Scrubs Supernatural Scrubs

I really can't wait to see Changing Channel!! It's going to be super funny!

5.08 Changing Channel

Synopsis: The Trickster (guest star Richard Speight Jr.) throws Sam and Dean into an alternate universe where they are characters in different television series, including a sexy medical show, a Japanese game show, a forensics show and a sitcom. The brothers realize the only way to get out of this world is to play along and become the characters in the shows. However, Castiel (Misha Collins) appears and warns them this universe is dangerous and they must get out before they become trapped. Teleplay by Jeremy Carver, directed by Charles Beeson
. Episode airs on November 5.

I was watching Scrubs the musical last night.. and I did a fanvid last year which was a Scrubs and Supernatural crossover.

Supernatural Convention - the episode not the convention

And .. so ok.. it'd be funny if these 'extras' are actually fans! I am actually hoping to see some REAL conventions footage.. it'd be funny to see that girl attacking Jensen in some convention awhile ago!

5.09 The Real Ghostbusters

Synopsis: Super fan Becky (guest star Emily Perkins) uses Chuck’s (guest star Chuck Benedict) phone to trick Sam and Dean into attending a Supernatural fan convention, complete with fans dressed up as Sam and Dean. Written by Nancy Weiner
and directed by Jim Conway. Episode airs November 12.

Who is the underdog on TV? ☺

Supernatural has been getting some really great press since for for past 2 years. Amber Topping from The Examiner named Supernatural as one of the top underdog shows on TV.

1. The Little Engine that Could: Supernatural

Simply put, this show just rocks. It only averages between 2 and 3 million viewers each week, but it always manages to squeeze by. Now in its fifth season, this is the ultimate underdog show which has found a way to survive and keep going, despite the odds of changing networks, lack of press and mediocre numbers. If you can say one thing about this series, the fans are rabid, loyal and willing to put up a fight, and it has paid off. Supernatural is about the Winchester brothers, Sam and Dean who are hunters (they "hunt" supernatural creatures) though at times they often wonder if they're the real monsters themselves. The show can go from frighteningly scary one minute and uproariously funny the next. Supernatural might just be the best show on television, and chances are you've never seen an episode. Supernatural is on the CW on Thursday nights at 9/8 c (yes, the same time as Fringe; Why do networks pair up similar shows against each other? They just split the audience).

Guess who is coming to the Convention? News so good I need a Winchester hug

Jensen Ackles is coming to dinner! Hehe... Creation Entertainment has announced Jensen Ackles as a guest for the Salute to Supernatural in L.A. (March 26-28, 2010) and Vancouver (August 27-29, 2010). Jared and Misha have already been confirmed. More details on the Cons and guests can be found at Creative Entertainment.

I don't think I'll be able to attend the Salute Supernatural Cons in L.A and Vancouver, however I am trying really hard to schedule my mid-year holiday for Comic-Con. It happens to be a family thing around that time, so boo! My mind is so there!

Those DVR rating things

I still don't get it...

SUPERNATURAL gained 36% in women 18-34 (1.55rtg v. 1.14rtg), 35% in adults 18-34 (1.61rtg v. 1.19rtg) and 42% in women 18-49 (1.35rtg v. 0.95rtg).

SMALLVILLE saw huge DVR increases, as its Live+7 ratings soared above its live-only viewing by 82% in adults 18-34 (1.44rtg v. 0.79rtg) and 84% in adults 18-49 (1.34rtg v. 0.73rtg).

Calling for Happy Supernatural Memories 2009

2009 is coming to an end in a bit over 2 months time. I've been thinking about doing something special for this blog. So here is the plan, I'll be working on a special blog post, I have a few working titles .. '2009 in review: Supernatural' or 'Happy memories in 2009: Supernatural' or 'Castiel finally knows how to use a cell phone in 2009 and here is a list of thing he could be chatting with his friends about if he has friends: Supernatural'

I will be writing a collection of stuff for this special edition of blog post, and your input/ contribution is welcome. Here is how.

If you are on Twitter, just DM me or send me a tweet. If you are not on Twitter, you can simply post a comment here. You will be acknowledged of course. If you are on Twitter, when I mention your happy memory, I'll link your Twitter name to your Twitter page. If you're not on Twitter, I'll just mention your name with your
happy memory.

So what is the happiest Supernatural memory you have in 2009? What is the one thing that will make you say 'man! that was epic!' this time next year? Things might include but not limited to:

Fan's experience - happy memory on meeting up with a cast member at Conventions or on the street

The ONE favorite episode of the year

The ONE Dean's one-liner of the year

The ONE Sam's puppy look of the year

Best Castiel reaction

The best Winchester hug of the year

Best Twitter experience - I know I have one! You know what I am talking about!

The sky is the limit. But don't send me a page long stuff or answers to every point above, I just need ONE happy memory from you =)

Deadline is Sunday 20th December 2009. Looking forward to hearing from you!

After-thoughts: Episode 5.06 I believe the children are our future

I believe the children are our are future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.

Sorry, got a bit carried away. Don't shoot me, you know I can't help it. Every time I see the episode title '
I believe the children are our are future', I just can't help it!

When I first saw the episode title, without knowing much about the details, I thought it was going to be a light filler episode. But it is quite the contrary, this episode is dark. Anytime you involve kids and demons in a dark environment, it's extra creepy.

I thought this episode was pretty well done. Notice all the child actors on Supernatural have are extremely talented young actors. They can really nail the role. I am so impressed with their performance. I think
Gattlin Griffith stole some scenes from Jensen and Jared. I really enjoy his storyline and his performance.

Meet
Jeese (guest star Gattlin Griffith) the Anti-Christ Superstar, he is half human and half demon (so Constantine!). He is Lucifer's most powerful weapon. But he doesn't know it yet, because he is so powerful, no angels and demons can find him. There is a force field around him. Whatever he believes is coming true. He believes tooth fairy looks like John Belushi, pop rocks and coke causes massive ulcers and itching powder causes a girl scratching her brain out. That's what he can do now as a 11 year old, but his power will grow strong as he grows up. Castiel said Jeese will destroy the angels and Lucifer will make sure of it.

My favorite part is when Jesse's mother described her experience with the demon and the birth. The way Dean and Sam looked at her when she was telling the story, was exactly my reaction. That was scary! It's like watching End of Days or something... This kinda of things give me the creep.

I usually don't like the evil demon stuff, I never really enjoy End of Days or The Exorcist, I found the storyline disturbing and good people always die. I always have to watch The Smurfs after I watched films like that. But the thing about this kind of storyline in Supernatural is that they are really well written. It is not written in for the scare factors, it's a character study. Let's compare Jesse to the psychic kids. The
psychic kids like Ava or Lily or Jake. In AHBL, we see some of them turned evil, just like that, out of the blue because Azazel told them stuff. So they are like.. ok.. I'll do it, I want to be powerful, I want the world. But with Jesse, he wants to listen to what Sam and Dean has to say about his origin, the war between angels & demons and his purpose. Sam wants to believe someone out there can make the right decision. Jeese made a decision. He went to Australia... possibly Surfers Paradise!

I think it's simple for Jeese for now. He is a kid, he doesn't want to be part of this, he doesn't want his parents to get hurt, so he went into hiding. This might not be the last time we see Jesse. I would like to see him again.

One last comment: I notice some people think Supernatural is making the Anti-Christ Superstar too cute and likeable, as if they think the
Anti-Christ Superstar should never be likeable. But here is the thing, in Supernatural, there is always a reason behind why someone or something turn from good to bad. There is no such thing as born evil. Like Darth Vader, we know he is evil, but why? What happened to Anakin Skywalker? He was a good man but what made him to turn to the dark side? Or like Lex Luthor, we always know he is dark and twisted but why and what were the contributing factors?

It's refreshing to see how writers are developing storyline on Supernatural.

Who you gonna call? Stay Puft Marshmallow Man or Eric Kripke

Synopsis of two of the up-coming episodes have been released (or updated):

One of the activities is a live action role playing game, but things quickly turn sour after a real ghost appears on the scene. Teleplay by Eric Kripke and story by Nancy Weiner. Welcome back Ellen and Jo! I hope they are not going to die! But we know two of our favorites will die in this episode. I have high expectation on this episode. Sounds like it's gonna be really epic!

Michael Shanks as Hawkman on Smallville

This week's big news for fans of Smallville and Stargate SG1 is that Dr Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) will play the DC Comics hero Hawkman on an up-coming episode of Smallville called Society. It is expected to air in January 2010 on The CW. This episode sounds epic! Source: GateWorld

Did you catch last week's Smallville? I love it when Clark discovered a new ability, although it didn't last but it was funny!

New segment: This week on Twitter

Here is a new segment called This Week on Twitter. As you know, a number of Supernatural stars are active on Twitter. Before you go crazy, please note, Jensen and Jared are NOT on Twitter or Facebook or Myspace or any social networking sites. Here are a list of Supernatural cast members who are on Twitter.

So anyway, they are great people to follow. Their tweets are witty, nice and down to earth. So every week, I am going to pick one (or two) of their tweets and share with you here.

Jim Beaver
Recent Tweet: 'Heading to work on Supernatural episode 10. Gonna party like it's the last time.'

(WTF?! Is Bobby going to die???)

Recent Tweet: 'You guys sure worry a lot. I'm not saying there's nothing to worry about. But you sure do it well!'

Misha Collins
Recent Tweet: "I screwed up. Obama asked me for help persuading the Olympic committee to pick Chicago, but I accidentally called Nobel headquarters."

Mark Sheppard
Recent Tweet: 'Jared and Jensen are two of the nicest guys you could meet...'

Amy Gumenick (aka Young Mary Campbell-Winchester)
Recent Tweet: 'Grey's Anatomy, Supernatural and Bones, oh my!! what a great night :)'

Hehe.. a big shout out to Supernatural. I wish she didn't mentioned Grey's! I wonder which shows Amy watched live and DVR? Humm..

Upcoming episodes; news digest

Hello! I've been missing in action due to work. I've been working on the weekend and I've only managed to have some 'me time'.

Supernatural is on a mini hiatus. All new episodes will return on 29th October. Here is a summary of what's coming up.

29th October: The Curious Case of Dean Winchester
Written by Sera Gamble
& Jenny Klein
Directed by Robert Singers

Synopsis:
Dean and Sam discover a witch (guest star Hal Ozsan) is running a high-stakes poker game where the currency is life years vs. money. Bobby (Jim Beaver) sees the game as a chance to get out of the wheelchair and bets 25 years, but loses. As Bobby begins to age rapidly, Dean steps in to save him but also ends up turning into an old man, leaving Sam holding the bag for their survival.

5th November: Changing Channels
Written by Jeremy Carver
Directed by Charles Beeson

Synopsis: When Sam and Dean find themselves living their lives on what appear to be TV shows, it makes for a whole new style of reality television and they wonder if the Trickster (guest star Richard Speight, Jr.) is to blame. From a sitcom to a soapy hospital drama to a Japanese game show to a crime procedural, each new experience they encounter is more bizarre than the next and they want out. But is the Trickster really the mastermind behind the madness?

(Expect to see Dean and Sam in Japanese TV game show and a mash up of other popular TV shows. This would have been an awesome episode to have a Smallville/ Supernatural crossover if you are one of those fans who dream of this to happen!)

12th November: The Real Ghostbusters

Will we see the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man?

19th November: Abandon All Hope
Written by Ben Edlund
Directed by Phil Sgriccia

There is going to be a Castiel and Lucifer showdown. Not sure if this will take place in this episode. But we will see Mark Sheppard to make an appearance as a demon. Also expect to see the return of the Colt or at least the mention of it. This is the mid-season finale, so this is going to be epic!

Misha Collins mentioned about the
Castiel and Lucifer showdown in this interview recently. Check it out on TV Guide here.

Date to be advised: Sam, Interrupted

No official synopsis. This episode is currently being filmed.

Also, in the up-coming episodes, 2 of our favorite characters will die and Anna is going to make a come back.

Dr Dean and Dr Sam

Michael Ausiello posted a set photo of an up-coming episode Channel Channels. The Trickster returns. The brothers finds themselves trapped in some familiar TV shows like CSI, Grey's, a Japanese game show and sitcom. Do you agree? Dean and Sam look 100% hotter than Patrick Dempsey.

EAT IT GREY'S!

DVR ratings

I don't get TV ratings! I mean, they don't mean anything to me. I don't watch a show because it is advertised as the highest rating TV show ever.. WHATEVER!

BuddyTV has a good article about the rating of Supernatural. It basically talks about how DVR ratings are saving my favorite shows like Supernatural and Smallville.

"The traditional Nielsen ratings might say that shows like NCIS and Grey's Anatomy are on top, but when it comes to younger audiences and non-traditional ways of watching TV, the CW is way out in front..." Full article at BuddyTV.

So only older people still watch TV when it's on, younger audience will DRV or iTune it whenever they want.

Weekly love for Smallville, SGU and Glee

Apart from Supernatural, Smallville, SGU and Glee are the other shows that I love right now. Supernatural still sits high above Castiel's garrison.

The light stuff first...

Glee: Preggers was amazing. Kurt is so funny! I absolutely love the Football team dance! There isn't a dull moment in Glee so far and I love it. High School Musical move over!

Smallville: Rabid was full of zombie action and Clois. Despite what some fans said about Smallville, I really really like the Lois and Clark thing. I think it was beautifully done this week. I can't wait to see more Clois. Again, Erica Durance nailed the emotional scenes when she talked to Clark about the Blur and her feelings about being lonely. Not many actresses can do funny, smart, sexy and the emotional stuff all in one episode. I think she did that. Season 9 has been consistently good and satisfying.

In terms of rating and the new TV schedule of Smallville, I think it's a BIG mistake to separate Supernatural and Smallville from the Thursday night duo thing.
I know technology changes the way fans watch a TV show now and a lot of fans don't watch it live anyway. But still, look at the ratings! The ratings for both shows fell below 3.0 mil this week. Stats might be good if you just look at the demo and DVR stats (and may be iTune download). But these shows deserve more than this, and I blamed the CW for making this move. It's wrong! And they know it! It's still a friggin stupid decision to separate the 'Super' duo. These shows are on the wrong TV network!

SGU: Air Part 3 was a great episode. The characters seem to be a bit cold, I don't see the usual SG team dynamic yet. So far it's like nobody trusts anyone, Dr Rush seems to have his own agenda and he is a bit of a loner. Colonial Telford is part of the team, but he isn't physically there.
Colonial Young is the team leader, but we haven't seen much leadership from him so far. And then you have Lieutenant Scott who reminded me of Lieutenant Rainbow (I mean Lieutenant Ford from SGA) but smarter and has more leadership potential.

Don't get me wrong, the above points are a good thing. We won't see the usual formula, we won't see the team of four that made up of a Colonial, a
Lieutenant, a scientist and an Alien. SGU has more misfit characters and they will face more challenges than any other SG teams. Like O'Neill said, nobody is qualified to save the galaxy but they have to do it.

Overall, the pace of the episode is a bit slow. However, I am so impressed with the use of Ancient Communication Stone in the story. This device is going to give the series plenty of flexibilities. Not only we will see stuff happening on the ship, new worlds and new technology in the new galaxy but the
Ancient Communication Stone will cross over back to earth where other characters such as Telford and O'Neill are. Hopefully we will see more crossover later, I really want to see more Carter and Jackson.. perhaps a crossover with the Atlantis crew. Don't forget this is part of the one franchise. You are only limited by your imagination. There are still plenty of stuff to explore in the Stargate franchise. Robert Cooper and Brad Wright are one of the smartest show runners in the business, I can't wait to see more stuff from them.

After-thoughts: Episode 5.05 Fallen Idols

Fallen Idols.. humm... Fallen Idols... What do I think about Fallen Idols? There are irrelevant things I like in this episode, but not the story itself. Don't get me wrong, this is a nice little fun filler episode, it's good to have a break from the mytho heavy episodes. BUT man, I miss mytho heavy stuff!

Here are the things I like:

Dean has a new toy! Sam's silver laptop has been around for a long time and Dean uses it sometimes. But in this episode, we see Dean has his own laptop. It's black. I guess after a short break from his brother, Dean decided to get his own laptop.

Save Dr Carson Beckett. But he didn't do it! Stargate Atlantis' Paul McGillion was this guy who found his friend's dead body in the garage. He was accused of the murder but of course he didn't do it.

PS* I cannot watch SGA: Sunday again, I cannot watch Carson died again. I know he came back later but I don't want to see Carson got blown up again.

Soon. But not soon enough. I friggin LOVE the 'Soon' preview clip. We will see Supernatural's own version of End of Days; The Curious Case of XXX; I Survived A Japanese Game Show; Grey's; CSI and sitcom.. What's not to love about Supernatural?

To end this rather short and not really a review on Fallen Idols. I thought the storyline was ok. It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. Paris was better than I expected, it was professionally done. Seeing Dean's ass got kicked by her and Jared chopping her head off like crazy was awesome. The re-establishing trust thing of the brothers was good, the speech by Sam saying that he wants Dean to let him to grow up and Dean let him to drive the Impala was heart-warming.

There are episodes (such as Monster at the End of the Book; The End; Lucifer Rising just to name few) I'd watch over and over again immediately after it aired. But Fallen Idols isn't one of them.

5.06: I Believe The Children Are Our Future - Promo and Sneak Preview

This is not a karaoke session. Episode 5.06 I Believe The Children Are Our Future airs Thursday 15 October on The CW. We will then go into a mini hiatus with repeats from 22 October. New episodes (5.07 - 5.10) will air up until November 19th.

Official description: Sam and Dean investigate a series of odd murders that strangely resemble fairytales and urban legends. The brothers track down an 11-year-old boy named Jesse (guest star Gattlin Griffith) and realize that whatever Jesse believes is coming true. Castiel tells Sam and Dean that Jesse is a serious threat and needs to be eliminated. Episode written by Andrew Dabb & Daniel Loflin and directed by Charles Beeson.

Supernatural Season 5 in Australia

After endless tweets to Channel Ten (Australian TV network that airs Supernatural) on Twitter, they finally replied with some information on the release of season 5 in Australia and said the following:

@RT Supernatural At this stage we're looking at a 2010 launch for the boys. Sorry, we know... it's going to be a long summer.

I understand where they are coming from. The CW has scheduled a few mini hiatus (there is one this month), so it's really hard for TV networks in other countries to air the show. So it's not a bad move for Channel Ten, at least we won't get interruption when it is eventually on air.

Fallen Idol: Sneak Preview

Ewwwillll P Hilton is guest star in Fallen Idol this week. Supernatural fans on Twitter are gathering hashtags to promote the show this week. I am not going to use P Hilton in any of my hashtags. I will use #IsThatGhandi!

Our favorite angel is coming to Australia again. Misha Collins is confirmed to attend the All Hell Breaks Loose II AusCon in May next year!!

For details, visit the
Hub website. Tickets on sale now.

I am not sure if I will go to the Con. I think I should. But I want to wait for them to announce the 3rd guest. I am hoping the boys will come back. Having said that, it'd be awesome if either Eric Kripke or Sara Gamble or Ben Edlund is part of the line up. WHY NOT?

All Hell Breaks Loose II - Australian Convention 2010 Announced

Mark your diary Aussie fans. The Hub Productions announced the dates for the All Hell Breaks Loose II Convention in Australia. Not only the Convention will go to Sydney (8th May, 2010), it will also go to Melbourne (9th May, 2010).

Jim Beaver (aka Bobby) is confirmed to attend. Other guests to be advised. I am hoping Jensen and Jared will come too, but it's hard to say. I hope the organisers will try everything in their power to get more big names here. For details, visit the Hub website. You can also follow Jim on Twitter.

By the way, if you don't know already.. Jensen and Jared DO NOT have a Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or another other social networking accounts. If you see them there, they are fake. Fun to follow, but they are fake..!

Season premiers of Stargate Universe & Smallville; Glee

The verdict......

Stargate Universe was WOW. I wasn't happy to see Stargate Atlantis to go. What were they thinking?! But I always wanted to watch SGU, I was excited about the ninth chevron and the Ancient ship. They have some great materials to work with. Last night, finally I saw the series premier... GATEBALL ROCKS!

The show looks different, it's darker, it's serious, it's mature and it's more sophisticated. It looks like a different show, but it's not. It's like a different show but in a good way. If you haven't watched any previous Stargate series, I'd strongly recommend you to watch them. In my opinion, you have to watch the complete franchise. SG1 and SGA are some of my all time favorite TV shows.

Smallville was awesome. Not as awesome as SGU, however, the special effect looked amazing. I was happy to see the return of Lois. I think Tom Welling and Erica Durance have great chemistry. I think Erica Durance made an episode sometimes. Her presence made an episode watchable. I know we have Clark and Chloe but Lois is sooo awesome. Erica Durance is a great actress. If Jensen Ackles is the most underrated actor of his generation, then Erica Durance is the most underrated actress of her generation. I hope her talent will take her to places. Erica is the best Lois I've seen. When she is not in an episode, it's like there is something missing. I like her more than I like Lana.

Some Glee love... I love Glee! I love the music and the story and the characters. Not a single person who watches the show doesn't like the show. I think the show is quite inspirational. I wish I had a teacher like Mr Schuester when I was in high school. I was in this school musical thing, I was in public school and we were competing with private schools in a competition. Private schools always have more money to do stuff and we didn't have the money to buy pretty props etc.. We have talent, but we didn't have a leader to inspire us. We didn't believe in ourselves. We were kids, and we didn't know what to do. Our school didn't really support us. So anyway, the believing-in-yourself theme was really cool. It's timeless.

After-thoughts: Episode 5.04 The End

I have high expectations for The End. Forget about the double Dean double hottest element for a second, the idea of this episode alone was enough to get me excited. I was afraid of disappointment, if it wasn't executed well, it could be crap. But The End nailed it from the get go. I like the Terminator-Resident Evil look and feel. The story, the writing and the acting were absolutely top notch. It was WOW.

Dean was zapped by Zachariah and traveled five years into the future and met his future self, where he was a leader of a resistance camp; Sarah Palin was the President; Castiel went mortal and hippy; Chuck was like this inventory manager and Sam gave in to Lucifer.

It's a very interesting episode. Zachariah wanted Dean to see what the future could look like if he continued to say no to be Micheal's vessel. This could be one of Zach's strategies to get Dean to say yes. Zach has the power to manipulate a situation (as seen in It's a Terrible Life), what we saw might not be the future at all. It's just a way to get Dean to say yes.

We found out a few key things in this episode: The Devil's end game was to doom mankind with Croatoan virus; the Colt was found (Did the present Dean ask the future Dean about the location of the Colt?); Dean said yes to be Micheal's vessel but it was too late, the angels left; and Sam said yes to be Lucifer's vessel. It was interesting to find out from this episode that the angels left earth, they just left, as if they just gave up. Did anyone end up finding God? May be Zach omitted the details, so that Dean could see how shit this shit hole is and say yes.

Story and writing aside, what made this episode was Jensen Ackles performance. How awesome is this guy? He is always great in Supernatural, some noticeable performances can be seen in What Is and What Should Never Be and All Hell Breaks Loose II. But in The End, Jensen gave an award winning performance. This is gold. His interpretation of the future Dean out-shined his performance of the present Dean. His performance was sooo good, it also out-shined Jared Padalecki's Lucifer, it was good but not as powerful and believable as Jensen's Dean and Dean.

Castiel was again adorable. Although the hippy Cas was funny, but I like the classic Cas better. Please don't change! Chuck was great.. I love Chuck!! I wonder how the prophet thing played out during the five years of the future. And on Sam, they didn't reveal his reason for saying yes to Lucifer. And again, it was heart-breaking to even hear that Dean and Sam didn't talk for five years.

After four intense mytho heavy episodes, we are getting a filler episode next week. I don't care so much as Paris Hilton on the show, but it will be funny to see it! It's good to get a filler, we need a break from the heavy stuff. The week after, I am going to have brain damage from Whitney Houston - I Believe the Children Are Our Future...
