two-parter episode, and then we would get a major mid-season cliffhanger. I am not saying I don't like the monster-of-the-week episodes or the fillers, I just really like the mini cliffhanger format this season. I really like the subtlety of change.

One more thing, Dr Sexy is officially one of the recurring themes/ in-jokes of the show. Not that I didn't think so before, but I love how Dr Sexy is randomly mentioned in different episodes.. randomly. AWESOME!

JJ Abrams & Eric Kripke Team Up for NBC's Revolution

This is my dream team.. I know I have many, but this is beyond word. I was really really happy when I learnt JJ Abrams and Eric Krikpe have teamed up to develop a new TV pilot for NBC called Revolution. Source: TVLine

No further details have been released, but it will be an 'epic adventure thriller'. I so want to watch this. Please get a full ride!

Kripke is also developing a TV show based on DC Comic, Deadman for the CW network. He is also a Consulting Producer for Supernatural, which he created, for those who don't know. Kripke is also writing for a feature horror movie, Haunted. Does he sleep at all?

I am assuming only one of his TV projects will get the green light, I mean he can't be in two places at once. But it is not impossible to have both new shows to get the green light. And I hope they both do! The NBC one looks more promising, not discrediting Kripke (he is my hero), just that JJ is a hot property right now, he is the Chris Nolan of TV land.

I can't get enough of Kripke. I miss his work, I miss his story, I can't wait to see more good stuff from him.

Speaking of not getting enough (not the naughty way), I really need more Ben Edlund and Jeremy Carver, I love their writing, I love their episodes. I guess that's why I am so excited about Supernatural 7.02 Hello Cruel World, and Carver's Being Human. This is probably my favorite new show on TV right now. It's pretty full on sometimes, but I like it a lot.

Review: Supernatural 7.01 Meet the New Boss

The wait is over. This may or may not be the moment you've been waiting for, but a brand new season of review has begun. Enough about me… What about that space junk hey?! Did it land in Canada? As long as it didn't land on my roof because I have Supernatural to watch.

Sera Gamble penned the season premier of Supernatural, Meet the New Boss. The episode was directed by Phil Sgriccia. Meet the New Boss is pretty much everything I want a season premier to be. It is definitely the best season premier since Lazarus Rising and Sympathy for the Devil. It captures my imagination and curiosity. The vibe is very similar to season four and five. Meet the New Boss sets the tone and the direction for the rest of the season perfectly -- we are going to a very very dark place where Dean and Sam will need to find new ways to overcome danger and fear.

Unlike season six, season seven has already established the big bad from the get go and I like it a lot! In season six, the big bad wasn't revealed until later and just when we thought the Mother was IT, the writers threw us the curve ball. I am not saying the writers won't throw us another curve ball this seasons (and in fact, I like it), but it's refreshing to see the direction is defined -- the big bad for season seven is revealed, Leviathan, the biblical ancient beast.

When it comes to Supernatural, the story idea must be based on an existing lore, that's the rule set by Eric Kripke. I thought to myself, what can the writers possibly come up with this year? We have seen many kinds of supernatural creatures including demons, angels, even ghouls and fairies! But the creative team never cease to be awesome. I think they have picked the best monster for this season. According to Death, God created Leviathan long before he created angels and humans, but God sent it to Purgatory because it was dangerous beyond control, like ... the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Leviathan was mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as well as Jewish, Middle Eastern and Christianity literature. Leviathan was a sea monster and one of the seven princes of Hell and gatekeeper of hell. I am so ready for many badass actions!

Meet the New Moss is essentially about establishing the big problems Dean and Sam have to deal with this season. Godstiel had no intention of smiting Team Free Will -- simply because the CW has no intention of ending Supernatural yet, and because the cast is hot and adorable. Gostiel wasted no time to smite those we secretly wanted him to smite -- corrupted politicians, priests and motivation speakers. That was clever. I think the creative team nailed this one, they have once again brought us something not cliche. And there is something VERY Supernatural, VERY Kripke about these smiting targets! Apart from the smiting, what I really like about Godstiel is that he was also helping people -- the blind man scene was very very good.

To establish his position as the new boss, Godstiel went to the King of Hell, Crowley, to give him a job and a chance of survival. Crowley, who had been hiding in a trailer from Godstiel, wasn't complaining because he just wanted to survive and maintain his position as the King of Hell.. may be to get a new tailor or go to therapy.

Godstiel is dangerous and he doesn't even know it. Dean and Sam needed to come up with a solution quickly to destroy Godstiel before he eventually destroyed the world. The brothers summoned Crowley and demanded him to give them the spell that could bound Death, who claimed to have the ability to reap God back in season five. It's a dangerous move, but like Sam said, a spell is a spell. Good one Sammy! I like the fact that the show is giving Dean and Sam more help. Before they didn't really have anyone to go to except Bobby, the majority of their hunter friends were killed by Meg in one episode back in season one, and they don't have many allies who are still alive. Having Crowley around is a good thing, and we love Mark Sheppard! A few more hunters will be introduced this seasons, I hope they don't get killed too soon, I guess we'll wait and see.

Oh.. Hello Death! I love Death! I think Julian Richings is an awesome actor! I cannot think of any Death in popular culture who is as good as Julian! This is why he gets invited to fans conventions!! I love that Dean paid attention to the details, there is only one way to talk to Death -- pickle chips and milkshake. Team Free Will summoned Death, who was bounded by a spell Crowley gave them. They wanted Death to kill Cas. Just when I thought this bounding Death plot will go on for a bit, it was resolved very quickly in the episode. Godstiel showed up and confronted Team Free Will and Death. This is the one scene I most looked forward to after I saw the promotion photos a few weeks ago. I thought Julian and Misha really nailed this scene. Death was calm and collective, Cas was justifying his action like a child and he was pissed because nobody understood him. Death didn't get to kill Cas because he effortlessly unbounded Death. Cas gave Dean the dirty look and then he disappeared to do more smiting. Guess he was in a hurry!

Death wasn't going anyway without eating pickle fries and milkshake Dean bought for him. Death was pissed, but he wasn't yelling, just honest words and death stares (and he owns those death stares). I love it when Death gave Dean a lesson, Dean was always scared but Death always helped. His agenda? I don't know, but I think Death secretly loves Dean, like Snape loves Harry, you know?

Death told Dean how to resolve the Cas solution, which wasn't hard to do apparently. To clean up this mess, the boys must get Cas to release those souls back to Purgatory, quickly. My favourite part is when Bobby said eclipse was over, and Death said he'd just make another. Death seems to be powerful than we thought, he has this God-like power. Am I the only one who thinks Death and God could be the same entity? Just saying!

We soon found out there is something wrong with Cas and he knows it too. The souls inside his body wanted to get out and his meatsuit was melting. It was just a matter of time he exploded. This episode has some very cool special effects, which doesn't happen often in the season premier, perhaps they get more budget this year? I was really impressed with the Voldermont-tried-to-get-out-of- Cas' body special effect. Cas was also hearing voices too, for a second I thought it was the voice of God, but it's more like the voices of the souls inside his body. By the time Cas realised he was no God, he needed help. For the first time in a long time, in my view anyway, he asked Dean and Sam for help. That was the best decision Cas made since the season four finale. It gave us one comfort -- our adorable angel Cas was back, although not for long, but he was back and he was very sorry. But of course good things don't happen to good people. When Cas was ready to release all the souls back to the Purgatory, it was too late. The ancient beast, Leviathan, was unleashed and it cannot wait to play Charlie Sheen… or do you prefer the Joker? Mwahahaha…

Before I continue, let me get one thing out of the way. If I don't say it sooner, I will never forgive myself -- I just want to say… Jensen Ackles.. you are so hot. Your hair is longer and it's so hot. You're wearing that jumpsuit fixing your baby the Impala, is so hot.

OK.. where were we?

Sera and Bob have warned us a few days ago in an interview about Dean's state of emotion and the weight on his shoulder. Dean has crap load of problems to deal with this season -- Sam, the Impala and CrazyCas. The weight on Dean's shoulder will get heavier and heavier. It's like a really bad migraine, it tortures you slowly. The world is always going to end bloody, so all Dean can do is to fix the Impala; watch some Asian cartoon porn; wait for Sam to wake up and then give him a beer. The brothers have no weapons of any kind to destroy Godstiel, but if he is not looking for them to smite them, they ain't looking for him.

Dean is relieved Sam's souls are all back in one piece. If there are complications, he will deal with it (and he will be dealing with Sam's damaged soul a lot this season). The big brother never gives up on the little brother… that's what we like to see. And we love seeing Dean and Sam working on the Impala together.

When it comes to Castiel, it's like Dean has already given up on his angel friend. But not being to help his friend is also killing him. But I think in the end he forgives Cas and I believe he will do everything to save Cas who is still inside that meatsuit, battling Leviathan.

Ten minutes into the episode and we've already seen Sam hearing things and having illusions of hell on a number of occasions. Sam's soul has been ripped to pieces, toyed with, his soul is so damaged. Poor Sammy! He is scared, but he doesn't want to tell Dean, and he is even seeing Lucifer (by the way, Mark Pellegrino's guest appearance surprised me in a way no words can describe it! You sure kept it a secret!). Lucifer is so awesome, this statement is so wrong in many ways, but yeah he is so badass! Telling Sam, perhaps this was his best torture yet, making Sam to believe he is free but he is not. BOO! Sam may or may not believe it, but we will find out next week! Sam just disappeared at the end of the episode, wondered if he left to get a burger or something?

What I like about Sam in this episode is that he brought compassion to the episode, he doesn't see Cas as God or enemy, he still sees him as a friend who needs help. He was in Cas' position before -- the road to hell is paved with good intention. When he prayed to Cas in the junkyard, that was a beautiful scene. Notice how dark the entire episode was, and the junkyard scene was shot outdoor with the beautiful sun in the background. Perhaps suggesting the light at the end of the tunnel for Cas? I love when Sam said "Let us help." I think Sam is more puppy-eye-y than usual, while Dean is like: "Can we catch a break? We never catch a break.. Ah! I need some Asian cartoon porn."

Misha Collin nailed his performance in this episode!! The character transition from normalCas to crazyCas in the same scene was good enough to give him an award for the Best Supporting Actor I hope I'll see CrazyCas more. This is a brilliant opportunity for Misha to have fun with his acting. I cannot wait to see more!!

What about Crowley? In this episode, we saw him from hiding in the trailer to getting job back, and then he was conspiring against Cas with Team Free Will. But now Cas is sort of gone, Leviathan is unleashed. What would Crowley do?

Let's quickly talk about the new opening title card, which I love, by the way. It's black and white, perhaps suggesting everything is just black and white? Last time, I spent the whole season trying to figure out what the mirror effect meant!

Overall, Meet the New Boss was ten kinds of awesome! The episode featured so many storylines, it was full on! But the pace was really good, you don't feel they were rushing things. So, well done from the creative team! I can feel it, season seven is shaping up to be a great great season.

The vengeful god is putting people on trial for their past mistakes and killing them if found guilty. Osiris hones in on Dean's guilt and decides he's the next to stand trial. Here's how my day works. I get out of bed. I get ready for work. I catch the bus. I get to work. I work. I eat. I drink coffee. Occasionally I move my ass if I'm not too busy. After a day dealing with people, I go home. In between these actions, I catch Supernatural news and I get on Twitter reporting for duty. I call it research.

On a big news day like today, it's very busy. I am talking about Supernatural of course, who cares about what I do at work! My Twitter timeline is exploded with spoilers today! I swear this is the only thing that keeps me going! I love these guys, that's all.. I can post embedded link with BlogPress, so if you haven't seen J2 on this week's MTV's 10 On Top, click here. Supernatural makes it to the number two spot this week. Who is number one? I honestly don't give a damn.

On another exciting news for Aussie fans, Eleven is fast-tracking season seven of Supernatural, starting from Monday 3rd October 8:30PM. This is one week after the US. Smallville is currently scheduled to follow Supernatural. This is exciting! This is a great lead in for Smallville. It's funny, because it used to be the other way around on the CW. But I love it! I will be watching both shows regardless. Source TVTonight. With Being Human's season finale is airing tomorrow night, Eleven needs shows to go on, I think they are doing a fantastic job so far. I wish they will follow through.

I am bracing for another busy season for episode review. Yay! I am so excited about season seven, more so than season six because there is a new storyline and this time, I actually know how to expect the unexpected.

Life sucks without Internet -- Aussie Telcos, I wish I could love you more.. or at all

I just wanted to start by a negative remark regarding telcos in Australia, they are so disappointing. If you are one of the biggest in the country, why are you so beyond with technology and service? Occasionally I enjoy retail experience, you get the face-to-face personalized service. The retail staff is the face of the brand, the role of the customer-facing front-line staff is important. I honestly did not expect to see staff literally lying on the sofa, yawning, falling asleep at a major telco retail store in the city when I walked in. They simply did not care, their voice was lazy and sleepy, unprofessional, slack and lack of knowledge. I honestly don't know why you still have a job. If I were your boss, I'd fire you on the spot. They were nothing but a waste of time.

So I left and went home to call the tech support instead. I should mention earlier that I was having issues with my USB wireless modem, it is not compatible with my newly upgraded Lion aka 10.7. That's fine, because I know I could always get the mini modern, pocket wifi thing. But I thought I give it one momay try, may be they just haven't released a new software update online. So I called the technical support.

When I asked if they are compatible with Lion, they said: "Sorry, we are not compatible with the new OS. But you can still use it." I thought, ok that's good, it's a sign. But no, wait for it.. I asked, "OK, tell me how." The lady said, "You can downgrade to 10.6."

What a dumb-ass reply! She also gave me some reconfiguration for PC, I am like I DON'T USE A FUDGING PC! I NEVER WILL! There are other things too, but after 30 mins on the phone, I cancelled the service. There was an awkward 30 seconds dead air. Jesus Christ. I know they could've upsell their pocket wifi device to me, but no. The attitude was like FINE THEN! So I was like.. Fine then! You just lost a customer.

It's interesting, my friend said may they didn't go to WWDC. It's been a few months since Lion was released, surely you have enough time to figure out whatever the problem is. Why is this happening? This should be easy, right? I still stand by the fact that the industry has to get moving, and don't fall behind. But obviously some people will never catch up even if they try. Too harsh? I am just a pissed off customer right now.

So, I have moved on to another telco, I have decided to try their pre-paid service first, because if they suck, I am screwed for the next 24 months. I know they are reliable, I know it will work with Lion, because after all night researching, talking to people and reading bloggers' comments, it gave me enough comfort to go to a new telco.

Fudge! Why do we always have problem with telcos? Why are we wasting so much time because of their incompetence? Why do we have to spend so much time looking for solutions ourselves when it should be their job to help me and to provide seamless services and support?

Jarpad was interviewed by EW recently and he talked about season seven -- Sam's wall, Cas' absolute power; Jensen wants to grow his hair and Friday night's competition with Fringe.

Jensen was interviewed by TVGuide. Apart from talking about Sam's wall, Cas and season seven in general, he also talked about directing another episode, Crowley, Death, Jewel Staite and the return of Jo.

"It was unbelievable we made season five, then six, now we're doing seven and they're already looking into the future of eight, so I'm just like, "What?" It's not gonna be, "Sam, get me the salt and the gun." It's gonna be, "Sam, throw me my walker!"" -- Jensen

I have always liked Jo. I remember when I first got into Supernatural, I watched season two on TV, while waiting for season one DVD to release. I started with Nightshifter, that was my first Supernatural episode, but I have been watching bits and pieces on YouTube.. I just loved when the Dean and Jo chemistry. And I love when Dean sang Can't Fight This Feeling. You know fanvids on YouTube can be deceiving, at first I thought Dean and Jo were an item. It obviously didn't happen, but it's nice to see these two together. And I guess to me, I know a lot of fans didn't think Jo was mature enough for Dean and she was like a sister to her But I still think Jo could be the one for Dean. There was a potential to see her grow up as a woman and a hunter. Please have a great reunion!

Jensen Ackles - The Director

How much do you know this guy? I have been in love with this guys since the first time I watched the show back to its season two. There is more to than meets the eye.

I feel like I've been watching him growing as an actor. When I caught up with his earlier works such as Dark Angel and Smallville, I thought he was good, but Supernatural is his best to date. And there is more to come! I see great things from Jensen Ackles because he sure has the the talent, the heart and most important his soul is pure when it comes to what he really wants from his career.

Jensen Ackles is not a celebrity. He is an actor and a director -- a damn good one. Watch out Clooney!

Supernatural Spoiler Pics; New God & Old Death

Just saw a few photos from the season premier of Supernatural. I am really REALLY intrigued. Like.. REALLY intrigued.

Ah! I love that finally I have the opportunity to put my theories together..

If you have read spoilers about this season, you'd know in dealing with Cas' role as the new God, Dean called Death for 'help'. But Death is pissed off at Dean.. I wonder why. I'd go further from what I blogged about Death early this year. The whole natural progression thing is more important to Death. Having created humans -- who are able to live their lives, have offsprings and at the end of their lives they die -- God's job is done a LONG time ago, he has set the scene and the playground and he is 'retired'.

With Death, he doesn't create lives, he reaps them when their time's up. God doesn't interfere with what goes on in people's lives between their birth and death. Death is happy.. yeah?

Now, with Cas-God going all 'I'm going to set things right', perhaps Death knows Cas-God would interfere and cause disruptions to the natural order, which is not beneficial to Death. Death was all cryptic about the souls when last spoke with Dean in Appointment in Samarra, he said, "... you have use. Right now you're digging at something, intrepid detective. I want you to keep digging, Dean." But Dean didn't really know what he meant, he didn't even think about it. I don't recall anything on Dean digging about this after that episode. Perhaps Death is pissed off about Dean's lack of action? Time will tell...

Death: "For pie sake, you're a new God, go get yourself a new tailor!"

Death: "I love me some cheap food."

Supernatural Season 7 - The Brothers, The Symmetry & The Crowley

The CW has released an updated description of the season seven premier of Supernatural... Ouch!

Dean: "We are so screwed".. Sam: "Understatement!"

Wow... I reiterate, seasons seven will be intense from the get-go. So many storylines are left wide-open. The brotherly love is back. Despite the whole '...a secret that threatens to tear them apart' thing, I don't think this is all true. I mean, seriously, NOTHING will make Dean and Sam stop caring for each other. Especially with Dean, I was revisiting some of the earlier episodes, this guy doesn't give up on his brother, he may have a thing or two to say about John or when Sam got friendly with the demon in season four, Dean never stop loving his brother. Dean will continue to deal with his brother's pain and everything else. Dean's responsibility doesn't stop with Sam, he also has the new God Cas to deal with while keeping the world safe from evil. Sam's current state of mind is one of the key themes to watch. Unlike Dean, Sam wasn't the torturer, he was the object in Michael & Lucifer's play day. What I would really love to see is Sam remembering the stuff that Michael and Lucifer talked about in their cage. Surely the angels will not settle for hell and surely getting out of hell does cross their mind. Right?

The show will once again bring the symmetry back -- life and death. I need my God/ Death fix and I cannot wait how this will play out. Castiel's new role as the new God is going to be an on-going theme in season seven, it's interesting to note Cas is yet to realise the magnitude of his new form, we will definitely continue to see his journey in that regard. Death will continue to play a key role in season seven. Don't forget the conversation between Dean and Death in Appointment in Samarra, Death told Dean to keep digging about souls. We haven't seen that bit wrapped up, and I hope to see this developing further. Also when Death claimed he is capable of reaping God in season five, I think this idea will surface again and I cannot wait to see how this turns out. I think anytime you have a not-so-regular character appear in the season premier, that HAS to be the shape of things to come.

Last but not least, I still think there are things the writers aren't tell us about Crowley, Mark Sheppard highlighted an important point, we have never seen Crowley's eyes turn black or red or yellow like other demons. Now that he 'lost' to Cas in the battle of the souls from Purgatory, what will be his next move? Crowley is like a smart business man, he doesn't give up and he will continue to make business proposition and find the right business partner, so to speak, to get what he wants. What I like about Crowley is that he is not stupid and he isn't like other demons, he is a business man, he knows how to play games. That's what makes him interesting.

Here is the updated synopsis:

"Now, despite Sam and Dean's efforts to stop him, Castiel has succeeded in his plan. His power is God-like, and Sam and Dean have no idea how to stop him. But even Castiel doesn't truly understand the magnitude of what's inside him -- or how dangerous he really is.

A Very Random Thursday Edition -- We Need a Monkey on Supernatural called....Clyde

I find myself freaking out earlier than expected. I know casting news aren't exactly spoilery, but I feel like I should go into a lockdown now!

We need a monkey on the show called....Clyde.

So, you may have already heard. Pirate of the Caribean's Master Gibbs, Kevin McNally, is the new computer genius on Supernatural. Although, when it comes to the computer on the show, I always see Ash and his mullet! Nevertheless, I am very excited about McNally's appearance. He will first appear in the episode Slash Fiction and he is an old friend of Bobby. I expect plenty of Pirate of the Caribean reference! More details here Zap2It

Master Gibbs has a Lego too!

Not only Bobby has a friend, Crowley also has a friend. James Patrick Stuart is set to play a demon named Richard Roman. According to Sera, Richard is "a very canny, charming, well-connected new adversary." Basicially a demon version of Balthazar right? More details here Zap2It

Dean's friend is back too.... Not a lady friend... but DEATH. Finally! His re-appearance is long overdue! Don't enable me, Death is up there with Samuel Colt in my book -- illusive, cool and awesome!! Julian Richings is also appearing at the up-coming Supernatural convention in Toronto in October. This will be his first appearance at a fan convention. I am intrigued about what fans will ask him and how he'll like his convention experience. It'll be funny if he goes to the kareoke!

CASTIEL TAKES ON HIS NEW ROLE AS GOD -- Castiel (Misha Collins) doesn't kill Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) but warns them not to interfere in his business. Review: Supernatural Tie-In Novel 'Heart of the Dragon'

I have never been a big fan of tie-in products. What a positive way to start a blog post by bringing everyone down with my personal view on the subject, right?! But having said, I do read tie-in novels, especially the Supernatural ones. Reading them and looking at the attractive covers help me to survive the painful hellatus.

Tie-in novels (not to be confused with fanfics) are written by professional novelists and they are usually based on an established TV series or movie. The point of tie-in novels is to give fans a fix. Buffy and Firefly Serenity have a very successful run in the tie-in products including novels and comics. Others such as Star Wars, SG1, SGA, The X-Files and Star Trek have loads of novels. Tie-in novels focus on stories we don't see on screen -- stories usually take place in between seasons and episodes or after a show/ movie is ended; story ideas are (supposed to be) in the spirit of the original TV series; and because it's a novel, you don't have to worry about booking in actors (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I am looking at you!).

Tie-in novels are usually published after a season is ended, because obviously a tie-in novel can't give away any plot lines or spoilers while the current season is on air. For example, Supernatural: Heart of the Dragon was published in 2010, the story took place after season five's Changing Channels. I can only imagine how hard it is to write a tie-in novel. On one hand, writers have the freedom to create something with their own imagination, but on the other hand, they are limited. Although the actual TV episodes never reference the plots or any kind of details as mentioned in the tie-in novels, but the writers still can't reinvent the wheel or jeopardise the mytho of the show in any way.

To be honest, some of the Supernatural tie-in novels are good, but some are not. The one that I really enjoyed was War of the Sons. I think this is very very close to the actual mytho of the series. I actually want to see the story on the TV series. The story worked and it actually looked like the missing chapter. I think that's how a tie-in novel should be and this is what I expect from others -- a page-turning tie-in novel.

But we don't always get what we want.

The biggest problem is that sometimes details are not aligned with the original show. For example, Dean's eyes are green, not blue. Dean will NEVER let anyone to drive his car, except Sam. Under NO circumstance, Dean would let anyone to drive his car. In Coyote's Kiss, Sam was available to drive, but Dean let the lady friend to drive his car. It's so illegal! Dean in this story became a bit needy for women was a bit out of character. As if Dean would ask 'Can you stay?'! The overall continuity is there, but deep down you know that's not exactly the Dean and Sam you love on the TV screen. It's a strange feeling -- I know I am getting my Supernatural fix, but I know there is a disconnection there somewhere.

Heart of the Dragon

Heart of the Dragon was written by Keith DeCandido, who also wrote many Supernatural tie-in novels. It's an ok read, not as great as War of the Sons. Long time visitors know that I love the family element of the show -- I love watching John, Mary with Dean and Sam. To see them appear in one place (in this case, in one book) is a real treat. Although Grandpa Samuel was a bit 'mistreated' in season six of Supernatural, which was unfortunate, but the family theme and his character treatment in Heart of the Dragon are acceptable.

The story took place in 3 different timelines. We met the Campbells in 1969; the Winchesters in 1989; and Dean and Sam in 2009. It involved a story about the spirit of an ancient Samurai, the Heart of the Dragon, a weapon created a demon which would give team Lucifer the advantage in the apocalypse. I don't really care about the myth of this story, because my expectation wasn't high and because at time it was confusing. Thank you for thinking outside the square but mixing the Judeo-Christian-Samurai-ghost is a bit too fusion for me on this occasion.

What this novel did right was the treatment of the Campbells. This is how they should be written. I think Grandpa especially should have been written with a bit more dignity. We love him the first time we met him in In the Beginning, and I just think we should have a good memory of him as a good tough guy, rather than a douche who was afraid to stand up.

We have never seen Deanna as BA. In the Heart of the Dragon, we had a glimpse of her in action. Deanna was someone we don't know too much about. Would Samuel act differently if Deanna was also resurrected? Was she the one keeping him 'human' and sane all these years? The husband and wife team (as a hunter couple or not) never really worked on the show -- one always survived without another. Something bad always happened to the other half, like John and Mary; Bobby and Karen; season three's Isaac and Tamara; Dean and Lisa; Sam and Jess (and Madison); Ellen and William Harvelle. But in Heart of the Dragon, DeCandido managed to give us the glimpse of Samuel and Deanna as the hunter couple along with their only child, Mary, who was 15 year old in this novel. It was certainly a rare opportunity to see them in action as a family.

Heart of the Dragon reiterates Mary's desire to be a normal person, free from hunting. We now know Mary and John already knew each other when Mary was 15. The teenage-y John was not heavily featured in the Campbells timeline in this story, but he was there and Samuel didn't like him even back then because he was too normal. But I like that John kid!

We then saw John Winchester 20 years later with young Dean and Sam, and Uncle Bobby (assuming he had more hair). That part of the story reminded me so much of Something Wicked. In fact, the 'feel' of the story about young Dean, Sam with John as the hunter father is pretty consistence across all Supernatural tie-in products including the comics Origins and Rising Son. I just hope that John Winchester is not being confined within the Supernatural tie-in products forever. I certainly hope to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Matt Cohen as John Winchester on the show again!

In Heart of the Dragon, we don't get to see too much of Dean and Sam, which took awhile to get used to, but nevertheless, it was a good read because of the family them, no matter how dysfunctional the family was. The Campbells was treated well in the writing department and it was a treat to read John, Dean and Sam together as a family. It was certainly an excuse to put the Campbells and the Winchesters together in one novel without getting all the guest stars back on set. The story mythology could have been better but the family element saved it.

PS 'Tiny' was a bit of douche in this book, which was funny.

What's cooking at Kripke's Hollow?

Hello everybody, I have been busy..

Eric Kripke may be stepping down as the showrunner of Supernatural, but he is not going into retirement! He has been busy with new projects. Although Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, is on hold for whatever reasons but Kripke is already moving on to the next project. The CW is developing a new TV series based on DC Comic's Deadman. This looks more promising than The Sandman which has always a bit of a yeah-but-no-but-yeah-but. I think if the CW/ WB/ DC want to do it, they will make it happen. Kripke is certainly the right guy for it. Matt Cohen for the lead? Fans think so!

I think Superman, Spiderman and Batman have been done to death! There are heaps of other superheroes or comic book characters that studios and networks can dive into. Say, if Watchmen or The Avengers is made into a TV series, I think they will be extremely successful.

So who is Deadman? Deadman is a ghost, formerly circus trapeze artist named Boston Brand who performed under the name Deadman, a stage persona including a red costume and white corpse makeup. Boston Brand was murdered, his sprite was given special power by a Hindu goddess to posses any living being in order to find his murderer and obtain justice. Sounds a bit like The Cape?

Deadman crossed over with other DC stories such as Superman, Batman, Jason Todd, Green Arrow and Justice League.

This certainly sounds very very interesting. I would really love to see this taking off. The CW new boss expressed his interest to develop a new DC show for the network. Let's see what the Kripke-master can do with this baby! I still hope The Sandman is a go with Kripke attached to it. A movie perhaps? I know I am greedy, but I just can't wait to see Kripke's next project.

Kripke is also working on the movie Haunted, which is a WB project.

In Cas we fear.... In Sera we trust... Bring it!

Suck it up and deal with it haters. I have always been a supporter of Sera Gamble and this will not change. I know a lot of people have been very concerned about what Supernatural has or will become for a variety of reasons since Eric Kripke stepped down as the showrunner. We all have different reasons for watching the show, but the mythology of the show has always been about the Winchester family -- the brothers. I don't think this has changed at all. Whether we go back to the monster of the week or touch the angel storyarc.. it's still about the brothers. I really cannot wait to watch season seven. I have enough of this painful hellatus!

There... I got that bit out of the way... On to the latest promo clip of Supernatural...

It's interesting to see the CW has been pushing the Kiss-Your-Cas-Goodbye angle as the focal point of the promotional clips. Whether it's the marketing people don't communicate with the show's crew to convey the correct idea and went off to do their own promo (which I doubt) OR they do communicate and this is shaping up to be a season about In-Cas-We-Fear, which is expected, we just don't know how. And this In-Cas-We-Fear element is going to be an integral, recurring theme in seasons seven. Remember, Supernatural never throw something out there for nothing. So, for those who fear Misha's role in season seven, never fear. Kiss-Your-Cas-Goodbye and In-Cas-We-Fear will be addressed.

Like I said, it's a show about the brothers and their adventures. Saving people, hunting things, the family business is still the most famous quote from Supernatural. I think season seven will also about saving friends from their own darkness.

It's safe to say Buffy and Supernatural have a similar fanbase. We are all very passionate about the shows. Having Buffy's Charisma Carpenter (aka Cordelia) & James Marsters (aka Spike) to guest star on Supernatural is a real treat for fans. Twitter just exploded today with the announcement!

Charisma and James will play wife and husband in the fifth episode of season seven titled Shut Up Dr Phil. Sera Gamble revealed that, “This episode is ‘Bewitched' gone wrong... [A long overdue review] Supernatural tie in novel - 'War of the sons'

Note from Grumpy Bum (aka me): This review is way long overdue... like 8 months overdue. Yeah I suck. I wrote this episode back in November 2010, so you will see a reference to season five as at November 2010.

Tie-in novels never really give me the satisfaction due to some weird reasons. But Supernatural War of the Sons captured my attention from the get-go and I finished the book pretty quickly. I couldn't put it down. If you haven't read it, you may want to skip this review.

War of the Sons was written by Rebecca Dessertine and David Reed. The story took place just after season five's My Bloody Valentine, it focused on the boys' quest of finding the missing chapter of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

On the hunt for Lucifer, Sam and Dean found themselves in a small town in South Dakota where they meet Don, an angel with quite a background! Don told the boys his job was to guard the gates of Hell. But when Lucifer was set free after the last seal was broken, Don was left jobless. Knowing the plan was always going to put the Devil back to his cage and not wanting to go back to his old job guarding Hell's gates, Don sent Sam and Dean back to 1954 to find the missing chapter of the scroll: "The War of the Sons of Light Against the Sons of the Darkness".

This missing chapter contained a list of names of angels corresponding with their human vessels, including the Novaks (i.e. Jimmy) for Castiel, Dean and Sam for Michael and Lucifer. It turns out, Don wanted the boys to obtain the list and to kill the human vessels so that there was no battle to win or lose. Without human vessels for Michael and Lucifer, there would be no show down.

Dean and Sam met two hunters Walter and Julie, a father and his daughter, who befriended and betrayed the brothers. When Walter and Julie found out about the list, they gathered other hunters to start killing the vessels. They thought if the killing of vessels would save the planet, the end justified the means. But Dean and Sam would never kill humans even if it was for a greater good. The daughter Julie, who was supposed to be a love interest for Dean, found out about the future from Dean and eventually had a change of heart, she destroyed the list to stop the killing.

In my view, the key contributing factors of the success of War of the Sons are the pace of the story and the consistency between the actual series and novel. I am a stickler for consistency across different Supernatural tie-in products (i.e. novels, animations, The John Winchester Journal). I truly love the angel story line and that was one of the key things I was looking for when I read War of the Sons. The angel storyline was very well-told in this novel. I have always been a fan of the angel storyarc, I thought with a little refinement by Gamble, Edlund or Kripke himself, it would make a perfect movie-length episode in season five.

War of the Sons isn't the best novel on the bookshelves, but it's like Supernatural got its own version of The Da Vinci code with our Dean and Sam playing Robert Langdon.It was really fun to read about Dean going undercover at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Sam going to the American Bible Society to do research. There were plenty of references to the show itself and the pop culture.

War of the Sons is probably the best Supernatural tie-in novels to date. I could read it again and that's a good sign. Because I really enjoyed it.

Captain America -- A review from a new fan

Long time visitors of the Impala's Trunk know that I am not a comic book fan. I don't read them, I don't know how to read them. Everything I know about a comic story or a hero is through movies and TV shows.

I was really looking forward to Captain America. I didn't know too much about the story and the characters, so I actually borrowed my friend's The Avengers the animation movie and see what's the fuss is about. I got the feel about what The Avengers is like as a team and it helps me to see how everyone fits into the story.

Captain America has always been about the journey of Steve Rogers, a physically weak young man with a pure good heart, who wanted to save lives and serve his country. Steve Rogers volunteered for a research project and was chosen as the first human test subject for the super-soldier serum developed by the scientist Dr Abraham Erskine. The serum worked. But Captain America was like a poster boy for the army, an icon for hope. Some soldiers didn't see him as a real solider, but when it was his time to shine, he shined. Captain America was lost to the world after WWII when he hurled into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic. His body was recovered from the ice 70 years later (aka present time). Now he is a member of The Avengers with Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Haweye, Hulk and Nick Fury.

The movie, Captain America did not disappoint. If you don't know the story of Steve Rogers and The Avengers, it's ok but you will miss details you don't even know they are awesome. Having watched the animation to get myself up to speed for the backstory, the first time viewing of the movie was still a bit too much. But I really really enjoyed it. The thing about this movie is that it had such great material (the story and the characters), it was packed with information and they tried to tell you everything about Steve Rogers. The downside is some scenes happened too quickly (and therefore perhaps forgettable), I had to watch it again. The movie made more sense the second time I watched it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that the pace of the story could be better and the story could be a bit more tighten. Like some scenes deserve a better explanation, if you know what I mean? Two scenes came to mind and I thought they were supposed to be significant -- the choosing of the shield and the ending.

I assume the shield of Captain America is very significant yes? So in that scene, when Howard Stark was introducing different types of shields for Steve Rogers to choose from, it was too convenient for Steve Rogers to catch the shield that was dumped on the floor and went "oh look what's that... humm.. that's the shield I am destined to wield."

The other scene that could've been explained better is the ending. Not everyone knew Captain America survived the fall and the ice, I feel that the writers kinda assumed everyone knew that or perhaps it was their intention. I don't know for sure. For the ending, I would've connected it back to the first scene of the movie, revealed the frozen shield and Captain America and leave it there. Nick Fury (aka Samuel L Jackson) could be in the teaser and the trailer after credit. It was almost too spoilery to see Steve Rogers waking up in bed, ran out to Broadway and stopped by Nick Fury where he told Rogers he had been asleep for 70 years.

Captain America was not as perfect of Thor. I was totally satisfied after Thor, there was not a single thing I would change. But with Captain America, I actually expected much more, because it was the first avenger, and there were a few scenes I could see changing. But again, I really enjoyed it. I would seriously watch it again.

Characters

I am impressed with the cast. I thought each character were well written. Chris Evans exceeded my expectation, he did a really really good job. Although I am sure Jensen Ackles would've been so much more awesome! Anyway.. I thought Chris Evans was really good at playing a pure heart innocent 'won't even kill a fly' soldier. I thought his intention was good, he never gives up even when he was tinier than me. In fact, that was one of my favorite parts of the movie, seeing Steve Rogers got bullied but he never ever gave up. There is almost nothing special about Steve Rogers, he was just a young man with a good heart. He was selfless. Steve Rogers was nothing like Tony Stark who was show-y and he was nothing like Thor who was a bad-tempted god. The team of Avengers has different personalities and egos, I guess that's why it will be so important for Steve Rogers to lead.

Other characters I like:

Surprise #1: Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell). I thought her character was very well written. I really like the chemistry between her and Captain America. She was a strong female character and she looked really classy. One thing I am very impressed with female characters in comic books are their strong presence. They kick ass and they don't need a hero to rescue them, in fact, it's often the other way around. Although Peggy wasn't a superhero but her character was strong and at times, she reminded me of Smallville's Lois Lane.

Surprise #2: Dr. Abraham Erskine (played by Stanley Tucci). Stanley Tucci was fantastic at fixing people! LOL.... From The Devil Wears Prada to Captain America. He was perfect for the role. I love his mentoring role and I love the compassion he brought to the role.

Surprise #3: Col. Chester Phillips (played by Tommy Lee Jones). Who doesn't love this guy? I mean, it's probably the first and only time I declare my love for Tommy Lee Jones. I love him in this movie! Col Phillips was awesome! He was almost too cute to be a Colonial!

Surprise #4: Howard Stark (played by Dominic Cooper). I didn't expect Howard Stark (Tony Stark's father) to be heavily featured in this film. I mean, Howard Stark was quite a prominent figure in Captain America. He was a contributing engineer for the super-soldier serum project, he went to the war with them, he invented the shield and uniform for Captain America, he flew the jet to the enemy line, he was helpful, he went looking for the body of Captain America after the war... The guy was everywhere!

Easter Eggs

- Cosmic cube -- That's the glowing blue thing in Thor, right?

- Bucky -- Is he dead? He didn't die in the animation.

- Howard Stark & The Stark Expo -- I love the Stark Expo reference and Howard Stark was involved since WWII.

- This is probably nothing.. but Redskull asked Captain America: "Tell me, why are you so special?" If Jensen Ackles played Captain America, I swear he could've replied, "Because of my perky nipples."

The Avengers

So, I stuck around and watch the stuff after the trailer, it was worth it. If you haven't watched the leaked Avengers trailer, you must watch until the curtain draws.

To wrap up, I really really like Captain America, I can't wait for the DVD... And I can't wait to watch The Avengers. It is an ambitious movie and it is Joss Whedon's first major motion picture. I am just dying to see more Joss's stuff!!
